Another year at Kenwal, and the experience continues to exceed expectations. This year, my youngest joined the camp, and both children consistently provide glowing feedback. The independence fostered by the camp is truly remarkable.
I'm deeply grateful to the entire Kenwal staff for delivering another amazing year and for their warm, welcoming approach.
Kenwal Camp consistently delivers a summer filled with growth, fun, and lasting memories. Highly recommended for parents seeking a camp that balances independence with a nurturing, family-like atmosphere.
As someone known among friends for being a bit of a helicopter parent, my continued enthusiasm for Kenwal Camp speaks volumes. My friends, knowing my usually cautious nature, have taken notice of my unwavering positive reviews. Kenwal Day Camp will always hold a special place in my heart. I was a camper there many moons ago. My daughter has had the MOST AMAZING last two summers in Extreme Teen. She has made wonderful friends and has made memories to last a lifetime. I am forever grateful to Kenwal!

My children have been attending Camp Kenwal for the past 7 years. Each year our family looks forward to the summer. My children because the days are action packed and for us parents we know our kids are happy and well cared for. Kenwal offers a variety of activities that appeal to children of all interests. My kids learned to swim at Kenwal, Play Gaga, ride go karts, overcome fears of rides and most recently my oldest learned how to be away from home. Kenwal has taught my kids to try new things and take chances. The confidence they have gained and the experiences they have had will stay with them into their adulthood. No two days are ever the same. Kenwal is continuously adding new things or bringing in entertainment to keep the experiences unique.The staff is awesome and are committed to making sure all the kids have a great day. When the bus comes each morning my kids run out. I cannot say enough good things about Kenwal, you have to see for yourself to believe it.

At Kenwal Day Camp, we have always felt part of a family. Kenwal was always a part of our lives even when we couldn’t see our own family. The pandemic has made us realize even more just how important Kenwal is to us. This is our 10th summer and counting at Kenwal. My 3 kids have chosen to forego a family vacation this summer so as not to miss a day of Kenwal and we are so happy to see their smiling faces every day at pickup. Kenwal is their happy place. The summers seem to go by so quickly but the memories will last a lifetime. There are many camps in the area but none quite like Kenwal. Kenwal is truly the best!!!

We've been going to Kenwal since my daughter was 3 and we couldn't be happier. She's planning to go all the way through the Extreme Teens program and hopes to eventually work there! All of the staff, from counselors and group leaders to the specialists and office crew go above and beyond. My daughter has become an excellent swimmer and comes home tired and happy every day! The grounds are also beautiful and there are so many activities that the kids never get bored. I can't recommend Kenwal enough! Thanks to everyone there for the best summers EVER!

This summer I was fortunate to work at Kenwal Day camp. I was the supervisor of the Junior Counselors. I had an amazing summer!! I enjoyed being with my JCs as well all the other staff I had the pleasure of working with and for. I have worked at other camps and had wonderful experiences in the past, but what made this one different, is how Howie, the owner, and all the directors went out of their way to let everyone know when they did a good job, only making them want to work harder. They definitely implement the practice of " you catch more bees with honey". I was happy and proud to be to be part of the Kenwal staff from day one, but that became magnified the day we did the ALS ice bucket challenge, something my boys still talk about. That was something that showed what I already knew...that our camp was a place that cared :-)! Even after summer was over Howie sent me an email letting me know how much my hard work was appreciated. My 2 boys were with me and had the best summer !!

We had a tremendous summer at Kenwal! We sent our 2 elementary age campers there for the 1st time this past summer and they raved about Kenwal...Thank you for 3 things that make a mom and dad truly happy:
1. Our children were safe 2. Our children were happy 3. lastly, they always needed a nap at the end of the day!
Can't wait for 2015:) We are counting down the days!

My son loves it! They have every activity you can imagine. They cater to a child's interests. My son recently discovered drama & was in both productions held at the Hilton. He had his 1st year of outside camp activities, bowling, seeing a show, the beach & let’s not forget Adventureland. Kenwal is ab't love. From the moment u step onto the grounds u can feel the love, not only from the wonderful family (Uncle Howie and the staff you are the best)but from the counselors. They adore the kids & the kids adore them. They r responsible men & woman who have respect for themselves & others. At a time when it’s difficult to find young men/woman w/values at Kenwal u see it everywhere! From the moment my son gets on the bus 2 when I pick him up at aftercare I don’t give a 2nd thought to his safety & wellbeing. Kenwal is family owned & it is obvious that Howie’s Dad/Mom did a wonderful job raising them. And Howie’s values, not only rubs off on his staff, but on his children (the campers) as well.

