Click to report rating    3/14/14   5     5     5     5     5   Can't say enough good things about Camp Runels. My 8 year old says, "amazing and fun". She's headed back for her 3rd season!! Love the staff and the activities. RID: 47042
Click to report rating    3/14/14   5     3     4     5     4   The staff at Runels is organized, welcoming and excited to be at camp. They are there to make the campers' experiences the best possible. The camp is definitely rustic - be prepared to be outside a lot. There are bugs, so bring your bugspray. A lot of programs include off-camp trips - some are even backpacking and canoe trips! RID: 47041

7/12/13   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to Camp Runels for 8 summers now,4 day camp, 3 resident camp, and one half and half. I can't wait for next summer... I finally get my 5 year award for res camp! This summer I went over the 4th of July and had a blast! I had a counselor from Australia who is the best counselor you will ever find! The staff there are more your friends than your supervisors and they work their hardest to make sure everyone has fun. I am so sad that I will not be returning until next summer. It just goes to show that at Camp Runels one week is not enough. You need a lifetime never mind a summer! I will be going to Camp Favorite next week, but it seems that no matter where I go nothing can compare to Runels. I can't wait to be a counselor. I'm never homesick... I'M CAMPSICK! Runels is my second home and I love it to pieces. I hope I can go for three weeks next summer!(P.S. whoever said they went on Kayak Adventure last year... so did I... this is Maddy) <3 Runels <3 RID: 45123

Click to report rating    2/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Runels is an absolutely amazing camp that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good camp to send their children to. As a camper, I went to a variety of different camps, and I found Runels to be the best fit for me. The staff are welcoming, responsible, and fantastic with kids. Each day is planned extremely well, but not too restrictive. There are fun, safe activities that are sure to keep your child happy all week long. My favorite part about Runels was the attitude of the camp, and especially the character of the girls who attend. At other camps, girls can sometimes be a bit mean and catty towards one another, but I found that at Runels, everyone was accepting, welcoming, and people-oriented. The staff, along with their campers, made sure that every girl was comfortable and happy in her environment, and no one was left behind. Runels is wholesome, healthy, and the best place to grow loving relationships that will last for years to come. I have met my best friends at Runels. RID: 43795
Click to report rating    2/23/13   5     3     4     5     5   I have been going to runels for 5years now and LOVE IT! It is true camp. We run around with flashlights at night, have campfires, sing so many songs, and I have a blast going out on the adventure camps they offer. Last year I went on Kayak adventure and had the best time of my life. My counselors were great, always supported us even when we thought we couldn't paddle any further and taught us tons. I can't wait to go back this year. RID: 43788
Click to report rating    2/23/13   4     5     5     5     5   I love runels! I've been going here for several years. The staff is amazing and funny. The camp is beautiful and the activities are so much fun! At runels, the counselors try to spend time with each girl and try to talk to each girl to get to know them. And the fact that everyone is so close by the end of the session is amazing! RID: 43786
Click to report rating    2/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   I've been going to Camp Runels for four summers now, and I've loved every minute of it. Some of my best memories come from the summers I've spent here with my friends. I spent three weeks here as a CIT last year, and I've never appreciated the staff more. They work extremely hard to make sure the kids are having the best time possible. I've travelled to other camps before, as have my friends, and Runels is a camp for all girls, no matter who they are. I hope someday I'll be able to be one of the amazing staff here and work to make kids enjoy Runels as much as I do. RID: 43785
Click to report rating    2/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   I've gone to this camp going on 6 years now and it is the all time best place in the world. Everyone is friendly and willing to help you out if you have any troubles and the food is AMAZING. Basically it's Disney Land. I made my best friends at this camp, and had the most amazing times on the trip programs and even programs that stay on camp. There is something unique about Runels that will make you feel like you never want to leave. It's fab, I definitely suggest this camp. RID: 43784
Click to report rating    2/23/13   5     5     5     5     5   I've been going to Runels for 7 years now! It is my favorite place on earth and I've made tons of friends here and they are by far the nicest people on the planet! I know the staff is always there for me both during and after camp! Runels doesnt just have amazing programs around their facilities, but they have trips all over New England! I have been to Acadia twice with the camp and to the Kanc once! They have amazing activities like scatters and my favorite, the unit cookout, where you compete for the golden skillet for the most original cookout! I'm going to be a CIT at Runels this summer and I am sad to see my days as a camper end, but hopefully I will have the opportunity to be on the staff in the future! I have made thousands of memories at Runels and I have learned a lot about myself at camp too! RID: 43783
Click to report rating    7/14/12   1     1     1     1     1   I went to this camp a few years ago and it was my very first overnight camp. I was so excited but I ended up having one of the worst experiences of my life! The staff would always yell at us and would only do activities with us if they "felt like it" in other words they were extremely lazy! My friend was getting extremely homesick and would start to cry, but instead of comforting her, the camp director came out, yelled at her, and put her in a group with younger kids! This made me homesick as well but I didn't dare speak up considering what happened to the last girl! My mom called and asked how I was and if she could speak to me but you aren't allowed to speak to your parents it is "against their policy." Overall, it is probably the worst camp ever. The have a disgusting pond, mean staff, and bad food. Girl scouts are taught to treat others with respect but the staff won't even respect the campers. Don't waste your money. RID: 41700
Click to report rating    5/23/11   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is AMAZING!The staff are awesome and all love what they do. The activities are fun, ecspecially all camps. We got to cover our counselors in mud and leaves one night and another night we had a big marshmellow dodgeball fight. I've been going for 4 years and will continue to go for as long as I can! RID: 35945
Click to report rating    2/14/11   5     4     5     4     5   Runels is a more rustic camp than other sites - there are platform tents/yurts/tentalos/open-air cabins and most areas have latrines. However, the showerhouse is updated with flushies. The staff really enjoys their job and wants to be at camp with the girls. The programs continue to change yearly, with a focus on improving trips and art experiences. Trips include van camping to different parts of New England, canoe trips, and backpacking trips. Meals are served in the dining hall - food is typical camp food! RID: 35108
Click to report rating    2/6/09   1     1     1     1     1   i went there when traveling with another camp and it was horrible. the pound was a swamp, the food was so-so, and the activities were so boring that i wanted to sit out, but they wouldn't let you. Also i hated all the bad singing. Lasly the walk was so long to our tents. it was very buggy, plus the bathrooms gross. if you want a wonderful camp go to wind in the pines or camp bonnie brae. both this camps are great RID: 28874
Click to report rating    11/18/07   5     1     3     4     4   This camp is pretty fun. The best part about it is just hanging out in your unit with the counselors and your friends. The staff here is amaazzzinnngg. The food is okay if you're not a picky eater. Activities are mandatory, however, including swimming in the gross lake. Sometimes Runels can be a bit immature for older girls because of "buddy lines" and camp songs. If that doesn't bother you, you should have a great time there. RID: 17178
