Click to report rating    2/5/17   3     1     3     1     2   I was a both a camper and a staff member at this camp for the past couple of summers and will never return. The administration is rude and problematic and does not take any type of suggestions well. The kids are great but each room shares a bathroom and so there are 8 people to one shower and toilet with not a proper amount of time given for all the children to use the facilities. The rooms are old and there are rats in the walls which is disturbing. The horses are ridden even when they go lame and depsite the intructors asking for the horses to be given time off so as to improve in condition. The staff are a little too young in my opinion to be given as much repsisbility as they are as they start hiring at 14 and more then once have had to hire campers as the staff quit. Some are great but they do not have much choice in hiring and tend to hire whover applies. The days off are Sundays so the partents never meet the older cousleors as they are away and the CIT who are 14-17 are in char RID: 50408
Click to report rating    1/5/13   2     2     1     1     1   I came to pony farm very excited because i dont jump that often, but on the first ride i was not crazy about my horse so i asked if i could switch but they said that if i switched i would be put in a walk/trop grou (which im not in) so i stuck with my horse. I was happy, it was a new day and we ended up riding in the Penrose paddock (Which I think was very unsafe knowing they kept on saying "avoid the wet puddles in the paddock") we went off to canter and i was feeling good until my horse slipped and feel onto my leg. I had to go to the hospital and here I am, typing this, 3 months later with a boot on and crutches. RID: 43320

None of the horses will go lame if you care for them properly, and part of the Pony Farm tradition is how long it's been run for but the facilities are still very nice, and thecounselors could not be more loving to a new camper. I definitely recommend this camp! RID: 37551

4/28/11   4     4     5     5     5   I love this camp! Pony Farm is my home away from home! It has such a fun and friendly atmosphere and the horses and ponies are just amazing! The staff always makes sure you get that perfect horse or pony and you always find yourself in a comfortable level or group. If not, the staff is always there to help you find that perfect level so you are comfortable. The other campers are like family, the whole camp is like one big happy family! I can't explain how much I love Pony Farm! RID: 35779
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     4     5     4     5   I LOVE this camp! I have been going for 8 years, since I was 8. Everyone is super friendly and its my home away from home. I was a a camper for six years and riding different horses instead of my at home gave me really good riding experience. Now that I'm a CIT I get to help teach the younger kids what I learned when I was a camper. RID: 35776
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   What an amazing place Ponyfarm is! It is full of lovely, sweet, hilarious girls (and I'm talking about both staff and campers), and wonderful ponies. I've so enjoyed my time at Ponyfarm and wouldn't have wanted to spend my summers anywhere else. It's such a magical and fun environment. RID: 35775
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     5     5     4     5   I love this camp so much! It's my home away from home and as soon as I leave all I can think about it coming back asap! Although the personal attention is a little low, I think it's important that the campers aren't too dependent on staff and other campers to help them. This camp is just the best! RID: 35772
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     4     5     5     5   I've only been going for one year but I absolutely loved it! as my last year as a camper I had an amazing time! as soon as I got there I felt welcome and never left out. I loved all the other campers, staff, and especially the hoses. When I got there I only knew one person but I brought away so many friends that I will always love. I had so much fun there and all the activities were great, horse related or not :) Boo is sooo amazing and nice along with all the other staff members. I felt at home as soon as I got there. And would never miss a chance to go back! It gives me everything I love to do, spend my weeks with horses and friends:) RID: 35771

Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     4     5     5     5   The staff there is amazing. They are great and fun the be around. They are also very helpful in the ring whenever you need it. The facilities are pretty good, a little old and dusty, but still strong. I think they give the camp character. All of the activities they provide are extremely fun. I have never had one bad experience at this camp! RID: 35768
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   I've been going to Pony Farm for six years, first as a camper, and now as a CIT, and I can only say positive things about it. When I was a camper, the staff was always warm and welcoming. All the girls want to be with each other and with the horses, which creates a real sense of family. Now, as a CIT, I am able to see all the hard work that went into producing such a loving and friendly place. RID: 35767
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   I found Pony Farm to be an amazing camp facility, designed for riders and girls of all ages and abilities. The home environment that Boo McDaniel and Kris Young create along with the help of all the CIT's and senior staff members, is phenomenal! Each girl is able to develop a unique bond with her horse, and if an initial horse assignment doesn't seem to work out, the staff are more than willing to switch a girl to a horse/pony that she might feel more comfortable riding for two+ weeks. Pony Farm offers a unique opportunity for a girl to bond with a horse for two weeks, along with bonding with the other campers and staff members. The friends that girls make at Pony Farm very often become life-long. I had an amazing experience, and I return to Pony Farm annually for more fun, with Boo, Kris, all my friends (new and old), and the horses! I would recommend Pony Farm to anyone; in general, the camp is wonderful! RID: 35765
Click to report rating    4/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   This is a great camp! Very safe and the staff is great and always keeps you busy. The people at Pony Farm are beyond kind and I always feel right at home when I come during the summer. RID: 35762
Click to report rating    4/28/11   4     5     5     5     5   I love this camp! I've been going for almost ten years and I can't get enough of it. The family atmosphere is amazing and I felt that everyone found friends. It's a great experience for an away camp and I can't think of a summer without Pony Farm! Everyone has fun and there are enough ponies for everyone. Lessons are instructive and you learn so much about horses while you're there =) Every year I can't wait to go back. RID: 35760

