I remember going to talcott from like 2003 until 2008 and i had the pleasure of being in the cit program my last there. I remember me, Edwin, and JD were in that program together and its amazing how theyre still working there now. The best memories i have of my summers were because of camp. I remember i made alot of lasting friends at camp that i still hung out with after it was over. I miss every second of it and i do plan on going back and being a counselor there. ERIC LINARES CIT 2008!!

Talcott was the best. I made it a point to go every year... I loved the staff the my peers... I had soo much fun.Wish it was all year around... Miss the good times like camping in the woods and dance socials... Miss my friends and cool staff members even doe i still keep in touch with some... Talcott was the only way i could see my sister. Every year i would get there before her just to see her smiling face when she got off the bus... I could not swim and my cabin counselors made it they point to get me to a yellow swimmer... by the end of that summer i was a yellow swimmer... I now have my little one so when he gets older camp Mc Alister for him and Talcott for me as a counselor... Miss Camp Talcott... Margarita

I love Camp Talcott ! Its my 10th year and last . I plan on becominq a C I T then counselor . This is a amazinq experience for anyone and the memories last forever. Meetinq people from all over the world and also counselors. They really know how to deal with the behaviors and other issues. Youh can really meet different ppl from all over the world and become the best of friends. Activities at camp are juss what anyone would love to do for summer vacation. At camp Talcott independence plays a huqe part its like qoinq away to colleqe minus the school work and the teachers. At camp we do many activities such as social ndd other fun stuff. I will definitely recommend for parents to send they're kids to this camp its juss as cool as it sounds. I love camp Talcott ! So send your kids to camp 2day and let them braq away. Camp Talcott deserves to be a 5 star camp ! Dontchu think ? Cause I DO ! XoXo Destinyyyy

This camp made my summer the best summer of my life! I made tons of friends and it was very interesting to have counselours from all over the world becase you were able to learn about different cultures. This was my first year and I'm planning on going back for as many years as I can! I even want to be a CIT and then a counselour. It was a lot better and funner than the camp I went to last year. This camp had so many activities to choose from. I loved this camp and I'm DEFINATLY going back. I'm also gonna try the winter camp. I hope that it's as good as the summer camp!

i was probably if not one of the most awesome counselors in the staff of 07 i cant really say how much this camp has given me being a former camper gave me a greater insight of how a counselor can shape a young persons life its like its a total mind blow to see how quick the kids take to their counselors. well i can really just remember my times at camp and how much i loved all of the staff but most especially my counselor and now that there are two counselors per- cabin i think that lightens up the work load immensely and i as the only last standing male American staff of 07 would really just like to say i CANT WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR BUDDIES --MARINO CAMP TALCOTT COUNSELOR OF 07 THE GREATEST YEAR SO FAR

My son cant stop wearing his Talcott sweatshirt. He loved the place and cant stop raving about the director Mike Peters. He loved all the counselors and all the activities. The bathrooms werent always the cleanest but I have seen much worse at other camps. I recommend Camp Talcott because it was a superb experience for my son.

My son has gone to other sleep away camps but he enjoyed Talcott the most. I have to agree as far as the toilets and bathrooms my son said that they were filthy and that there were plumbing problems. Other than that he loved the staff and especially the activities. He said that this camp has more activities than the prior sleep away camps that he has gone to in the past. I like the camp because the counselors pushed morals.

My daughter attended Camp McAlister and Talcott this summer for the first time. Sye had already attended another camp for two weeks and was home for 2 days before she was back off again. She absolutely loved it. When I went to visit her on Family day, although she had to stay another week after I left, I didn't get the "I want to go home, please don't leave me here." Although she did say it, I didn't have a hard time convincing her to stay the extra week. I will send her again.

MY DAUGHTER HAVE SPENT TIME AT THE YMCA FOR THE PAST 6 SUMMERS AND 2 HOLIDAY CAMPS. SHE IS 15 NOW AND WISHES TO DO THE C.I.T NEXT SUMMER. SHE LOVE THIS CAMP BUT THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IS THAT THE C.I.T PROGRAM FOR NORMAL WORKING PEOPLE IS A BIT MUCH BUT WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR TEENAGE CHILD PREFER TO BE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT INSTEAD OF HANGING AROUND WITH HER FRIENDS DOING NOTHING. EXACTLY! YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR THEM BECAUSE IT'S THE BEST DECISION. WELL ANYWAY THAT'S JUST A SMALL PROBLEM. THE OTHER IS THAT I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE SOME OTHER WAY TO GET THE LUGGAGE UP TO THE CABINS BECAUSE IF YOU ARE STAYING FOR A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF TIME THEN YOU WILL HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF LUGGAGE. I HAVE HAD A FEW PIECES OF LUGGAGE DISTROYED BUT ALL IN ALL THIS CAMP IS WONDERFUL AND I RATHER HAVE MY CHILD SPEND HER WHOLE SUMMBER AT CAMP TALCOT BECAUSE I WAKE UP WITHOUT WORRY AND I GO TO BE WITHOUT WORRY.