Camp Kenwal is truly amazing. This is my child's first year at Kenwal. We are a family of campers that attended a different camp for many many years over the course of 3 children. The decision to switch camps was one I met with great research. Oh how I wish I sent my others to kenwal. Switching camps was the BEST decision I have ever made. My child is having a blast! Being a "super senior", he is enjoying all kinds of travel days on wonderfully planned excursions, as well as a great experience with the staff, kids and owners while on campus. Howie is amazingly hands on and loves every kid as if they were his own. Everything is so organized, and orchestrated to perfection. My son is having a blast and looks forward to every day. Thank you Kenwal for being such an amazing camp!

I cannot say enough good things about Kenwal. My kids have been going there for years and it just keeps getting better and better each year. Each camp is only as good as the people behind it. Howie is fantastic. What a wonderful person - always friendly and happy to see everyone and overall just such a nice person. The staff is great and the facility is well maintained. They must be doing something right. My kids are always so upset at the end of camp and literally start the countdown to the following camp year the day that camp ends. Kudos to a wonderfully run camp and to Howie for keeping it up to par. He goes above and beyond always. Excellent camp. Cannot say enough good things!!!!

My kids grew up at this camp! Their experiences were amazing. They looked forward to going back every day, every week and every summer. My niece attended the nursery & kindergarten program for the last two years and really had a great summer each yr. My sister raved about her daughters experience and will be returning again this summer. There's no place like Kenwal!

The Countdown has begun. My son is singing the Kenwal song everyday. He's really excited about the New Circus Arts Program they added this summer.(they are Always adding new exciting activities every year). My daughter is going there this summer as well. She's in Kindergarten and ready to join the Kenwal Family. She also gets to use their New Jr Zipline, for the younger campers. My husband and I are very excited we found Kenwal...Our whole neighborhood goes there. We all love it!!!

I can't say enough about how wonderful my daughter's first summer camp experience was, at Camp Kenwal. She went in as a "Super Senior" and has literally been talking all year about how excited she is to return. It's just a great way to spend the summer, or any portion of it. There's truly something to stimulate every mood and every type of camper - athletic, artsy or educational. My daughter especially loved the special outings and events, which covered all the bases ... adventure, culture, sports, and summer fun activities like beach trips, "late nights", etc. She also really liked the kids who attend the camp. I didn't hear a word about bullying or "drama", and she made a number of good friends. Most importantly, I have to shout out a huge Thank You to Howie and the directors and staff who are extremely capable, generous and dedicated to seeing that every kid there has a happy, stimulating and safe summer experience. THANK YOU !!!

There are many camps in the area, but Kenwal gave my son the xtra tlc he needed as a new camper, knowing noone. Every conversation my son has is about Kenwal. I wish there was a higher number than five that I could rate this. Summer 2010 was my first year at Camp Kenwal. I was a CIT. By the end of the summer, I felt like every single person there was my best friend even only after a year. The kids are great, the counselors are the best and the directors. I still keep in touch with everyone. When I first went to see the camp I was unsure of coming to the camp, by the end of the first week I told my parents I wanted to come back next year. This weekend is our reunion and I cant wait! This camp is number one choice! I wish I had come to this camp when I was younger. PICK THIS CAMP. This camp is my life. Everything we did is so much fun, between being a counselor in training, the trips(that are awesome), the counselors, the bus rides to and from camp, and just everything there is great. At camp, I was always happy. This camp is worth every penny! Sign your kids up, I gurantee they will have the best summer of their life, I know I did. I luv camp

Kenwal makes our children's summer COMPLETE! Our boys started going to Kenwal 8 years ago. The owners and management staff treats you like family. They make sure their campers are on a first name basis with them. And, after a whole winter off, they still remember our kids' names! Our children love all the activities that Kenwal provides with from baseball and hockey to bungee and zip line. Our older son, who is not very athletic, now enjoys and is better at sports because of the encouraging and rewarding environment Kenwal offers him. He also likes the trips to the Mets games, Broadway shows and Adventureland Park to name a few. Our youngest child is now of age to attend Kenwal. There is a separate area for her age group and activities that are age appropriate. I feel confident that she is in a safe and nurturing environment. The owners are always enhancing the camp for the benefit of their campers. We love Kenwal!

