I had written a less than flattering review and it has vanished. I see several "negative duplicate reviews removed" entries so I guess there's the ability to have negative reviews removed even if they are not duplicate, or perhaps multiple negative reviews constitute duplicates because they say bad things? Anyway, camp is marginal, talk to numerous people before sending your kids here, and take this site with a grain of sand.

I can not wait to send my girls to camp this summer! I have heard amazing things about Camp KR and we are so excited to experience the magic as well. The director, Marc Rauch has brought Kinder Ring back to the amazing camp it used to be (if not better, if possible) People all over are talking about Kinder Ring and we can't wait to experience what all of the raving has been about!!!!

After a couple of years where camp seemed to be on the rise, we are afraid it is once again going downhill. Whether it will recover, we don't know and don't care. Our daughter will not be returning this summer. The Workmen's Circle has no idea what they are doing. Ruby leaving to go run another Jewish camp is a bad sign also. Why would he leave if things were good? This camp has too many financial problems to succeed. Send your kids somewhere else. Unless you are alumni, of course you can do what you want.

This is an awesome camp. My children both attend and have for a few years now. It is an exciting camp with tons of fun-filled activities. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested.

It's very likely that Camp Kinder Ring just may be the greatest place on the face of the Earth. The friendships last a lifetime and so do the amazing experiences. Every camper gets involved whether it's a basketball tournament or a woodworking project. All staff knows how to have a great time when it comes to all activities. The evening activities range is enormous from watching the baseball All-Star Game, socials, scavenger hunts, sports nights, and many more. It amazes me how people think of CKR with such disrespect. With some traditions lasting more than 80 years, no wonder Kinder Ring is the home away from home for hundreds of happy campers and counselors. Lastly of course, the facilities are tremendous with three basketball courts, one indoors, a regulation roller hockey rink, softball fields, a few soccer fields, many tennis courts, and loads of other activity centers. I plan on seeing Camp Kinder Ring survive for maybe another 80 years. Who knows, maybe it will. -ACA Official

Camp caters to alumni children only. The camp looks like a prison from the outside with a barbed wire fence. Green Haven prison is down the road.

All i could appropiately rank based on my experience was the staff + facilities parts. I came from another camp to Kinder Ring for a basketball tournament. This was my cmap's first encounter with KinderRing at their camp, so we didn't know what to expect. First we arrived and were sent to their indoor facility, which could also be refered to as a basketball court with gum stuck to the ground. After this, we played our first game and then were sent to the cafeteria for lunch, with the camp. We entered the cafeteria to a boo, since we were playing them right after. During the game, we were yelled at by campers/counselors and even coaches. We kicked their butts, and were getting a lot of crap from the camp, such as yelling during our free throws. The athletic director was a good man and actually had to throw the Kinder Ring coach out of the game for pretty much embarressing the camp. I have no respect for a place like this, who cannot accept a loss and most definently lacked sportsmanship

The camp continually tells parents one thing and then does another. Nor do they inform parents that things have changed since they last plunked down their hard earned money. You just learn about it when you arrive, or worse yet when you go up for visiting day. Its always disorganized with one hand not knowing (or caring) what the the other is doing. Getting someone on the phone who can help you (or call you back) is quite a job. They have gone way up in price and have taken away activities. Other activities are still on the schedule but are down for various reasons (maintenance, staffing issues, etc.) I wish my child would try another camp but he has already had the kool aid there. It just kills me to spend my money here (if you're not an "insider" forget about being in the know)because the camps communication skills are awful.

I lost interest in this camp. There are kids and counslers who bully me all the time and one of them paddeled me with a bad for an hour. The counslers did not do anything about it. I could not tell my parents until camp ended or visiting day. Parents, I recomend trying other camps. I went for 6 years and I had more bad times than good. One of the kids punched me in the chest because he was trying to make people feel bad for him just because of his dad. He is just using that for attention. I am not going back next year. Parents should search for a better camp. Happy hunting. The only good is the lake, pool and thats it. Activities are mediocre. Those who think this comment is stupid cannot stand the truth.

If you visit other camps, you won't be treated as if you don't exist by some of the so-called people in charge. The director never even came out to say hi on our tour, so I guess it's a good thing he's gone. But who's in charge? I don't know! If it's left to the asst. dir. and his henchman, watch out. You could regret this decision for life.

Camp was the best place i ever went. I made so many new friends i still keep in contact with. We shared a bond for the camp and all it has to offer. I'm proud to say i met the love of my life at ckr. we are now married and have two little boys. I thank the camp for bringing us together. All the negative reviews here are from experiences that can happen at any camp. If you look at the big picture this camp is fully certified and just as good as anywhere else. In fact, its much better. Working in the infirmly led me to become the quality of life director at a local hospital which is where i work now. This camp and all its excellent opportunities made me the person i am today. Letting this camp go would be a disgrace. i love kinder ring and owe it all to you <3 sylvan shore sunsets burn within our minds. p.s. my fight songs are now my kids lullabies.

