4/19/15   5     5     5     5     5   I love SLDC!! The facilities are beautiful, the activities are creative and age appropriate, and the people feel more like family than staff. For young campers, SLDC has a very caring staff that tailor each activity to the energy level and unique needs of each group. For older campers. SLDC has training and travel programs to provide an accelerated, exciting program while also teaching responsibility to assist with transition into becoming dynamic staff and mature teenagers. Aside from the regular amazing camp day, SLDC also has extensive special events throughout the summer that enhance the camp spirit and allow for specific summer memories that will last a lifetime. I'm sure all the campers wish that Summer at SLDC lasted all year long... I know I do!! RID: 48601

4/14/15   5     5     5     5     5   Spring Lake Day Camp provides detailed attention to all facets of the camp.. not only for the campers but for the families as well. From the staff. to the safety and security to the waterfront activities including the finest swim instructors where my daughter learned to swim, dive and perfect her stroke and later was recognized as an all county swimmer 4 consecutive years in HS. to special events, fieldtrips, transportation, all athletic activities, arts and crafts, cooking etc.. your children will make the greatest memories!! Can not compare this place to any other camp around!!!~ RID: 48592

4/14/15   5     5     5     5     5   We love SLDC! The owners, Mitchel & Michelle are involved in all aspects of camp, the staff is professional and obviously well trained. The swim program is the best and has taught my daughter so many new skills. Everyday she comes home happy and talks about the fun and exciting new things she does each day! RID: 48590
Click to report rating    1/31/15   5     5     5     5     5   Spring Lake Day Camp is a wonderful camp! I have sent my children here for the last 7 summers and they have always come home so happy! It has been the best experience for them, opening them up to new activities and making great, life-long friends. The staff is great and Mitchell and Michelle are so involved. Can't ask for a better camp! We LOVE and recommend Spring Lake to all! RID: 48350
Click to report rating    7/31/14   5     5     5     5     5   SLDC is the best of its kind. There are benefits for each division, whether it be girls side, boys side or junior camp. No two days at camp are the same, and the staff is homegrown and loves what they do. Their traditions have soul, the facilities glisten, and the kids genuinely adore what they can do. Group leaders and Counselors give kids tlc as needed per camper. 5 pools, with 4 water slides and other rides, are open on the daily. The Plake is the perfect and most desired place for all campers. SLDC has it all - from a house on the property to go carts, there is no room for complaints RID: 47744

Click to report rating    8/22/13   2     2     2     1     1   It is ok, but totally totally overpriced for what you get. If you have your parents' money to blow on it, go for it. They put on a good show, but you don't get what you should for this price. But hey, someone has to pay for the owners' Manhattan lifestyle during the school year and summer lake house. RID: 45812
Click to report rating    2/10/13   5     5     5     5     5   Spring Lake Day Camp is the best camp I have ever gone to. The staff, food and facilities are amazing. Anyone who says this camp is not great is crazy. The owners are very involved and know everyone. The staff love it and the campers cannot wait to return each summer. I lOVE SLDC and I Know You will too. RID: 43644
7/19/12   1     2     2     1     1   This summer I attended sldc , also known as spring lake day camp, It was the worst place ever..... The food was DISCUSTING! The staff was awful, they wear there bras and underwear in in the pool and say its a bikini, in front of boys, and they constantly were flirting with each other, eww, this camp was so awful I was planning to go for 4 weeks, and ended up literally going 4 days, I couldn't even finish the week it was so awful! Overall save ur time and money cuz spring lake sucks! RID: 41794
Click to report rating    7/6/12   1     1     1     1     1   I went to Spring Lake for three years (2009-2011). Every year, I'd have to pass the deep water test, where you have to swim a lap in big pool called the "plake (pool and lake)" which was ice cold, dirty water. The counselors were unprofessional, immature and always trying to flirt with each other. And half of the kids in my group were really obnoxious to people who weren't as athletic as they were. 2009 and 2010 weren't super bad, but in 2011, it was horrifying. One time, as the bus was leaving, the kid sitting next to me pulled out a fake gun and tried convincing me it was real. When the camp found out, they didn't even talk to him because it was his last day. My bus counselor for one week played profane rap songs (such as Lil' Wayne) with little kids on the bus. When I informed the camp, the bus counselor made me look dumb by playing the clean CD and asking the busers if they head curse words. He said I was the oldest one on the bus and had to be more responsible. Don't go to SLDC! RID: 41581

