While my daughter was impressed with the staff and personal attention she received, she was unimpressed by their facilities, as were we. A public road runs right down the middle of the camp and although there is minimal traffic, campers must cross the road to go to the archery range and climbing tower. As a parent, the ease of accessibility for outsiders is also a concern. Although Pepin's waterfront is beautiful, their access to it is limited due to the current on the river. While the swim area is safe, it's not deep enough for diving or challenging a child to improve their swimming ability. The ambience of a campfire ring taking the form of an old truck rim leaves something to be desired as well. Physically, this is a small camp, which is bordered (very closely) by the outside world. The staff tries their best to compensate for their physical limitations, but there is only so much they can do.

Most amazing experience of my life. I cry just thinking about it. Im so happy that it happened but sad that its over.

Both my 3rd grader & 8th grader went to YMCA Red Wing/Camp Pepin this summer and they loved it! We have tried several camps in the past but never stuck with one. We will return to Camp Pepin every summer from now on. The counselors are well-trained and handled little issues in a good manner to prevent them from becoming big issues. As a parent, I was very impressed!

Welcoming staff, nicely-maintained facilities, new activities every year, beautiful location on Lake Pepin - all well-worth the money. My daughter couldn't stop talking about it and wants to be a counselor there someday. She even took brochures with her to school to give to friends.
