This was myy daughter's 1st overnight camp experience. She was bullied mercilessly by another camper in her cabin who threatened to kill her. The CITs would not permit her to call home. I called several times for updates and received no response to my calls pr emails. My daughter was miserable. They don't train their staff well or interview campers thoroughly. Highly NOT recommended.

My daughters got to this camp and love it. You will meet some lifelong friends here that quite honestly, you will consider family. The activities are an experience you will never forget which include everything from Swimming to Riflery. The staff go through a rigorous background check as well as quite a bit of safety training so you can feel safe sending your child here. There is not a better camp out there.
If you have a son consider their brother camp (which is on the same property) North Woods Camp which is pretty much the same experience but for boys. I am proud to say I was a Northwoodsman for 14 years.

The day before camp started I was informed that there would be a transgendered boy in my daughter's cabin. The camp also inadvertently sent out a mass email to all parents listing all the prescription behavioral drugs one camper was taking. The competence and judgment of the staff are troubling to say the least.

The staff was okay, my cabin mates were ALL rlly rude, stuck up people, rlly bad food (overcooked meat, over seasoned, and gross things) (I ate sun butter & jelly for almost the whole time aka sun butter & jelly were for ppl who did not enjoy the main course). The 90% of the showers were cold, so many mosquitoes to sting you. They take you swimming even if the water is freezing cold.

This is easily the best summer camp I have ever attended. I have found myself at this camp. A great measure of independence, confidence, and social skills were born for me at PVC. I can't imagine my life without PVC. This will be my 8th summer returning, and I am going all summer. If you love being crazy, having fun, and never being bored, Pleasant Valley Camp is the camp for you!

I thought it was good, but some of the people that work here are rude. They told us that we would never come back to camp again and that made us all feel bad. The actives can get boring because you do them for 2 weeks straight.

i love this camp so much all my cousins go to its a family thing. i made so many friends. i went when i was 7-ten years old. i got into shows so i couldent go for the past 3 summers. i have been begging my mom to send me back and i get to go back next year and im so excited (: come its amazing i dont know what these kids are talking about. if you dont like it your a misrebal kid and schouldent go to camp at all.

this camp was the best camp! i made tons of new friends! it is very pretty there too. If u r in a middler cabin u will wake up to the pretty lake it is the best time that i had some trouble leaving i just didn't want to go home

I went to Pleasant Valley last summer and it was amazing!!! The property is beautiful. Everyone on staff is super nice and caring and they know what they are doing. I am usually shy and I was nervous to come, but at PVC I felt like I could be myself all the time. They did make us swim and sometimes it was cold, but it paid off becuase I am a better swimmer now. Other activities were really cool. I can't wait to go back this summer! GO TO PVC!!!!

Ive been going to Pleasant Valley camp since i was 10 years old and i can honestly say it saved my life. You can come to camp wit low self esteem and leaving feeling on top of the world. The counselors get super involved in every activity and makes each camper individually feel better about themselves. since you are living in a cabin with 10 girls you learn to except everyone for who they are and you can learn so much about yourself. You really bond with the girls in your cabin and make best friends for life. I can never thank Camp enough for giving me the experience of a life time and i am so great-full that there is a place like this in my life.

this camp was horrifyng the counsolers were nice.....well some were. the food made u want to puke! the swimming was miserable! The only good thing was your friends! and archery plus the award ceromony luckily i only went 4 a week i think i would have died if i went any longer same with my friends!

this camp is soooooooo much fun! i have loved it and it has been such a good experience for me i have made so many frends and the activities are great! You get used to the lake water after a while and it isn't as bad as some people say. It is an amazing camp send you kids to it!!!

The girls here are very cliquely. The actives aren't that good and they make you take swim lessons. They made us swim in the water when it was so cold. If your not luckly you won't get any of the actives you choose and you get all the ones that you hated. The cabins are so old and they get so cold at night. I was luckly and had a few friends there that were in some of my actives. The only fun part of camp was the dance that we had with the boys' camp next to pvc. Also you are allowed on the boys' camp unless for a special event. Even the camp store had different days for the boys and the girls to go. Don't go to pvc!

I went to this camp 8 years ago and it has forever scarred me for life. I was 8 years old and i was in the youngest cabin. Everynight, all of the girls in my cabin would cry our hearts out wanting desperately to go home. They would force you to swim in extremely cold water. I went home a week early because I was so miserable. I didnt go to sleep overs with my friends for years. Maybe it has changed? I dont know, but I dont reccommend sending any 8 year olds to this camp because they will be ignored..

I lOveed PVC! at first i was really nervous about leaving for 2 weeks, for my first time, but the people were really welcoming! i had so much fun! But i did want to know if people liked the extra money activities to see if i should do them next summer, since i will deffinatley be returning to PVC! I LOVE IT!

This is the best camp i have ever been to in my life. Last year was the first year that i went to a sleepaway camp and i loved it. My counselors were super nice and I made so many friends that i still keep in touch with. The waterfront activities are soo much fun especially sailing and windsurfing. The counselors are so nice and really make your camp experience really fun. The only thing is that they need to add more showers, because there are not enough, especially in the senior bathroom (where they are needed the most). I reccomend this camp all the wayy!

The Staff is the best but the activities are boring what you do is pick 7 activities and do them for 2 weeks. If you are not the first one you can not pick anything! Send your child to another camp!

this the best camp i can think of it was the first sleep away camp i went to i was in 5th grade at the time when i got homesick everyone was so nice to me and and when i cryed my hole cabin was incredibly nice to me and to the person who every wrote that bad comment about PVC ur experience at PVC was bad because you made it bad at camp you need to let go off all ur stress and yes things start to smell and theres not alot you can do because ur in camp and if you had just waited a lottle while they could have washed it for you. i have been going to PVC for 4 years and it is one og my high lights of summer and i can't wait to go this summer i loved my counslers and my cabin i because friends with everyone and i had the best time.

I have gone to this camp for about 10 years now, more than half of my life. PVC is the mos tamazing place ever, it allows anychild to be the type of person they want to be. PVC, like any camp, is completely what you make of it and if you come in with a bad attitude then youre going to end up like that person who wrote a negative comment. The staff is fantastic and the man who runs the camp, Artie, is absolutly amazing. I dont know what i'd do without this place

i went on a weekend trip with the ymca and loved it! we had sooo much fun. within reason there r no rules there! during tht trip we stole the boys sleeping bags and pillows and hid them in the girls bathroom which i will admit isnt the cleanest but thts camping for you! it was one of the best experiences of my life and i hope to go back for a whole summer

I went to this camp for one summer and it was the worst 2 weeks of my life. The staff members picked favorites, and did not step in when other campers were out of line. The girls who I met there were some of the rudest people I have ever met. I would not recomend this camp to anyone

I love PVC!!! Last summer was my first summer away and I was welcomed and I felt like I had been there forever. I've met some amazing people, done some amazing things and created some memories to last a lifetime! The activities are great, my favorite is definitely WINDSURFING!!! 143 WINDSURFING lol!!! The swim classes are really effective, and kayaking is also great. The counselors are amazing; I probably made more friends with the counselors then anyone else! The lake is beautiful. Star gazing is amazing on the waterfront or down at Sandy's. The food was ok, but that is to be expected because after all it is summer camp. Great variety and especially accomadating to vegetarians, such as myself. PVC is a great value. It has become a huge part of my life! Keeping in touch with everyone keeps everyone in the spirit all year long! I am planning to come back to Pleasant Valley next summer and the summer after... It was the experience of a lifetime! 143 windsurfing...lol!
