Great Camp! Excellant for the scouting program! Can work toward achievement along the Eagle trail. All merit badges can be earned. Camp staff is great/friendly/knowledgeable and committed to the success of the camp and the camping experience. I would not be an Eagle scout today if not for this place. In addition, working on staff allows one to develope quality leadership skills to be successful in the world today. Again, I truly believe that the leadership skills I learned at HSR/ESSR were the deciding factor in my achievements to date (including law school and employment with the FBI). GREAT PLACE!!!

The camp is fully accredidated by the BSA, meeting all standards for Boy Scouts and Venturers. The Cub Scout program will be reviewed on Aug 4, during the Webelos week. Personal attention and setting up boys to succeed, is the goal of the staff.

As the parent of 2 boys who have been campers and are now staff I have nothing but good things to say. I never worried about their safety and well being. They looked forward to being at camp as campers and couldn't get enough of it. The staff has made many memorable summers for my boys year after year. A more expensive camp can't come close to what Strang has to offer. Now as staff they are making other boys stay at Strang as memorable as their own. Money doesn't buy everything and camp Strang is a good example of that. The heart of the camp is what brings campers back. That is the beautiful setting, the great activities, the happy and knowledable staff, and the opportunities that abound. Even scouts from England and Ireland love it and long to come back.

This camp is the gem of the northeast. although small in stature, the camp is excellent. The staff knows all scouts by their names and vice versa. There are daily activities from sunrise to bed time. There is always a friendly atmosphere. The staff is full of enthusiasm and the dining hall constantly "rocks" after all meals. The food is prepared by an excellent chef and kitchen staff and not an outside cartering firm or food service. They are all scouts. The waterfront is on a private lake and has all sorts of activities. The Aquatics director has been there for over 25 years. Although advancement is stressed through merit badges, there are plenty of other activities. There is even a special program for 1st year campers. There are nightly campfires, boating activities and a weekly dance with a neighboring camp. There are free shooting range activities including but not limited to rifle, black powder and shotgun shooting. The price is one of the lowest in the state.

In the earlier part of this decade it was named one of the Top 10 Scout Camps in the USA by Scouting Magazine. Dedicated and well trained staff know the campers by name and provide a program that is second to none. Awesome aquatics area and lively dining hall with a scenic view of West Side Pond. New Showering facility breaking ground in the fall. Wouldn't take my troop to any other camp in CT.

Nice community, lacks all of the things the larger camps in Connecticut have. No money is put in and the program is not very expansive. I think that this camps trouble is based in a council that seriously lacks resources and vision.

This is one of the best camps for scouts in America. The kids are always smiling, and the staff is great. They have an excellent waterfront program, and an excellent shooting program, were kids learn safe responsilbe use of firearms. They also teach the kids many life skills that can be applied to daily use. They also offer a varitety of meritbadges, from mammal study to personal fittness. The staff is also very well mannerd and takes our trainning very seriously.

This is a postage size camp that has little of offer. There program is based upon MB’s only! Scout walk out of there with too many MB's and not enough fond memories.

This is one of the best Scout camps in the Northeast. It is small enough where you get to know many of the campers and staff. It also has a wonderful staff who makes the summer a wonderful experience for the boys. The weekly dances with the girls camps in the area are another plus with many of the campers. Check it out!