My son has been going to Camp McCallister for three years. This upcoming summer he will be attending Camp Talcott. I have always had positive feed back from Steven. He loves going to both summer and winter camps. His counselors have always written to me and kept me informed of his progress. I would recommend this camp 100%.

My son had attended Greenkills and loved every minute he was there. I sadden to find out this year that you closed it down. However, this year was the first time my daughter went to Talcott and She had the greatest time. She went only for one week and she expressed that next year she would like to go longer. The counselors were very nice and sent me a letter informing me of my childs time at the camp which I felt was very helpful.

My 9 year-old had a good experience for his first time at camp, and especially liked his counselors. However, he did not make many friends and felt there were not enough activities. He also hated the bugs! He would like to try another camp. My older son had his second experience at YMCA and did not like it very much. Neither did he like the kids or the activities. He is much happier after his experience elsewhere.

This was my daughter's 2nd year at the camp and she just loved it. Next year I will send her for 3 or 4 weeks. The overall experience was a good one for her. I find YMCA Camping Services to be a warm, nurturing, safe environment for my daughter and I would recommend this camp to friends, relatives and assosiates.

This was my dasughter;s first time ever at camp and she really enjoyed her 2wk stay. I was very pleased with the office staff they were very helpful and went above and beyond to accomodate my needs during a last minute crisis. I really feel that her experience this summer has made her much more appreciative of many of the things that she may have taken for granted. Thanks Talcott she will be returning

My son had a wonderful week there this summer and will most definitely return there next summer for 2-3 weeks. The only he did complain about were the restrooms and the amount of bugs that were very evident in the shower stalls and restrooms. He loved the staff and activities. So THANK YOU for giving him a wonderful memory.

My daughters have been going to these camps for the last three year. The first two were great the last was horrible for my young daughter. 1st there were a set of twin girls that were bullies. My daughter informed the counselor about an incident and the counselor responded negatively with, "Stop Being A Cry Baby." It was so bad that she informed the counselor to give us a call because she wanted to be picked and the counselor never responded to her wish. Secondly, my daughter fell down a scraped her knee very badly. She informed the counselor about it and the counselor did not take her to the nurse. This, we feel, is unacceptable because the wound should have been cleaned and treated. I can't understand how the counselor could have been so insensitive to these two incidents. May daughter also informed us that the bathrooms were discusting. She has decided not to go to this camp again. It must have been a bad year for this camp since this had not happend in the premvious year.

This was my daughters first year at Talcott and she enjoyed it. She's attended other sleepaway camps before and Talcott is the one she is looking forward to returning to next year. She's made some good friends and they have managed to stay in touch since camp. Overall the staff was friendly, facilities were fine and the activities appeared to keep her busy through the day. We look forward to signing up next yr.

This was my daughter's first experince with sleep away camp. The activities she particpated in where wonderful and she had nothing but good things to say about the activities. There were however a few down sides to her experience. She informed me that one of her counselors was very mean to her. She also said there was one night she was not feeling well and requested to see the nurse however this particular counselor said no. Luckily the other counselor was sympathetic and allowed her to go. This could be very dangerous and a possible liability to the camp. Had my daughter been seriously ill, this counselor would be responsible for denying her medical attention. The other issue is that my daughter informed me that only one stall in the girls' bathroom worked, the others were clogged with ****. This is absolutely unacceptable which is why I gave a low facilities score. My daughter does not wish to return next summer specifically because of this one counselor.

My daughter has been camper at Greenkill and Talcott for the past 5 years and loves it. The staff is wonderful and has become our extended family. My daughter has also made friends for life from this experience. This experience has helped her grow into the wonderful person she is today. She plans to attend next year and wants to become a counselor in training.

The staff members were all lovely. My daughter attended the only week of the summer when the weather was bad, and no one can control the weather, of course! But she was disappointed that she did not get to participate in the activities she signed up for because others beat her to the sign-ups. It seems this could have been handled more fairly -- especially since the activity offerings and frequency were so severely limited by the weather -- so that everyone had a chance to participate at least once. The bathrooms were atrocious. Filthy. And according to my daughter, very few of the toilets were functioning. We found this to be the case on pick-up day.

well i have been going to camp mcalister and talcott for a while. I started when i was 6 yrs old. went to camp until I was 18 as a counselore then a counselor for 4 yrs. I think this camp is very good for chiuldren going to camp for the first time. I always was there for the whole summer. The camp has had a bad time the past few yrs though. # yrs ago they almost lost their accredition and they had to fire counselors on more than one occiasion. I think it is becuase they have been hiring younger counselors. The director John Nystrom is very y much the big bear type. I was there as a counselor and camper before he became a director. He has his finger on most of the things there. I would recommend this camp for all children to go to espially the firs yr children and make sure you can put up with the rustic cabins and the bear sightings. It is a real fun experience.

I have attended Camp Talcott for the past 5 years, and for 2 years before that I attended the younger camp, Camp McAlister. Every year at the two camps was just great, and I rarely found myself to be bored, or with nothing to do. I have kept in touch with countless camp friends, and I can't wait to attend this year as a Junior Counselor. The counselors at the camp come from all corners of the world, and all of them are very friendly and very good with kids.
