I have been going here and love it. I got USPB here and love taking out big boats. Everything here is perfect and it's just 350 acres of amazingness. The also deal with bad behavior perfectly.

office staff is very bad. sent my daughter something much needed. they simply sent it back. instead of calling my cell they said they called my home phone said they called my husband (same home number) - seemed totally clueless about how to reach parents for important matters. were defensive and did not acknowledge they had mishandled the situation.

I sent my boys to Seagull last year and they are returning this year as well. I was impressed by the facilities, program, and most of all the people. I don't know another camp in America that has an 18 hole golf course. I love their "ranks" program. Boys love numbers and are always trying to achieve more and be exposed to more. They are not competitive with each other, but with themselves. The camp makes sure campers are exposed to all activies and have mastered basics by measurement before they can specialize. I like that.

When you see anyone that has anything negative to say about any aspect of these camps you are seeing someone that has unrealistic expectations. Camp is about being a kid, learning new things and having experiences of a lifetime. It does not get ANY better than this.

My children are returning for their second summer this year, and I hope they will continue to attend as long as they are able. I could not hope for a better camp experience for them, and highly recommend it.

I went to camp homesick, and I came back campsick! The sailing and motorboating here is absolutely incredible, and they have every activity imaginable on land! It's a beautiful camp, watching the sun rise over the Neuse is one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. The girls you meet at camp are like your sisters when you leave, and I talk to them all throughout the years. The staff at Seafarer is wonderful, my counselors became my role models during and after camp. Going to Camp Seafarer was one of the best decisions I ever made, and I would recommend the camp to anyone.

This is my son's ninth summer, he is 15 and returning as a Counselor in Leadership Training. I will sum it up simply this way, we drove in and his exact words "I love this place so much,.... I could just cry." Enough said!

This place is truly excdeptional! My son returned with all kinds of self confidence and manners. He just can't wait for next summer, and I am all about him going back. He wears his camp swim band every day around his wrist. The staff gathered all kinds of information beforehand about our son and our difficult home situation to tailor counselors and special attention specifically for him. All this in a camp with 600+ boys! Amazing facilities with championship golf course, an armada of all kinds of boats, and they even take the boys out on jeeps through mud trails. Boy heaven.

I spent more than a year of my life as a camper here every summer, and worked here as well. Yes, it has some of the best facilities in the world, but more importantly -- its emphasis on character and values and camper independence makes it one of the finest growth experiences a child can have. I can not imagine there is a better place in the world to send your son or daughter to camp! While it is owned and operated by the YMCA, it is entirely and remarkably inclusive to kids from all walks of life and faiths. The camp is very popular in areas like Maryland, Virginia and New York in addition to North Carolina. The sailing program is 2nd to none but the camp provides a broad range of activities that engages kids regardless of their interest in sailing. Daily swim instruction is provided and is excellent as well. This camp, although non-profit, is relatively expensive but you get what you pay for.

after having spent time at other summer camps in the past, i can say with 100% honesty that absolutly NONE of the camps I have been to in the past have given me an experience that would even compare to the experience i received at seagull. The activities are unforgettable, and I highly doubt that at any other camp you can actually receive a lisence to operate a motorboat anywhere in the US. This camp actually has a system of ranks for each activity which is very smart in my opinion, because campers go out to the activities and they are motivated to become better at the activities that they enjoy. The camp also is very free; there is no schedule during activity periods and campers can just go to whatever activity they want, whenever they want. The staff and campers are also amazing, there is not one mean kid that I met in my 4 weeks of seagull; same with counselors. Camp seagull has not only made me a better boater, but its made me a better person. Now that is what I call a summer camp!

I have nothing but fabulous things to say about Camp SeaGull and Camp Seafarer. I cannot thank these camps enough for everything I've learned. CSF gave me the wings to fly. I have amazing memories which will last a lifetime and I have without a doubt spent the best 5 summers of my life with Camp Seafarer. Advice to anyone who is on the fence about coming to CSF or CSG: do it. You will be so glad you did. I cannot begin to explain the values and morals of Camp Seafarer. It is a truly outstanding place. These camps are not your typical summer camps. They are so much more.

I was a camper here for 8 summers, along with being an extended season camper. My time as a camper was truly wonderful and I think a lot of who I am today is due to the lessons I learned camp. I am now a counselor and I have worked weekends, fall, spring and summer camp. Every program Seagull and Seafarer touches is amazing. A place where character truly counts and creating a caring community is emphasized. Camp is looked at highly in the area as well as all over the world. The facilities set the standards for camping. Seagull has the largest inland pier in the US and between the two camps they have the second largest fleet of boats in the US, behind the United States Navy! The land activities are just as amazing, with safety being the priority. This place is amazing and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Camp Seafarer is the best camp ever. Once you make a friend there, you can be friends with them for life. The counselors there are great because you can always talk to them. One of my favorite activities is sailing on the sunfish - they have a lot of them. I've only been going to Camp Seafarer for one year but now I have very high expectations for other camps. My mom thinks it is great balance between being very nice/very simple - not too rustic, not too posh.