The activities keep the kids engaged and the drama group is a favorite for my 7-year old. The presentations are amazing and the kids really put there hearts into it. It really is an outstanding camp.

The owners provide unbelievable attention to detail. From the transportation to the activities you can tell everything is well thought out. The staff is very well trained. We knew our son was in very good hands. We were the type of parents that didn't believe in pay to play programs. After our son's great experiences, we only regret we didn't send him in previous years to Kenwal. Great camp!

My family has been attending Kenwal for three summers now. My daughter goes on trips with the older ones and loves it. My son, who is going into kindergarten, just started this summer. I consider myself to be a fairly over protective parent, trusting no one with my kids. However I must say that in my time at Kenwal, they have won me over! I’m comforted knowing that I can call the office at anytime and they know who my children are. Besides the great family atmosphere, what sold me was their Open Visiting Policy. I love the fact that I can just pop down at anytime. I also appreciate the open communication I am able to have with my child’s group leader. My son has an allergy. His group leader went out of her way to make contact with me to discuss the specifics. Camp started last week and I have already spoken to her three times. Both of my children are extremely happy at Kenwal, and so am I. It’s definitely a great place!!!

i rated Kenwal top rate because Kenwal is a true reflection of family . The directors go out of their way to make the campers feel like family and make them a priority. I cannot say enough great things about this camp. It is a family owned AND operated day camp and the owners Dena and Howie went out of their way to make my 2 children feel welcomed and safe. We recently moved to LI and after visiting all the other camps in the area I couldnt' imagine sending my "country mice" to any other camp. The staff are amazing, the grounds are immaculate and kid friendly, the activities offered are imaginative and fun, and most importantly, my kids jumped out of bed each morning excited to go back for another day of fun. They made lasting friendships and it made a difficult time for them (moving, divorce) into a fun time, which is what summers are meant to be for kids! Camp Kenwal truly strives to cater to the children and succeeds on all fronts. My children are counting down the days until camp starts again which truly speaks volumes about the overall experience they had last summer. Kudos to Dena & Howie and their entire staff. Simply fantastic!

This is my daughters first year at Kenwal and she is very happy there! She was scared of water and all her friends went in the water and now she even goes boating. As of friday she went down the water slide. My only complaint is of the food.Everyday she asks if her counslor sari sp.? can babysit. Thanks Kenwal

Kudos to Kenwal Day Camp. Thank you for picking up my children today and getting them to camp safely and also allowing them to have an enjoyable day. It was nice to be able to say to my neighbors who were all complaining because their camps closed for the day. I am a working parent and dont know what I would have done if there was "no camp" today. My kids got there safely, they had a GREAT day and got home safely. Thanks to the directors Dena Howie Larry Christin and ALL THE STAFF for carrying EACH child into the main bldg in knee deep water so they wouldnt get wet and remain wet all day! You guys at Kenwal are the best!!! Thank you for everything and your concern and energetic levels you ALWAYS have for the children (and the parents). We all love you in my neighborhood and will continue to spread the incredible and personal service you give to all. Always 110%.

This camp is the best camp on Long Island! The staff really pays attention to each kid according to what they need. The activities are updated every year so there is always something new and fun to do! My sons favorite was Inline Skating, which I also felt comfortable with because they have so many staff members making sure the kids have fun and are safe doing that. My daughter is also going to Kenwal this year and we can't wait to be in the Kenwal family for years to come.

My son is not the kind of kid who will win a camper of the year award. Preferring bugs and art to sports I was very concerned. Kenwal staff made him feel comfortable and he had a fantastic summer. He always had choices of great activities to do and ended the summer with a love of baseball. While he lost some underwear and socks, he never had a bad day and woke up every morning eager to go to camp. That's what it's all about. Other local camps may offer more (over the top in my opinion) but Kenwal has the personality of a camp that lets kids feel comfortable, is non-competitive, and when a parent calls up, the directors know your child. Kenwal is real. It's not about who has the biggest bankroll or fanciest clothes. It's a fantastic camp where kids come home dirty, tired and happy. I am thankful for the wonderful summer Kenwal has provided my son and we look forward to this year and many more.

