I attended The Woods from '76 to'85 as a camper, then volunteered as a counselor and now I return nearly every year for the Women's Retreat weekend. What a wonderful, spirit-filled, loving, nurturing, fun, Christian, exciting, challenging place. I can't say enough good things about my memories of The Woods or the friends I made there. They have maintained a wholesome and valuable camp experience in these modern times that allows kids to experience the granduer and love of God. They also provide outstanding traditional camp activities such as campfire songs, hikes, nature lessons and a modern ropes course to keeps kids interested-something for everyone. The Woods has my highest recommendation; I sent my own son there so I could enjoy it again vicariously through him.

i have been going to the westminster for 13 years and it gets better every year. can't wait till next year!

This is a wonderful camp for young kids, but as you approach high school age, the religious focus gets more and more intense....my last experience there i walked away feeling indoctrinated; locking kids in a room, crouched on the floor chanting in an incense filled room around a cross covered in candles chanting before being allowed to eat in the morning does not seem healthy to me. I gave all 'good' rankings because individually, the staff are wonderful, the facilities clean, activities great, etc etc etc...except for the heavy-handed cult-like atmosphere. I went there every summer for six or seven years, but the last experience frightened me so badly, i refused to return. Maybe you're into that kind of thing, i don't know, but if you're going to shell out the money, you deserve to know the facts.
