My daughter has attended Camp Glen Spey for several years and she loves it. There is a nice Science area indoors for rainy day activities. The counselors are positive role models and the food is very nutritious. The lake and facilities are beautiful. My older daughter went to Camp Teata for 6 years in Harriman and the Northern NJ GS council closed that camp and used the money to improve their other camp, Camp Glen Spey. So our family loves the GS camp experience. The girls are not clicky, and the counselors help everyone to bond and get along. Most of the campers are girls scouts or former girl scouts from Bergen and Passiac county.

My child attended a Girl Scout weekend camping trip here. I cannot comment on summer camp, but the conditions of the tents, cabins, and Ferdon Hall in mid September were very disappointing. I agree with the reviewer from 2/11 who said the camp was dirty. It was FILTHY when we were there. Ferdon Hall smelled moldy it was extremely dusty. The carpeting in the small games area was dirty. My daughter's tent was a disgrace. Huge holes in the sides. Cots practically collapsing. Tent never swept or cleaned out after Hurricane Irene (or the summer for that matter). The bathrooms were clean, but that was it. I cannot imagine sending my kid here for summer camp.

This camp was dirty. The staff was ok but not great. Thier were not really fun activaties. I heard that the staff curses but not to sure about that. If i were you i would not go to that camp.

I love going to camp. The conselers are wonderful and there is so much to do. You are never bored.

Camp Glen Spey is in NY but is part of the Girls Scouts in Bergen County NJ. Overall it is a very good camp but they need to have more staff! They also need to look at the menu and change a few things around. Overall they have a great amount of programs and you are outside all the time! REALLY OUTSIDE! Certain groups stay in Tent Units and the Tents are huge! But for the love of all humanity spray for bugs and mosquitoes!
