The CEC is an excellent program, plain and simple. It's not a traditional summer camp, and you won't learn basket-weaving or archery, but the programs are interesting, the staff are excellent and genuinely love what they do, and the facilities mix the natural and the contemporary with perfect harmony. The camp itself is located inside a provincial park, and they've worked a lot of the facilities avaliable to them into the programming: biology courses will examine pond life, physical education courses get to explore hiking trails, geology courses get to visit mines, and geomatics students can walk around the park with a GPS unit, then return to the centre and use data they've just collected to build maps and assemble data. The ratio of staff to students is a hint under 1:10, but you'd never know it. The facilities are excellent... the cabins are really more like hotel rooms, and all buildings are climate-controlled. Earning a high school credit is the icing on the cake.
