My camper just spent almost 2 weeks at this camp. She told me the counselors told her daily to stay out of their personal bubble while on their cell phones, go away, none of your business,and more unkindly comments to a 10 year old with some special needs! This is not a welcoming environment and sounds like the counselors to find new jobs. The medical staff do not take health needs communicated seriously at all,and lacking communication when issues arise. My kid has a headache and was given nothing to relieve it, and I was told by healthcare staff it was stress. When I specifically told the camp ahead of time my kid could have side effects from a medication. Kids are also not allowed to pick their activities which is unfortunate. A lot more training needs to be done for the counselors or ones that actually want to be working with kids. Broke my heart to hear about her experience.

I was a camper at this summer camp and have worked on staff. All I can tell you is this is the most toxic environment out there. Not only does the staff not care about the kids and are not properly trained, the kids are free to do basically whatever they want. As a camper kids love going because we feel like we have ultimate freedom. As a staff member I highly discourage working here. Head staff is extremely rude and does not accommodate your needs. They care more about money than safety. They will not hesitate to embarrass your kid whether you know or not. Anything that happens to your kid the entire staff will find out and it spreads fast. Nothing is a secret no bodies privacy is safe. This camp is a means for disaster. As someone who has gone to this camp for over ten years I will NEVER return or send my kid here.

This camp is not much more than glorified babysitting because it is just too big. Jim hid his head in the sand during covid and the only good thing coming out of Cleveland is that he has been fired (oops - “retired”). They finally saw the light that the guy hasn’t done anything new in 20 years. Kids like it because they don’t know any different.

This will be my ninth year going and from what i have experienced, it is the best camp i have ever been to. I personally love camp because at camp i share special friendships and memories unlike any others. through my first few years at camp my siblings and the staff helped me adjust to being at a camp. As my years progressed, the staff and camps activities helped me come to the realization that for this one month of the year, i like being at camp with my friends rather than being at my house .But life started to change when i got to teen village. I started changing in ways that helped form better friendships. But JIT year was a real game changer. Since you are kind of forced to form a mutual bond with everyone in the unit, it really helped. Now that i am going back sit year, i have my best friends.

If diet and weight are an issue, this camp is not for you. Amazingly, kids gained weight after a summer at Barney. The camp is overrun with snacks and treats that seem to be part of camp culture. This includes after-meal desserts, milk and cookies at night, and a canteen with lots of treats. Camp Barney even has its own candy, the "Barney Bar," which is a major marketing tool to kids. More activity and fewer snacks would vastly improve this camp. Not good for kids struggling who are overweight.

This is my 7th year here, and I am going into Alufim! I have been going here since my age group was allowed, and if that doesn't tell you anything then there is something wrong with you. Camp creates unbreakable bonds in trustworthy, friendship, and adventure. I have had so many amazing memories here that I will cherish for the rest of my life. There is always something to do, and you are never bored. You wait all year long to go here, and when you're finally there it goes by in a flash. Smiles when you first arrive, and tears when you have to leave, this camp beats them all hands down.

This camp was horrible. The worst counselors though they claim to have the best. I guess if you think teaching your 8 yr old what the f word means is a quality counselor. Back in the day this camp may have been good but unless you have personal ties to this camp dont waste your money. The counselors could careless about your kid and they are not expected to clean up after themselves or work as a team. One child in particular threatened several children in my sons cabin and when the kids tried to report this they were told that they didn't want to hear about it. It turns out this child has sever emotional and mental problems and should not have been with these kids. Not that the camp will admit to it. Neither of my kids will ever go here again!

This was my first year and since I was 13, I figured people would have already made close friends and not be interested in meeting me. I was completely wrong. Everyone is so inviting and inclusive, no matter how many years you've been there. I tried so many new activities, made so many friends and the food was good too! It was the best summer of my life and I have been waiting all year to go back this summer!!

Just so everyone knows, this camp is the most amazing place in the entire world. I do not know why someone would just say that it is terrible, probably some of those stories that people put up are not even true. Do not believe them, this camp is absolutely amazing. I worked at Camp Barney and I had the worst summer of my life. The head staff and regular staff were inexperienced, and the directors could have cared less about the staff, except for the members who tattle-tailed on other staff. One example of the camp's disregard for the well-being of staff members was the first day of camp. I was put in the back of a u-haul in 105 degree weather and had to distribute luggage throughout the camp. I threw up twice. I was also grossly underpaid for the amount of work I did (the strained muscles in my back have still not healed). It was a 6 day a week and at least a 9 hour work day for two months- and I got 1300 dollars. All you do is work, eat, take a freezing shower, and pass out at 11 o'clock (you get off of work at 9 and you wake up at 7:00-7:30). My advice is never EVER work there unless you want a bad back, poor pay, and to be treated as cheap, dispensable labor.

