Our Troop has been attending JNW every other year from AZ since 2005. There is a good reason we travel across the country to attend camp. It's our home!

My two boys have been at this camp since they were cub scouts. Every year they receive a great program that allows them to grow and develop within the scouting program. Staff is always friendly. Some are new and need more training on how to deal with younger scouts or those with disabilities. Otherwise a great experience for both my children. Keep it up Webster, each year is better!

As a camper who has attended this and several other scout camps in the region, Webster is the best by far. I'm under the impression that the negative ratings on this site are left by THE VERY VEW scoutmasters who were disappointed with their stay. Webster has a cheerful, energetic staff of fantastic role models, a comprehensive (albeit small) waterfront offering ALL BSA aquatics merit badges, and a daily program that can't be beat! I find that the camp is much more scout-oriented, with staff who go the extra degree to make sure the boys are learning and having fun. This is my second year as the Scoutmaster of a local troop, and I would recommend this camp above all others.-- It bothers me that people (who can't spell, nonethless) come to this website to deter people from one of the best camps in the Northeast simply because they themselves either represent a rival camp or just cannot be pleased. nearly all Webster troops keep coming back year after year, and I'm happy to belong to one.

I find it very odd that so many good ratings for this camp just appeared all of the sudden. If you look at the ratings overall the camp does not look very good. I did read the lengthy defense and I do value the opinion of staff but they do have a VERY biased opinion of the place(I mean the camp went as far as to contact the website to check the legality of artificially inflate their ratings). I think that an outside opinion holds much more water than that of staff persons! I have been to JNW for summer camp and I found it to be a dismal place, JNW is only concerned with meeting the bottom line. They have streamed line the camp to a full fledged merit badge factory. JNW has lost all its scouting zeal in becoming a commercialized camp. Even in the dining hall they use a catering service and the staff is constantly pressuring you to come back. There are many better camps out there! go out and find them, one that embodies the true values of scouting and not just making the most $ possible.

Early in December the Director of this camp was informed of this site, upon seeing the dismal numbers, he ordered his staff to post better ratings. The result was thirty artificially high ratings, six on the eleventh of December, eighteen on the twelfth of December, and sixteen after that. Clearly these rating no longer reflect true camper opinions and I therefore recommend that all rating posted on and after the eleventh of December be removed.

I've worked at JNW for three summers in a row. This past summer I tried a different camp all the way in Alaska. There is no better camp than JNW. Their program is nearly flawless. They choose their staff meticulously and fun and safety are always a top priority.

I been there for 8 years in a row as a leader, my sons loved camping there as scouts and now two are on staff. The staff tries their best to give the troops what they need for a great time. I will keep going back with my troop as long as I am able.

I've been to several summer camps around the country, and nothing quite matches Webster. The facilities have just gotten an upgrade, so they all look fantastic, and the program staff works hard to keep the activities exciting, with a new program or theme every summer, but where Webster really comes in top is the staff, it is obvious they all love what they do, and they work hard to make sure all the kids have a good time, granted we are talking about mostly teenagers here, and they may have a little trouble on the sympathy angle, but they give the kids someone to look up to and admire, and each one works hard to ensure the children are having as much fun as possible.

You will not find a better camp in the state that gives you as much for the dollar. The facilites are fantanstic. Building are in good shape and well maintained. The property is massive with many unique and interesting geological features. The staff puts the kidsfirst. The program is constanly expanding and offers programs that you don't even find at more expensive private camps. This place provides a true out door adventure.

Senior staff is great. Younger staff is average. Customer service is priority, if you tell them what you want, they can probably accomodate your needs. Merit badge classes are typical of summer camps (they do a good job with most (not all) of the Eagle Required badges) - they take too many shortcuts with non-required merit badges - it should take more that 15 minutes to get fingerprinting merit badge. Dining Hall food is above average, dining hall program could use a facelift. Facilities range from average to exceptional. Many new buldings and dining hall improvements are great. Waterfront is average. Safety is top notch in all areas. Shooting program is great, facilities are above average, but the people are as good as they come. Climbing wall is average. Scoutcraft and handicraft are average. New handicap site is rather unique - great if you need it. Campfire ampetheater has recently been rebuilt, great job. There is a nice chapel, but religious services are minimal. Price is high.

JN Webster provides a strong summer camping experience for Scouts, and has for 43 years. The staff is experienced and is constantly working to improve the already solid program. I've been to many other camps, and JN Webster is the gold standard right now.

I've been coming to this camp as a scout ever since i joined my troop. I later went through CIT and am now working there. I have not had any complaints from any one going there and I have no complaints myself. Except the bathrooms could be better and pay could be higher. However, we do get to have loads of fun and free room and board so that evens out. Over all, J N Webster is an outstanding camp and I would encourage any boyscout troop to go there. Each year we have a few new troops coming and at the end of their week, they say how much fun they had there. Also, we do all in our power to give everyone a good time there and we continue to improve the facilities there.

JNW is an outstanding camp that will go out of its way to provide individuals, groups, and troops with the program they specifically request. The facilities are constantly being updated, with large plans for the near future the camp is sure to only continue to improve and get even better. The staff is passionate in the areas they work in and are always willing to give up their little free time to work late and teach extra classes when asked. Not only are extra programs offered for the youth, but adults have several programs that they can participate in year after year. JNW is a wonderful place to be.

Have always had a positive experience here with the troop. Staff are always available and commissioners willing to help with anything. A large variety of not only merit badges but fun activities as well. Could go on forever. A new building (or more) every year! A great summer camp experience.

This camp is a great place to make memories, in the summer or during the off season. In the summer the camp staff makes sure that the campers have a great experience and not just focus on earning merit badges. They provide off-site trips to go kayaking, rock climbing, and other experiences. They have different on-site attractions such a large private pond with a great waterfront that provides kayaks, canoes, rowboats, funyaks, and sailboats for the boys to enjoy, along with a large safe waterfront to swim in. The Project Cope area offers a zipline, a low ropes course and a rock wall to challenge campers of all ages. The firing ranges offer several locations providing archery, rifle, and other shooting sports. During the off-season the camp is still a great place to visit with several new cabins complementing the older cabins, spread around the camp so you never feel crowded even if there are other groups sharing the camp with you. Overall, this is a wonderful place to go camping.

I not only went to this camp as a camper, so did my uncle. In that time, the camp has grown greatly. Even since 2001, when I first attended summer camp at JNW, the camp as grown by leaps and bounds. The camp staff is very attentive, the activities are nummerous and greatly aided me on my way to my Eagle. Every time my parents came to bring me home at the end of summer camp, I was always upset to go! It was my home away from home. JNW does a wonderful job, growing the Scout skills of all of the youth that attend, if they take the oppertunity. The camp is not a Hilton, but it is a back to basics and nature sort of place, a great place to send a Scout to just appreciate nature and learn life changing activities! To add, I have been to many camps over the course of my life, across the nation, and JNW beats the others by far! It is a home, family and great place to be all around!

Our troop camp her and was promised a mountain and was given a mole hole. The staff is arrogant. The facilities are very poor, they have no real camp office to speak of and their brand new dining hall has numerous problems. The camps program focus entirely on merit badges and does not give scouts a real summer camp experience.
