i dont know about the real camp but coming from multiple campers from the camp across the lake this camp is the LOUDEST camp on our lake. Constant noise late at night and the kids are mean and insult the kids during soccer games and sports between our two camps. oh and the kids constantly are kissing its so weird. anyways super loud and annoying

I have been going to camp for six years and it is honestly played a huge role in shaping who I am today. Billings may not have the fanciest facilities or limitless resources but that will only further your bond with your fellow campers. Cleaning your own cabins and bathrooms instills a value of hardwork and responsibility. The campers and staff both value kindness above all else. Whenever I was having a hard time and needed someone to talk to i was met with love and positive energy. The friendships I have made at billings are stronger than any from school or elsewhere. The spontaneous events (where yes, you might get some glitter in your hair) teach you how to embrace life for all of its craziness and really enjoy it.Also, the cabins are old but certainly not GROSS. I've never met anyone who didn't like camp, so come with an open mind and heart, and have your world be forever changed.

As someone who has been going to this camp for 9 years as a camper and coming up on my first year as a Councilor in training, I may be a bit biased in saying that this camp is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. While some of the reviews may be about the camp being too loud and not traditional, that is what makes Camp Billings so great. It brings out the kid in all of us. The councilors and councilors in training are all some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. I have formed close bonds at this camp, and made friendships that I assume will last for a long time. Most of my time outside of Billings’ white gates are spent wishing I was at camp. If you are looking to send your kids off to a boring, traditional summer camp, look no further than any other camp on the lake. But, if you want your kid to have a memorable summer, look no further than Camp Billings.

The facilities were palatial, the nature tranquil and serene. As one meanders across the campus one can detect the Emersonian truths of the transcendentalists. The children embody a certain righteousness and purity that one longs for in ones waning years. I stumbled across a true ruby in on the campus in the form of a library. I dared to slip inside its wide door frame and came upon discourse of metaphysical realities. The intellectual fervor was palpable. There is a ubiquitous joy that surrounds this camp and its staff. The stark absence of technology was both noted and appreciated. There is a certain liberation of the mind and body in its absence. I will forever long once again to feel emancipated from the fetters of my existential plight. However, one is able to find a taste of this freedom by living vicariously through ones own children and sending them to this wonderful place.

I think the first thing to mention is that this place has 110 + years of continuous operation under its belt... if that isn’t a testimony as to how amazing this place is, then I don’t know what is. I’ve been going to this place for 14 years, and I am now a counselor, as did my mother in her youth. Yes, this place is loud and crazy and we will never shy away from that. Kids are asked to by quiet and calm 10 months of the year and school, sitting on a chair and doing what they’re told. So yes, for as long as they are at Billings they can yell, and run, and they have the freedom to do the activities THEY want to do. Crafts all day? Great! Canoeing five minutes basketball for the rest of the afternoon? Why not. And all this freedom within a stimulating and safe environment. But most of all an place where your kids will feel loved and welcome, a place they will grow up to call home. Can you really ask for anything more ?

Camp Billings was my home away from home for 10 years. Both of my siblings attended too and my family could not have been more happy with the experiences and learning that was done at this camp. As a camper, I felt that camp was the one place I could go and be myself. I never felt the need to do anything I didn't want to do and always had options. There were always new people to play with and new activities. I think one of the best parts of Camp Billings was that I didn't have to be in one place at any one time (except funning but funning is amazing of course). I could go sailing or do crafts or even sit on the green benches and play the guitar. All interests are met at Camp Billings and I will 100% send my children there. It is free spirited and lively and I would not have changed my experience for anything in the world. Additionally, I met my best friends and that's because I was ALWAYS myself at Camp Billings.

Camp Billings is the best place in the world! When I am there, I feel accepted and loved by my camp family. School is so stressful and hectic, but Camp Billings is really a happy place for me and my friends. It is so much fun! Plus, I love Lake Fairlee. There is nothing sweeter than playing in that lake.

The camp like to involve itself in peoples personal matters and assist in parental alienation. Not sure why a camp would want to get involved in personal legal matters but this one likes to.

A niece of mine attended Billings and did not like it at all. Now that we live nearby in the summer, I understand why. I've never known a summer camp to be so loud and inconsiderate of its neighbors. Just read the other comments (from campers!) and you'll see it is not only the neighbors who mind. I can't imagine the educational benefit of all the yelling and screaming and rah-rah-rah culture over there. Given that they are located on a peninsula, with a relatively small campus, maybe they just don't know how else to keep kids engaged. It seems like a very unimaginative way to run things. If you want your kids to appreciate nature and notice a loon or two, this wouldn't be the place. Dont confuse use this one with any of the fabulous campus run by the Aloha Foundation on both Lake Fairlee and Lake Moreyl I wouldn't send my child to Billings for anything, but the lake is wonderful.

I am very disappointed that I sent my daughter to Camp Billings. They played a game where the winner was allowed to select a loser and put CRISCO in their hair. This game was supervised! My daughter was about 12 at the time and was appalled. She could not get that grease out of hair thru out the rest of the stay and is scarred for life about summer camps. Looking back I should of SUED! It seemed the camp counselors were there just to get a pay check and away from mommy and daddy. The recreation activities are a joke and the cabins are gross.

This is Henry Lang. CAMP BILLINGS IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME. I can't even describe in words how much this place means to me. I live 10 months out of each year for the 2 each summer in which I make memories to last a lifetime. Billings is the quintessential place to be and it's the highlight of my year. I would never choose to go to any other camp. The only bad thing about Billings is that once you go, you'll never want to leave!! EVER. I wish I were there right now. Sigh...

This camp is the best thing that has ever happened to me. This camp has made me into the woman I am today. I went to this camp as a camper for 9 years and have now been a staff member for 3 years. I still have friends and stay in contact with girls from my very first year as a camper. I feel blessed to have this rare opportunity of participating in an experience bigger than myself because this is not just a camp, but a home. The happiness and well-being of the children is the number one priority. We want campers to feel like themselves and break out of their shells. I'm not gonna say camp is for everyone, because it's not, but those people are in the minority. It is an experience like no other for children that are looking for a camp to call their home.

The Staff that actually interacts with the campers is great. The support Staff of the camp is completely incompetent and RUDE. They do not look for solutions to problems or issues, but would rather be part of the problem.

ok, all these things people are writing about kissing is soooo not true. I love Camp Billings and this will be my 2nd year this summer. All I do the whole year is keep in touch with my cabin and day dream about going back. during my 1st year, I was afraid I would be the new kid with no friends, but your cabin is like a family from the start! Yeah sure, we are loud. But that is because we are just so happy to be one family again. I am going to go to camp here until I am too old, then I will be a CIT. Trust me, if you are looking at some of these other ratings, they are not true. Camp Billings isn't a camp. Its a home.

I HATE THIS CAMP! THE PEOPLE HERE ARE SO MEAN! THE GIRLS ARE MEAN AND THE BOYS ARE SO PERVY! THE KIDS KISS ALL THE TIME AND ITS SO AWKWARD IF YOU DONT WANT TO KISS. THE MUSIC IS ALWAYS BLASTING, AND THE KIDS ARE SO MEAN TO THE CAMP ACROSS THE LAKE. THE CAMP ACROSS THE LAKE WONT INVITE US BACK TO THEIR BOAT JAMBORIE LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR BECAUSE SOME KIDS TRIED TO PUSH THEIR INSTRUCTER OFF THE BOAT. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN. WORST SUMMER OF MY LIFE.