2/7/11   1     2     2     1     2   Many people have loved this camp but we were very disappointed. Never met daughter's counselor on dropoff or pickup days. We were told these were the counselors' days off. Felt it was run by a bunch of teenagers as we only saw 2 adults, director and assistant each of the 2 days we were there. Our daughter is a very accomplished rider who shows, hunts and takes care of her own pony. But she was put in with beginners and only trotted around a ring for 2 weeks. She said she was too shy to speak up. They also forgot on several occasions to give her allergy meds. At the end of her stay, there were several lame horses ridden in the show, which we did not approve of. Daughter said other campers were not nice to her and counselors did not do much to make her feel better. Also, there was no communication from counselor/director as to how your child is doing while at camp. My son's camp sent letters every 10 days telling us about our child. Also, kind of old and run down. RID: 35043

Click to report rating    2/2/08   1     2     2     1     1   I went for one year, and it was okay, the weather was horrible, and the horse i rode was really good, but they did not have great staff, and the only adult that was nice was Boo McDaniel, i would never want to go back, but i was an okay first sleepway camp. There was a girl that stole some things from others, and even stole my cosmetic case! It is gross because you get a freezing shower if you dont get 1st or 2nd and 8 people share a TINY bathroom, they do not have great horse facilities or people facilities, but Boo is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice! I think she should start the camp over and get everything new. RID: 19761
Click to report rating    1/24/08   3     4     4     5     5   Pony Farm was a fun camp. There are a ton of horse activities and it is a great way to experience different types of riding. When I was a camper I loved the staff, but in my last year as a camper and the years I was a CIT the staff were horrible. If you go to pony farm you also need to be very careful that you get the right horse for you. If your horse is too hard for you to ride or misbehaves you will have an aweful time. Underestimate your riding ability when they ask you about it, so you are more likely to get a good horse. If you are unhappy with your horse ask to switch immediately. Also, sometimes I thought some of the activities were a little too dangerous. For example, we played capture the flag on horseback once, and they let me do a puissance to 3'9" when I was way to inexperienced. Now that I look back on it I could have gotten really hurt. But overall if your kid is safe and doesn't participate in activities which are too hard for them it is a really fun camp. RID: 19374
Click to report rating    1/12/08   1     1     3     1     1   The head of the camp wasn't there to greet us when we arrived first day, the counselors were mean and when I got homesick they told me I couldn't call my mom. I forgot my helmet and three times I e-mailed and called and never got a response. Crowded and hot, hornets in the walls, no screens on the windows. RID: 18882
Click to report rating    7/5/07   5     4     5     5     5   My daughter LOVED Pony Farm and I am so surprised to see some negative ratings for it. She adored the family atmosphere of living in the beautiful Log Cabin with the other girls. She felt safe and well looked after. She learned a lot about taking care of her horse and still talks about how much she loved him. The only disappointing thing was that the pool was not well looked after and so there was little or no swimming. Having said that, I don't think she minded as she was having so much fun with her "horsey" activities. A real highlight was swimming with her horse. I have recommended this camp to others based on my daughter's positive experience. RID: 12733
Click to report rating    2/7/07   3     3     3     3     3   It was good at first.. i gues.. and ya the counclers are supper mean and my horse sucked but me and colin had a great time any way! RID: 7615
Click to report rating    11/14/06   1     1     1     1     1   i didn't really like this camp at all. i hated living in 1 house with tons of girls! there were cliques and groups and sometimes ifelt excluded! i do not like the food eighter and the staff members are mean. RID: 4957
Click to report rating    9/24/06   4     5     5     5     5   I absolutley ADORE this camp. I've been going for 3 years and I cry on the way home every year. I love all the campers living in pretty much 1 house. It is really homey and there is no homesickness. The only problem is a few staff members are not very nice. They have the perfect horse and level for everyone. The activities like the camping trip and swiming with the horses are so much fun. I especially loved leading the hunter pace (we won)! RID: 3426
