I worked here for most of my twenties and it is my home away from home. The people here are my family now and I'm so thankful I took the leap to work here! I didn't know anyone my first summer and I'm so glad I took on the challenge. The directors care about the staff and the kids are hilarious. The days can feel long, just like any camp job I'm sure, but the the incredible memories I'll hold dear to my heart!

I have spent many summers at Camp Wayne for Girls and it's my home away from home. It's definitely a hard job, the schedule is no joke! You are working with and around kids ALL DAY but it's also so rewarding. I have met some of the most amazing people (both kids and staff).

IF YOU'RE NOT WHITE, YOU'RE THE HELP
It took me a day or two into camp to realize that every single person in the kitchen staff, was not white. Every single person in the nanny staff, was not white. They were all Hispanic.
If you are not a camper-counselor, they do not care about you. It is a 'legacy camp'. They want the same people they have known since 7 years old to come in and be counselors. I also had a kid tell me her family was 'normal' in response to my skin color.
A KID IS TRYING TO KILL THEMSELF? FIGURE IT OUT.
My biggest problem was how they handled extremely dangerous situations. I had a camper who was harming herself in front of other campers and when I went up to my Head Counselor, she said, and I quote, "I'm just a mom. I don't know what to do." and them looked like she was going to cry so I gave her a hug. I was a teenager. I should not have had to comfort an adult. And after that situation they treated me like I was wrong for 'telling' on the camper and trying

I went to camp here for 4 years, it was literally traumatizing. I felt so ostracized from the group because I wasn't developed early - everything becomes about boys by the time you're going into 7th grade. It really is not a good place for genuine girls. It's a place filled with spoiled, awful people

I absolutely love Wayne! I grew up going here and even returned for a year as a counselor. That being said I was not your tritonal camper. I never quite fit in with most of my age group and as a counselor I was not your typical 'peppy' person. That's just not me. I agree with some reviews that say that there is no discipline for the children and hey can pretty much do anything without consequence and the only people that suffer are the counselors trying to provide guidance but i also disagree with the reviews that say that camp doesn't value the counselors. I (nor any of my fellow counselors that i became close with) ever had an issue talking to the key staff about any issues we had. whether it was mentally or physically. early on into me being a counselor i injured myself and the staff immediately heled me figure out what i could do instead of my specialty. I made some of my best friends here and i would change my experiences for anything in the world!

I was a counselor here and the way I was treated genuinely made me not want to be alive. The staff show clear favoritism toward counselors who attended the camp as kids and treat the others expendably. We were placed in highly stressful situations which caused declining psychological health and breakdowns to occur, even daily for many of us. The staff put on a shallow facade of caring about this but never attempted to improve our situation. They were extremely patronizing and treated us like children. We were also treated as an inconvenience if we were injured or sick. The kids are given no consequences for their actions which leaves counselors vulnerable if kids dislike them. The children aren't at fault here but the staff do nothing to try and teach them good values, instead fostering an atmosphere of toxicity. I hope anyone who might work there has the chance to read this and rethink it carefully. It was an extremely traumatic experience for many of us and it might be for you, too.

I worked here. The attention given to staff wellness was deplorable. I understand prioritizing campers, but I saw my fellow staff members suffer multiple mental breakdowns and episodes, including myself. There's definitely no repercussions for campers who abuse counselors. They get a slap on the wrist while their counselors suffer and cry themselves to sleep. The kids are allowed to act however they please with no discipline. Counselors have no way of defending themselves. Don't get me wrong, these aren't bad kids. But this place is definitely not run with the staff mental health in mind. Many staff members felt the need to get blasted drunk on their nights off just to cope with the stress. Definitely would not work there again. They claim you can talk to them about any issues but I've found that to be patronizing. They don't really listen. I suffered great stress. They'd rather fire counselors than work with them and help them. I've seen such. They said they "left". Yikes.

ABSOLUTE BEST CAMP!!! The facilities here are beyond amazing and high tech. Bunks are the best I have seen. Love the fact they are huge and stunning inside and out. Everything about this camp is amazing. The food is fantastic and every meal is delicious. The staff are the absolute best and so are the directors. Everyone cares about you here and the people you meet are unlike any other. They will truly become your best friends for life. I would recommend this camp to anyone.

I was a counselor at Wayne. Here are my qualms: 1) When I was in the bunk, the kids would put on "naked shows" where they would strip naked and dance while the other kids shone flashlights and hollered inappropriate things. Not their fault, they're kids, but all of the former camp counselors laughed at and encouraged this behavior. 2)8-9 year olds had (and therefore encouraged other less "knowledgeable" girls to have)graphic conversations about ****s, which were similarly encouraged by the counselors. I believe kids can't be blamed for these exploratory behaviors, but the failure of adults to provide moral guidance was shocking. 3)My biggest problem was sexism. Only men are hired for traditionally "masculine" director roles,&I know of specific instances where less qualified men were given jobs over more qualified women. Camp Wayne did an absolutely terrible job of empowering young girls. Sexism by staff members (i.e. a hot list ranking new counselors' appearances) was dismissed.