CAMP BARNEY MEDINTZ is probably the thing i look forward to the most all year long. Whether it's counting down the days on the blog, or locked in my room reading the CBM newsletter, I am "addicted" to camp. It is definitely my home away from home, and I love it.I am going on my 3rd year, and am looking forward to it. I love every single activities, and me, a vegetarian, even adore the delicious meals. As i am going into 6th grade and a new middle school, a lot of my friends are going to other schools. But SO many good friends of mine go to camp, and i always meet new ones. My fave activities are the blob, the water slide "The Hurricane", Tubing, and rope courses like the flying squirrel and others. my ALL TIME fave would have to be the bog, a mudpit that we go in on Lake Louis. The staff is incredible, and every unit has a trip each year, For example, in Shomrim (a unit) we go tubing on the Chattahoochee, and in Giborim, we go on an all-day kayaking trip. I recommend CBM for any age!!

This is going to be my 5th year back at CBM and I love it! If you can find a better camp anywhere in the southeast, I will eat my computer. The 2 lakes provide many amazing activities that other camps do not have, the cabins raelly give you the camp feel, the age grouping is beneficial to creating lasting friendships and I just love it. The only bad thing is that it is only a month long! If you aren't sure about it, you can visit sometime in May, it's on their website, www.campbarney.org. AMAZING!

This will be my 7th year at CBM. I can honestly say that Camp Barney Medintz is my home away from home. To so many kids, this is place is their summer home. I come back from camp every year wishing it was not over and i could stay there year-round. CBM is a place sor fun, friends, and family (our cbm family). Strong bonds between friends and religion are made. So many memories are made here for each and every person that Camp Barney Medintz can not be compared to anything else. i love camp barney like i love a best friend! it is my summer place forever.

I've talked to many others about their experiences at other summer camps, but never have I met more of an enthusiastic crowd than those who went to CBM. As a camper and then staff member for more than 10 years, I can proudly say that this place changes people's lives, including my own. Although the atmosphere has changed since I first got there, it has not been for the worst, only different. If you are looking for an amazing experience for your child in the southeast, this is the place to be.

I went there many years ago and interestingly enough I'd say what most of the people say still holds true about Camp Barney! I STILL know many of the same people today that I met as a kid/teen and I went there 33 years ago! My friends kids are going there now as well some for 5 plus years! For lasting friends it's tops!

There is not one thing bad about Camp Barney Medintz. i Love this place SOOOO much and not a day goes by that i dont think about all the fun times at camp. Every year i countdown until when i go back because camp is such a huge part of my life. The friends i meet here will last a lifetime, the staff is incredible, and it is a really FUN place to be. There is so much to do that when i get home i am so bored. The memories i make here will last forever. I met my best friend at camp. this place is A.M.A.Z.I.NG. CBM gets a A+ for me! :)

Camp Barney Medintz is the absolute best place on earth i have never felt so much at home when i am there it is like everyone has known me for so long and i have only known them for a short time! Not a day goes by that i want to go home or that i miss my parents! The fun never ends and i always have something to do! Its amazing how much fun they put into even the most boring activities! I cannot wait to return in july and i definitly cannot wait to go back and become staff there! I love Camp Barney Merdintz more than my own home at times and I am so lucky to go to a camp that is one of the best in the country! I have made so many amazing friends over the past tens years that i have gone to camp and i hope to continue to make new friends as the years past! CBM is an amazing cxamp and i will never ever go anywhere else no matter what! I love it so much and i cant wait to return to my summer place again! It will be a great summer i just know it and i will never forget it no matter what!!!

I went for five years. Its a great camp and they always seem to have new activities each year. Wouldn't go any place else. By the way, to the person who gave it all ones, if you hate it so much, why don't you leave a reason? You probably didn't even go here.

I spent 14 years camping and working at Barney. I haven't been back in 7 years, but I miss it a ton! Lots of great activities and fun campers ... not total japs like you find at other Jewish camps.

This camp offers a variety of activities that vary according to the age of the child. Teens as well as younger children are fully engaged. Kids love it there.