There was some very inappropriate behavior on the part of some of the other boys. I was actually shocked at what my son said. So, be sure you know how inappropriate behavior will be handled and insist on expusion from camp for intollerable behavior. Make sure you stay in touch with your son while there. Lots of foul language on the part of the boys as well.

Seagull and Seafarer are the classic camp experience. They have a long history, Seagull starting in 1948. The emphasis is seafaring, as the names imply, with sailing the flagship activity. My father attended the first 5 years of Seagull's existence. I attended in the mid 1970s for 5 years myself. My 2 sons attended for the first time last year(2007). Seafarer is somewhat newer, but shares Seagull's philosophy and largely duplicates the facilities offered. They are well run, very safe, with an almost quaint emphasis on traditional values. Counselors, mostly college students, address you with "sir" or "maam" and use Mr. X. Campers line at the flagpole before meals, and everything is run to bugles. There's a military feeling, but discipline is integrated with the activities in a way that makes kids want to behave. There's the emphasis on awards which motivate learning while playing. If you're looking for a strong traditional summer camping experience for your child, this is the place.

Counselor at this camp for 4 years, and a family camper for 24, yes 24! Absolutely top of the line with safety, attitude and activities the best to find. Well trained staff and top notch facilities. Camp has wide range of activities, but sailing and motorboating are the most popular. Seafarer and Sea Gull both have large piers to support their respective sea activities. A must camp to visit if you are looking for a camp to send a child to. Once a child goes here, they want to return every year, and often continue as counselors. As you can see at the beginning of my comments, I was a counselor 4 years and returned with my family at family camp for 24 (also sent children to camp by themselves for several years.

I went to camp for 4 summmers. Amazing. Amazing. Camp Seafarer gives you so many oppourtunities, great activities, and people that you will never forget. I had so much fun these past summers that i always miss it. You make amazing friends! I keep in touch with alot of them, and the consulers are wonderful! The food is great, the activites are new and fun, and its absolutley beautiful! If im upset or somthing and sombody says imagine your self in a very relaxing place youve been, I always think about the nights were me and my friends would lay on the end of the peir, watching the sunset turn into stars and hear the waves under us. Its pure bliss. Some many people are nice! They have basically a new acticity every night, weather it be a campfire, cabin night, camp night, scavenger hunts, dances with seagull ( one of my faves) and so much more! Its my second home.the girls in your cabin become sisters, the councilers older sisters. Camp Seafarer has truly touched my life forver. I love CSF

Camp Seagull is like no other! You have so much fun here! It cant be described! The one summer I spent here was the best summer in my entire life! I met so many awesome people from all over the US and had so much fun with all of them. Like 99% of the staff their is really cool and just wants to have fun. If most of the councilors didnt have some facial hair I would think that they are all campers because of how much fun you have! Its amazing how the enviroment of Camp Seagull is so amazing, its like just bieng their you automaticly just get together with random people you meet, and go sailing or motorboating or whatever. The summer I was their we did alot of nothing. If your into intense sailing or motorboating with some friend, or if your into extreme sports and games of like tag with 500+ people, or your like me, and like getting a ton of friends together during the day and sitting at the point away from society, just talking right by the ocean. Amazing, Beautiful camp. :))

There is no other word to explain Camp Seafarer, but HAPPINESS. It is a place where anyone can be a kid and where there is never a dull moment. Seafarer is a camp that teaches all of us to find the goodness in others and in life. This is a camp that is powered solely by the amount of heart its staff has. It is an amazing place and an experience like no other. I highly recommend this camp because it has changed my life in just one summer.

I have no words to explain the godliness of Camp Seafarer. It is more of a home to me than my actual home is. When I'm at home, I get campsick. It's impossible to go there and not enjoy yourself! Reccommended to the highest of standards.

This camp is totally worth it. One of the best things in my mind is that everyone, including the directors is on a first name basis with each other. It is absolutely ok if a 7 year old in the youngest Camp calls the director of Camp by her first name. It also gives people a chance to come out of their shell without experiencing ridicule. It is one of the most caring communities I've ever been in. I went there for six summers and they were some of the best in my life. Please, send your daughter here, she will love it!!!

This camp is sailing and motorboating oriented. It is absolutely amazing. You hear about those magical summer expierences all the time, this is the place that they are talking about. So many people love this camp so much that they have a 95% return rate. Many of the campers return as councilors. This camp helped me grow so much. I went there not knowing a single person and returned with friends that I still talk to several years later. I would easily say that this camp has been the most positive expierence in my life to date.