I've only gone one year and it is the best place in the world! The counselors are so nice and the activities at night time are so fun. Color war is awesome! My friends are so nice and fun to be with.

I had heard good things, but I think there were some kids that were very superficial. More so than I expected even at that age. My daughter's bunkmate seemed to be ostracized, because she didn't have the right clothes or bedspread and other inane stuff. I am not sure if we will return next year.

Camp Wayne has changed my daughter's life. She is going on her 6th summer at camp and every year it seems to get better and better. The girls she has become friends with are almost like sisters and though they don't all live in the same area - they keep in touch and will be friends for life. Camp teaches you how to be independent and make smart choices and how your decisions affect others without having your parents over your shoulder the whole time. Camp Wayne is the perfect place for girls to learn how to grow up into strong, independent and caring young women.

Camp Wayne is my favorite place in the world! So far i have spent 2 summers there and I cant wait to return for my 3rd next year. Everyone at camp is so down to earth and honest. all the staff are very nice and dont get frustrated with you when you mess something up. We have an amazing art program, and color war is awesome! Anyone who has 1 bad thing to say about cwg is CRAZY!

As a camper I have went to wayne for 7 years. These past 7 summers gave me the experience of a lifetime! I have made the best camp friends and made the bonds with staff that will last forever! Camp Wayne has the most caring and loving staff that are so friendly. Our facilities are beautiful and amazing. Our campus is not to big or small. We have a beautiful lake which we share with boyside. Our activities are always fun! We have lots of activities and you get to try everything in camp. We have a hobby hour everyday to go to your favorite activities and get more time to learn and get better. The staff understands everybody and cares for everybody. You can go to anyone and they would be happy to solve your problem or just talk. Camp has held one of the most important things in my childhood and I am so glad that I am part of Camp Wayne.

I am going on to my 8th year at camp. The day i came to camp to tour i knew for sure this was the place i wanted to go. Not to small not to big. Groups of people came up to me throughout the day and made me feel so welcome. The Next year I went to Wayne. I wouldn't ever trade in any of my summers for the ones I've experienced at Wayne. The Bonds I've made are inseparable. I'm proud to say I have 33 sisters and 33 best friends at Wayne. The staff really cares about you. Every Friday is creative service, as an evening activity, all built around friendship and life skills that will help you find your way with people. These skills will also help you outside of camp.My Mom has suggested i go on a teentour for a couple summers and take a break from Wayne, but I know that I want to stay till i become a councilor. Each year just gets better and better. I think anyone who has toured the camp would be crazy not to send their kids there. When I come to camp every summer i always feel at home<3

worst experience of my life, the girls were mean the counsler was terrible and i hurt myself by accident and NO ONE BELIEVED ME! the counselors didn't care when we got into fights and everything was blamed on me. the art area was nice but that was about the only good thing about it. i spent 1 summer here and i will never let anyone i know go here ever again.

This summer I am starting Camp Wayne for Girls. The staff are incredible and they have the best lake. There are rock-climbing walls and obstacle courses and other fun things. Their camp outfitter is the camp spot, (when you sign up you get a catalog in the mail, CAMP WAYNE ROX!!!! :-)

I also go to this camp and i can honestly say that it is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me. ive been going for 8 years and i love it so much. for anyone that rated any of these less than 5's that's a complete lie. I have never met so many incredible people in my life. the friends you make here are your friends for life. i speak to these girls every day and whenever i dont im thinking about them and wayne. this is the place where you truly find yourself and you can be open with everyone and just be yourself. you dont have to put on an act for anyone because theyre all so understanding and accepting. i've loved my summers at wayne and wouldnt trade them for anything.

okay, for anyone who something bad about this camp is absolutly insane. Ive gone for 8 years and it is my life. There is nowhere else in the world i'd ever be. It is by far the most amazing place in the entire world. Ive only been home for 2 months, and already i want to go back. Camp Wayne will be my second home forever and ever. :)

Although the owners are very experienced, the counselors, who they spend an incredible amount of time interviewing, are not equipped to handle bunk issues. These issues escalate to owners, despite all the time they spend to recruit. The camp is completely rigid about changing groupings of girls. They recognize that they can't predict personalities when they assign new campers to bunks, but won't change them for the following year when the personalities don't mesh. As a result, girls get stuck and their only recourse is to not return to the camp.

this camp helps me when im having a problem with a friend and doesn't let one go by. it can be a little freaky how much love is in the camp. but other than that i absolutly love it. i can have my days but my bunk cheers me up right away. i wish i could live there forever.

Camp Wayne is the most amazing camp in the world. We have been going there for 6/7 years. The bonds that we have with our friends will last forever. We visit eachother durring the winter.