I just joined the Kenwal staff last year as the Director of the drama shows- I didn't know what to expdct because I came from another camp that treated me horribly. But they were awesome- they worked around scheduling, were open to anything that may help the shows and make it more fun to the kids...and they are always doing new and exciting things for the kids- like getting the fire department to hose down the campers and staff :-)

This camp is AMAZING!..I went there for 5 years, and i wanted to try something new,so i went to sleepaway camp for 2 years, it could not compare to this camp. For some reason, everyday gets more fun, im so not joking. I just came back last summer and now im going back again for my 7th year!It is safe, fun, and affordable. They have great facilities and counslers. Except for the pools, they could be somewhat cold/dirty, however THATS CAMP!! You just gotta deal with it..The owners are great, they work so hard to make everyone happy. The trips for Teens are great, they make camp fun. I will be starting CIT year this year and i KNOW it will be great.. All of the kids are also really cool,not stuckup, not snobby,not clicky, because i know alot of girls have trouble with that. Kenwal is a great environment and i would most definatly suggest this camp to ANYONE who wants to send their child to camp.

It's a shame that anyone can write whatever they want on these sites. Kenwal updates there programs every year, adds new activities every year, and the parents are well aware of what is going on there as kenwal has an open door visiting policy, you don't have to schedule an appt to see your child, just pop in unannounced!there are many many camps in the area, and only a few that have been around for 40 years or more. with all that competition, you have to be GREAT to stay in business in this industry. My suggestion; visit these few camps that have been around and know what day camp is all about. Don't listen to some competitor or some staff member who may have been fired and now can post whatever they want. After personally visiting these camps I'm sure you will agree Kenwal is a camp you'll be proud to say your child attends!!!

kenwal hires young, irresponsible and immature counselors. their programs are lame and tired. i was not impressed with the program or how my chld was treated. the facilities are old and run-down. for the $ they are charging, they should be ashamed. if parents really knew what was going on, they would never send their kids there.

The campers are great, the staff is wonderful, and the facilities and activities are terrific. i have been going to camp since i could remember and it is the BEST CAMP EVER!! they have an amazingly good drama program, and everyone is really nice. the only downside is that the teen group didn't have too much freedom, however i still enjoyed myself as i have every year!

kenwal is the worst camp i have ever went to. the best part of the day was going home. i will never go there ever again. the best trip was the met game(they're the best). thats the only time i had fun the whole summer. oh and i have a question, what the heck is a chuckbuck?

I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR 4 YEARS AND I STILL LOVE IT. TERE IS SO MUCH TO DO THAT ME AND MY FRIENDS HAVE FUN ALL DAY. WE NEVER GET BORED!

This is our first year at this camp for my 6 year old. We were concerned that she did not know many peers going here. It has been a pleasant and stressfree experience. She has had a blast with her new friends as well as the counselors. They have been extremely attentive to her and any insecurities she may have had for a first time camper. I get a review every day of all the fun that she had with everyone at the camp. Any questions we have had were resolved with one phone call. The owners are very concerned about how their staff interact with the kids. She hasn't complained once about any activities as there are so many of them. It was nice to know that on the really hot days they had alternative activities planned to keep them cool. Definitely a great summer!

Kenwal is the best camp on Long Island. There is no other camp where the owners and directors know all the children,parents and staff. Its the most personal camp and they show how much they CARE about the CHILDREN on a daily basis, rather than catering to the parents(like other camps do). Camp is about the children Not about the parents. They have tons of activities(lots of water ones) and my son wants to run it one day.

From a different perspective... I have been a camper at Kenwal and a counselor and now a Group Leader.. Im a teacher during the year and have been at Kenwal for 15 yrs. They treat their staff like family. From counselors, to swim instructors, to group leaders, to maintenence people, etc.. Throughout the years I've had some personal issues and the Feinstein family was ALWAYS There for me.. to work through it. They are the best and so is Kenwal. As far as the kids.. well... THEY LOVE IT. Simply put. They add new activities EVERY summer so that they now have EVERY activity that any other camp in the area has. This truly is my second home.. I love kenwal and i love the Feinsteins. Ann,Chuck,Howie and Dena are the best.. AND YOU TOO LARRY!!! :)

My children love Kenwal Day Camp. The staff is knowledgable, experienced and accomdating. The activties and camp grounds are outstanding. I highly reccomend Kenwal as one of the best day camps on Long Island.

The owners and staff of this camp really make the differrence!! They truly put the kids first. My friends and I have been there for 4 yrs. They're not about glitz, they're all about the kids!!!

Not as deluxe as some of the other camps in the area but a little more affordable. My kids had a great time last summer and can't wait to go back!

Nice family-run camp. Older kids get to choose electives. May be missing a few bells & whistles, but is -- by far -- the best value in Melville!!!
