Attending Cheley Camp was the single best thing we did for our daughters. They made friends, challenged themselves, learned new skills but mostly discovered their own inner power and strength. They found courage, support, confidence and so much more. They are so well cared for but not babied. They develop independence. They particularly loved archery, riflery, riding, fishing and hiking. The Cheley family has continued to develop young children for decades.

My daughter attended camp Cheley last year and has been overall pleased with it. Great staff, well organized activities, and friendly camp atmosphere are the pluses. The downside is the low quality of food. Fruits and vegetables were very limited, no daily fruit/salad bar. There were too many starches: white bread, and pastas. A lot of times there were fast food and fried food on the menu. It would be nice to see healthier menu at camp next summer, where children are not deprived of fruits and vegetables and good sources of protein.

Cheley is by far the best summer camp I have ever been to as a kid. I am always excited to return each year not just for the great things we do, but the amazing friendships I have built that will last a lifetime. Cheley is my second home and will always be considered paradise to me. The food, staff, activities, lodging, and transportation has been fined down to near perfection. Cheley summer camp..I love you

I love Cheley. It's a very loving environment, and it is my favorite part of the year. I have made so many friends there. Actually, today I am leaving to go to my 5th summer at Cheley. The staff is loving and supportive and make you feel at home. Once, some girls at camp were homesick so we had a "homesick party" with gummy bears and stories of home and comfort. The facilities are amazing. Some are very old, but they are EXTREMELY well kept up. The activities are amazing and make you feel on top of the world and make you feel like you can do anything: peaking a mountain, getting to the top of an outdoor rock face (rock wall), riding a horse on a dusty mountain pass, or cantering in the ring, mountain biking, crafts, swimming, backpacking, taking a horse on an overnight trip, or just camping out under the stars. You get to do what YOU want. You feel like you have a second home at Cheley. It does cost a lot for many families, but it is DEFINETLY worth it. I love and reccomend Cheley!

We used to BEG our parents to get to attend Cheley every summer and we were so very fortunate that they indulged us. They saw how we flourished and became better people. Our experiences were the most formative of our adolescence; we came away with a greater respect for the outdoors, diversity and ourselves. We tested our personal limits and thrived in our accomplishments and those of our fellow campers. Rarely a day goes by that my experience at Cheley doesn't come to mind. We had so much fun backpacking, doing crafts, singing goofy camp songs, eating in the dining halls, riding horses, sleeping in smelly army tents, honing our marksmanship, and making friends with people that lived all over the world; all the while forming our character. It IS expensive these days but in my estimation, more valuable than any formal schooling. Thirty-plus years after my Cheley Days, I'd give anything to go back and do it again!

even 20 years removed, cheley camp was one of the best experiences in my life. now with children of my own, i rank cheley as a must have experience for my kids. i wish it werent so expensive and it will be a financial burden, but to me, it is a required experience - frankly on par with going to college.

This is a camp catering to the wealthy, the more you give the appearance that you will increase the Cheley family's coffers, the more attention your child will receive... Your child will come away with nothing of value... other than the ability to compare their parents wealth with other children

This camp is amazing. You get to spend a whole month in Estes Park! There are different units within the camp that are divided by age and gender. They do a good job of mixing the groups on occasion. In my opinion, Boys Trails End is the best unit to be in. Its for boys 13-17. BTE is about 20 miles from the main camp and is in an isolated forest setting. You sleep in covered wagons with three other guys, and share the bath house ("The boathouse"). Great hiking, great backpacking cause you're by Rocky Mtn. Nat' Park, with some of the best scenery around. Food is good, counselors are the best and overall a great time.

I will never forget my time at cheley! It is the most touching and connecting experiance in the world. You meet people from all over the WORLD! It makes the world feel a little closer together and a little nicer. You will never want to go home after just a week at this camp. From the horses to the great and entergetic staff you will never regret going to cheley!! You may want to go to both terms instead of one and be there for two mounths!! The mountains and Estes Park are beautiful and breathtaking. Hiking them is unforgetable and a tremendous thing to accomplish. GO there and be amazed at how great one mounth can be!!!!

My Cheley experience took place in the 60's and 70's for 15 years. Nothing has touched my life more than my summers at camp. I became an excellent horseman and my love for horses carries on to this day. Friendships are absolutely the best you will ever make in your life and will last forever. You become a better person, a spiritual person and a genuine person at Cheley camps. My leadership ability is deeply rooted in my experience as a wrangler. Being so connected to Cheley, at 51 years old, I am back working as a wrangler at Family Camp!

Cheley is a terrific program. The staff are personable and professional with a strong sense of child development always in mind. Campers are given the opportunity to participate in activities in nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. They are designed to accomodate any range of abilities. The facility is first rate and so is the food. Campers come away from their Cheley experience better people than they were before with a greater appreciation for life and a better understanding of their natural surroundings. Strongly recommend this camp to anyone who wants to invest in their childs future. It is a gift that they will remember for a life time. Camp administration is active year round in promoting the camp experience nationwide. The owners have been leaders in the camp community for years.
