Our son has high-functioning autism. We met at a synagogue and a senior level camp staff member said that he would fit in just fine. The camp promoted their "inclusion specialist". I was assured that our son would feel accepted and Our son loved the activities, but felt BULLIED on a regular basis. He was verbally and physically bullied and told the counselor that he wanted to call us to go home. He was told that he could not. When I called the inclusion specialist to check on his well being, I was told that an challenges that our son had were not related to peers and were minor in nature. Our son said that there were no consequences for harassment. He never knew when the next incident would occur and felt ill at ease. When we picked him up he had an unusual hoarse voice. He said that it was from screaming for others to stop "doing stuff" to m RID: 47941
Click to report rating    5/29/14   5     5     5     5     5   I attended this camp from 99-04. Although it has been over 10 years since I last went I have nothing but fond memories. The best summers of my life were spent at Coleman - it truly is a magical place. When I went they had optional excursions, probably for a lot of extra money - white water rafting (AWESOME!), rock climbing, sailing. My last summer the only negative was that I didn't really "click" with my bunkmates - we were fourteen year old girls and I attended first session instead of second like usual. Every summer I left feeling positive and full of energy, and kept in touch with my friends for many years after. Oh and Maccabiah - I got to participate on the plaque team! :D I hope to send my daughter here when the time comes! RID: 47348

Click to report rating    8/18/12   5     4     5     5     5   I just ended my 7th and last summer as a camper. Bonim 06-chalutzim 12. Camp Coleman is honestly, my favorite place. But its not a place, its a home. It connected me to my judaism in so many ways and helped me discover things about myself on a daily basis. The friendships i have made here are ones i will hold onto forever. The staff are also incredible. They are there to make sure you have the best summer ever and they do exactly that. I still remember all of my counselors and they are honestly some of the people i look up to the most, and they will listen to you if you have any problems at all. The facilities might not be the fanciest, but that doesnt matter, its home. Just the atmosphere feels like a home, and i will miss being a camper so much. I highly recommend Coleman to everyone and anyone, and i hope you love it as much as i do <3 RID: 42429

Click to report rating    5/12/11   4     4     5     5     5   My first summer as a staffer was not the best, but after experiencing other camps. I believe coleman is one of the best out there, and am proud to be going back. I wish I had gone here as a camper, and will be sending my kids here when that day comes RID: 35873

Click to report rating    3/20/10   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is my life and I love it sooo much. It's going to be my 6th summer and I love it with all my heart. I encourage everybody to go who wants to get closer to Judaism and make new friends that last a lifetime. Your counselors become your best friends, and your friends become your sisters and brothers. The food is really good and there are a lot of choices like a salad bar/PB&J if you don't like the main meal. The activities are really fun and you can choose what you do starting in entering 7th grade (Tsofim). The lake is not the biggest, but there are lake activities including the Blob, aqua jump, and canoeing and kayaking. No water sports, but it's fine because you don't even miss that when you're already having a great time without it. The bunks have been renovated and are really nice (electricity and a bathroom). There are services everyday, but only about 45 minutes daily and then an hour Friday nights. They're mostly singing and stories, which is great! GO TO COLEMAN! <3 RID: 32412

Click to report rating    6/21/07   1     5     3     2     4   Camp Coleman was okay, but I didn't like my counslers too much, and i got homesick a lot. I'm not going back, but i wish i had a counsler named patrick who seems really nice! They dont let you pick what you want to do there, and i didn't like it. I suggest to go to camp meriwethier! and not camp barney! my broher is now in chalite there, and has been there eve since bonium, and loves it! but i hated it, and will never go back! RID: 12306
Click to report rating    5/29/07   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Coleman is my home. The staff is awesome. Best summers of my life were spent there. Chal '06 was amazingly fantastic. RID: 11246
Click to report rating    4/8/07   1     1     1     1     1   If it wasnt' for the counslours I would say that this camp should be torn to pieces. The people are terrible and the activities suck. The only reason I would ever go back to this camp is to be on staff so I could help the kids because, besides 2 or 3 people, no one else would. RID: 9535
