Click to report rating    9/10/10   5     5     5     3     4   This was my daughter's first year at Destination Broadway. The program is very very good and offers the talented group of kids some real professional teachers in real professional enviornments. The classes are challenging but they make it a lot of fun. The group got to see a Broadway play Billy Elliot and met the cast after the show. My daughter was chosen to audition for a broadway play and this was clearly a highlight for her! The only thing I think they could improve on would be to offer some sort of individual assessment or feedback at the end of the week. Perhaps some ideas on what my daughter could work on to improve, what her strengths were, etc. If you child is obsessed with performing then this is the camp for you. Most of the moms stay in the hotel with the kids and the overall experience was very positive. We will be back again in the future! RID: 34025
Click to report rating    7/23/10   5     5     5     4     5   This will be my third year at destination broadway and I think it is the best camp you're child could possibly go to if they are interested in theatre. The staff is amazing, Mr. Rafter is amazing, you get every cent back, your child will make tons of friends (as I did). And the memories are everlasting. I think destination broadway flat out rocks! Click to report rating    2/10/09   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter attended 4 years and it has clearly been a defining factor in choosing Musical Theater as a career. From the first info meeting w/Broadway Musical Director, Michael Rafter,it has been exciting and motivating. She appreciates the honest feedback from all instructors, who earned her respect by not only being talented (as per their many Broadway credits) but also by being fair and honest. Not every student will be a "triple threat" and go on to pursue this as a career, but all will go out into the world with a new sense of confidence and respect for themselves and one another. Singing, acting and dancing are taught, and yes, the dancing is difficult at times. My experience is this motivated students who didn't have strong dance backgrounds to "fake it til you make it" then go home & get serious about studying. Very organized by a staff with integrity. See a show, meet current Broadway stars & a look "behind the scenes" were some highlights. Lifelong friends:Priceless. RID: 28931
Click to report rating    1/11/09   4     5     5     4     5   My daughter has attended for 4 yrs. & found this a fantastic opportunity for those who are serious & committed. Camp best suits those with advanced skills in dance and who are outgoing and self-reliant. Only negative is that camp doesn't build on itself - for those who want to keep returning they get the same experience as before with different people, but without increase in skill level and depth. NYC theatre community is deeply involved and committed to this endeavor and students are led by professionals at all times. Down time during the week is simply during the sleep hours. Students are well chaperoned and well taken care of. Accommodations are top notch and food and beverage is readily available to campers. Students have ample opportunity for Q & A with professionals and picture opportunities. Many surprises in store, too. My daughter has met many actors and actresses while at the studios - this past summer is was Whoopi who was taking dance classes in the same facility! RID: 28524
Click to report rating    8/4/08   3     5     4     2     3   This camp was funish, but not what i had expected. It was really intense, and not like a summer camp at all. A lot of the girls were really catty, and you have to be amazing at singing acting and especially dance. You have to have a tough skin, and be used to rejection. I did make some nice people and learned a lot of useful information. RID: 25425
Click to report rating    7/23/08   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is soo much fun. Only go if you are serious about performing. If you are this camp can help you increase your talents amazingly! RID: 25076
Click to report rating    10/14/07   5     4     5     3     3   A great camp for anyone seriously interested in making musical theater a career. This has a great program concentrating on both the talent and business aspect of broadway. Warning: A strong background in acting, singing, AND dancing is practically required. If you can't keep up, there is little staff to help you. RID: 16206
Click to report rating    3/28/07   5     5     5     5     4   My daughter went and had a fantastic time. The emphasis was on the skills needed to perform on Broadway. A lot of the classes were taught by actual Broadway performers (many Tony Award winners). They got to see a Broadway play and go behind stage to see the hard work that it takes to put a professional production on. It was a bit pricey (especially since we had to travel from VA), but it was an experience that my kid still raves about. In fact, she still writes another child that she met there! RID: 9049