Click to report rating    2/8/11   5     5     5     5     5   excellent camp....attentive staff.....terrific food....tons of activities....amazing owners/directors...you get what you pay for and this is the best!!! RID: 35061
Click to report rating    3/6/10   3     2     2     4     1   I went there last year and it was TERRIBLE. The counslors made me do everything, from swimming in a 20 degree lake, to playing a boring game of volleyball on a very humid day. They have boring shows on a tiny stage, and their food is so gross. We were supposed to sing songs and play games everyday on the bus going there and coming back, but my bus counslor was too lazy and just slept the whole time. When it rains, we have to sit there all wet. All the counslers were teenagers, so all they did was flirt and makeout with other counslers. I DO NOT RECOMEND SLDC AT ALL! RID: 32287
Click to report rating    12/6/09   5     5     5     5     5   Spring Lake Day Camp is an incredible experience for both campers and staff! Both my children and I have spent 5 wonderful summers at SLDC and cannot wait to begin our 6th! My children have had warm, sensitive counselors and made many new friends each year. They have participated in athletics, arts & crafts, and a master swim program. Every summer there is a new activity for them to try as well. The well-maintained grounds and knowledgable staff of administrators, specialists, lifeguards, and counselors make Spring Lake a one-of-a-kind experience for each and every camper! We cannot wait to go back! RID: 31686
Click to report rating    7/28/09   5     4     5     3     2   The camp was great when I was 8 and younger but then I started to out grow it. Most of the counselors are great but still some of theam don't care about the kids. It is an expensize camp because their are like 58 buses makeing 2 1 hour trips from picking the kids up and dropping theam off. So if you have 6 year old children then I would recomend it but if your kid is 10-14 it is not a good camp for theam. RID: 30573
Click to report rating    6/14/09   4     3     3     3     4   ok camp. i liked being with my freinds every day, but some parts of it werre bad. the girls were jappy, adn when i told them i was going 2 sleepaway camp (i only wnet 4 3 years), i heard them in the bathroom later saying i was braging, even thou i only said it once and later most of my bunk was skipping around going "slepaway is 4 losers!". at carnival, my counselor dumped a snowcone down my friends shirt b/c she said she wuz hot. 2 get a deep water bracelt, u had 2 take the test in the plaque, wich was baisically a relly dirty, freezing pool wiht dead frogs and snakes in it. if u didnt pass, u had 2 swim in th ekidy pool, where ther was at least 5 "code browns" every day. our conselors never took our lunch orders, so every day all we ate were bagels. i liked the camp, but some of the people there kind of killed it 4 me. i go 2 sleepaway camp now, and its the best camp evah!!! camp is aight, but sleepway is way better. Click to report rating    2/11/09   5     5     5     4     5   i went here for 6 years and loved it! i have to addmit the junior camp is alittle more fun but this camp is the best for all ages. The food is amazing and so is the staff. The personal attenttion is not very strong because you are treated to your needs in a group wich is not that bad. As you get older it gets alittle boring but i had fun at an old age. I LOVE SPRING LAKE! RID: 28946
Click to report rating    7/21/08   4     5     5     5     4   I have had 3 kids going to this camp for the past 3 years. While it is a bit expensive, especially for 3 children, I think it is absolutely worth it. My kids have the best summer each year. One year my daughter had an injury that she received over a weekend. When I sent instructions to the camp as to how to take care of her injury, they couldn't have been more attentive. They have an OR Nurse on staff and she kept in touch with me every day until the injury was healed. As a parent, there isn't much more you can ask for. I know that my kids are in great hands all day long. The food, by the way, is excellent, according to my kids. It is provided by a private catering service and there is always a salad bar and bagels for those kids who don't want to eat the menu of the day. RID: 24980
Click to report rating    7/10/08   4     5     5     5     4   I personally think that this camp is the perfect camp for all ages. The activities are super mixed! You do things from basketball and football to archery and zipline. Thefood is made by a proffesIonal catering company. I recommend that you give his camp a try! RID: 24728
Click to report rating    6/24/08   1     1     1     1     1   I went to this camp for 3 years and i only stayed for 4 weeks each time (i went to sleepaway). They always put the same people in the same bunks so if youmade new friends you couldnt be with them.they made you change in these tiny sheds with twenety other girls and the door was OPEN. The food was awful and the counselors made you dance on fridays.oh yeah and you took deep water tests in the plake, which is freezing cold, disgutsting water. if yuo didnt pass, they made you swim in a kiddy pool at free swim. the counselors were mean and they swore and the girl counselors flirted at the boy counselors. they did plays on a really tiny stage and there was never enough seats so we sat on the ground. overall, awful camp. RID: 24196
Click to report rating    2/24/08   2     4     4     3     4   ok camp but if you want to have the time of your life.......don't go to day camp past the age of 8 or 9 (go to sleepaway) and when you go to sleepaway you will learn what a real fun summer is.......sldc is ok but the counselors are not particularly nice or anything.......the real way to go is sleepaway camp RID: 20660
Click to report rating    2/24/08   4     3     2     3     3   I used to go here every summer and I loved it, until I went to sleepaway camp, because then I saw how much more fun I could have. The food really is revolting. Also, the floors of the bathrooms are always covered in mud which is so gross. However, I did enjoy the activities; they have a lot of activities that were not available elsewhere. One of the counselors made a remark about a friend of mine that really offended her and made her cry. I did not like the counslers. They all acted depressed or mean, except for a few. All in all, it was a good camp I guess but I enjoyed sleep away better. RID: 20628
Click to report rating    1/18/08   4     2     4     5     4   sldc is sooo cool! they have the cutest little kids and the best activties. There are cliques, but they get along. i recently got into a fight with about my new friends but i still have fun and LOVE it. the pools are awesome, especially the plake (pool+lake=plake). in fact, when i was in the show and my parents came with my brother, he took one look at the place and said, MOMMY CAN I GO? and he did. RID: 19118
Click to report rating    1/11/08   2     3     3     2     2   I loved it when I was younger but once you get older it gets boring and the groups definitely have "cliques". It is a great camp for younger kids but after a while I lost interest. The food is disgusting. Special events are sometimes really fun and sometimes awful. RID: 18853
Click to report rating    11/17/07   4     5     5     3     5   i love sldc!!! all the activities are so fun and i had a great time. you will make friends in no time. RID: 17155
