Click to report rating    6/30/10   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has been going to Raintree for 4 years. Their horsemanship program involves riding as well as learning about the horse and how to care for the horse. It allows children to advance at their own pace. The other activites are numerous and varied. My daughter can hardly wait for summer and the YMCA camp Raintree. RID: 33204

Click to report rating    4/23/08   2     1     1     1     1   No real trainer, staff gave mixed messages for mounting style, horses were worn out, riding was boring (walk, trot, nose-to-tail trail riding), tack was falling apart, youth not put in groups via skill, arenas were tiny, no set horse for the duration of the stay (you switch horses every time you ride), short amount of riding time, and my biggest complaint... the helmets were broken and the saddles were cracked!!!! I will never go back, if you want a good horse camp go to Triangle Y in Arizona RID: 22549

Click to report rating    1/10/08   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter was a first time camper last summer and has begged to go back ever since she came home. She is looking forward to returning this summer. THANK YOU RAINTREE STAFF!! RID: 18821
Click to report rating    12/10/07   2     3     2     2     3   I did not like the fact that there were to many kids and horses in the area durning the show for that size of the arena. there was no so called trainer inside the arena while they in there. there kids on horses that were scared and the horse knew this, and took off with child making the other horses scatter. Im the one that had to tell my daughter to get contol of her horse, sit back, heals down, ect, get your dime from the other horse, the other kids started listen to me, that wasnt my job! Had there been a so called trainer doing this inside the arean the children wouldnt have been so scared. RID: 17842

Best staff i've seen in years! Strongly recommend sending your kids to horseback riding camp. They will definately have a truly rewarding and lifechanging experience!! Check them out! RID: 12851
Click to report rating    6/18/07   5     5     4     5     5   Being apart of the RT family for 2 years was the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life. On the staff end, we're taught everything from first aid to comforting a homesick camper. The programs are well thought of and LOVED by the kids that come, sometimes year after year. It's a small camp, but don't let that fool you! There is plenty for the kids to do for the week of thier stay. RT focuses on building self confidence and respect for each other, the horses and yourself. When my child is grown she will be attending this camp and sharing the same amazing experience as the thousands of other kids have done before her. RID: 12165
Click to report rating    6/18/07   5     4     5     5     4   I love Raintree. It's so much fun and I can be myself without the usual middle school peer pressure. I have made a lot of friends, many I still have contact with. This will be my 4th year, 6th week, at Raintree this July. I will be working on my Wrangler bolo. In August I hope to work on my Raintree Rancher bolo. The staff is always very helpful and teaches you all you need to know for your next bolo. I'm always nervous for the test, but it makes me feel proud when I get my next level bolo. My goal is to become a leader myself one day, but I'll have to wait 2 more years for that. My parents love the online features. They send me bunkmail so I know what's going on at home, and they can check out camp pictures online so they know what's going on at camp. if you love horses, are not afraid to get dirty and like to learn while having fun, Raintree is THE place to be! Love you guys! RID: 12164
Click to report rating    6/7/07   5     5     2     3     4   when i was last there i loved everything about it except that you had to ride head-to-tail and there wasn't to much riding. i would have liked to ride more.also i don't like how you have to do a certain amount of things to achieve a certain level to do different things. I am capable of alot of things but since i can't name all the horses i probably can't be that level. and not most people know off the top of their head how to take apart a bridal and put it back together. sure if you want to be a rancher than that information is useful and i want to be able to be at the rank of the Trail master but i'd have to name everything to get to that point and i can't do that. i think that they should base your level on how you ride and not on how many parts of a horse you can name. i can ride in any gait but i can't name 30 parts of a horse. maybe if i went to the camp every summer and wrote everything down i wouldn't remember except the easy ones and i think again they should base it off experi RID: 11669
Click to report rating    6/5/07   5     5     5     5     5   This small camp environment creates an intimate setting for campers to learn and grow without feeling lost in the crowd. It has many great programs from horsmanship to raggers that focus on personal growth through education and self awareness. This camp is the type of camp that you can see yourself spending your whole life at. From a small child experiencing your first week at sleep away camp; to a young teenager wanting to learn more about horses; then to a highschool-aged kid learing about how to lead of others; to a full "y-staffer" adult anxious to share with the new generation of camp kids what having a good time at camp really means. Speaking from someone who has gone through this entire program at Raintree Ranch, I can say this is a camp that your child will never forget! RID: 11573