CKR is AMAZING!! I'm really shocked at the amount of negative comments this camp has recieved. Some of you are saying were all snobs. Were not. Your associating us with other people who may be snobs. Not all of us are. This camp is the best camp ever. I have been to other sleep away camps, but nothing has ever been has great as CKR. The activites are great, the bunks are pretty nice, the grounds are huge and beautiful, the pool and lake are fantastic, you can't go wrong by going to CKR. This is my 5th Summer. The memories i bring home from this camp, are some that I wil truly never forget. For some of the negative parent comments-just because your child didn't love CKR, doesn't mean it's a bad camp or anything, it just means it's not the place for your child. So, please stop saying it's such a horrible camp. CAMP KINDER RING IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE. 12533<3 Kids don't go back because of traditon, we go back because it's home. SUMMER '08!! Another summer filled with greatness and fun!

Just not a good or safeplace to send your kids. Camp falling apart-need new septic which management ignores. One day the alums will wake up and realize just because they went there doesn't make it better. Go visit other camps and you will see the difference. The staff is also inadequately trained. Management poor which tricles all the way down to office staff and counselors as well.

I was disappointed that my daughters camp experience was not as happy as it should have been. The supervision was not good and she was even left on her own at an amusement park while the staff went on rides. Her counselors did not attempt to stop ridiculing of children which went on in her division. Alumni children appear to be treated more favorably. The grounds are very nice but the bunks need some updating.

We had a call with our children this week who are at Kinder Ring, and just as was the case on visiting day, they had nothing but fantastic things to say about camp. Our daughter raved about her "divisional olympics" and our son was so excited about a recent surprise late-night pool party. They are really having a fabulous summer. Like many others, when we saw the camp a few years ago, it needed some work. Well that work was done, because the camp and facilities look great. This camp has more indoor facilities for rainy day activities than any other camp we have seen. We also love the fact that both of our kids have at least two counselors in their divisions who have been part of Kinder Ring for many years - it gives us great comfort to know that those people who are taking care of our kids really care about the camp too. Everything that we have heard and seen from our kids has been great this summer (just as it was for our son last year). We are very happy that we chose Kinder Ring.

Nearly every child who goes to camp thinks it is the best camp because they have nothing to compare to.This is true for most parents as well.KR is a camp that is very poorly run both at the director level and the boy and girl head counselors. The facilities are quickly declining as the water, bathrooms, etc. are in dire need of repair.Yes, the Jewish component of this camp is nice but if that is so important to you, there are plenty of religious camps to choose from. The bottom line is the lack of leadership at the top results in a lack of counselor training which results in bad supervision, no creativity and laziness. THe kids lounge aroung all day long. A rainy activity is bouncing a ball against a wall in the bunks. I thought this camp was ok too until I witnessed significant supervision problems, punishment of children (yes I mean physical and emotional punishment) and lying to the parents about what goes on at camp. I truly feel this camp is unsafe and parents should beware.

This Camp survives only because of the alumni sending their kids there, all in the name of tradition. With the exception of a few, the counselors are lazy and untrained. The specialty staff ranges from amazing to miserable. The administrative staff is overworked and rude. The sad thing is that the camp really had potential, but such is ruined by the upper level management and the supervisory staff. Seemingly the management and supervisory staff are there to have fun for themselves, and are disinterested in the fun or lack thereof that the campers are having. This camp suffers greatly from a lack of organization and supervision from the top to the bottom rung. The lack of activity and excitement is accepted & ignored. Children who are not alumni are generally treated differently. We made a mistake by trusting our children to this camp. Choose wisely & don't settle! There are so many fantastic camps to go to with supervision, trained counselors, activities and happy campers. Good Luck!

Camp Kinder Ring is the most amazing place in the world. This summer will be my sixth, but because my parents met there, Kinder Ring has been in our family for many years. Every year we anxiously await the first day of camp; the day when we will finally be reunited with our best friends. Kinder Ring is more then just a camp, it's a place where traditions are carried out. From Shtiller every Friday night to Macabbean Games and Olympics, Kinder Ring spirit never dies. Counting down the days with our camp friends is what gets us through the school year. As we pack our bags for camp this summer, I couldn't be more excited. I'm so happy that I'm able to go to the amazing camp that my parents went to and I know that one day I'll send my kids to Kinder Ring too.

I went to this camp as a counselor from the UK. I can honestly say that it was the most miserable experience of my life. The staff treated counselors from abroad, particularly the non-jewish counselors, like a neccessary but unwelcome infestation upon their camp. For staff, it is like prison, you will be watched every where you go, your personal freedoms will be restricted, and you will lose every ounce of your confidence. If you are an English counselor who has been recruited through camp America, CCUSA or Bunac to work at this camp, I urge you to reconsider. Its not all bad though...I beat the system and earned more tips than any other counselor that year. PLUS I'm now an attorney living in Long Island, New York. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Kinder Ring is an amazing summer home for our four children. Due to the fact that Kinder Ring is not privately owned, all alumni and current staff and campers feel as though it is their own! The traditions and camp experiences that "Kinder Ringers" have been sharing for the past 80 years are so special and so much a part of so many people's lives. Many facilities have been recently renovated and will definitely add to the AMAZING summers that ourchildren experience each year! The campers, counselors and staff come back each year because it is the BEST! Kinder Ring is definitely our family's HOME AWAY FROM HOME!!!!
