My son loves this camp! He goes for two weeks and has a blast. The counselors are terrific, he loves the food by Ms. Becky and the area is gorgeous. It's a boy's dream summer camp!

The staff at this camp is really nice, and it's in a really nice location. The only complaints we had were regarding the showers, which are communal, and the food (but that may be just picky kids!). Also the boys are girls are very segregated to the point that even siblings cannot have contact, which seemed unusual but maybe that's how other co-ed camps are.

The Camp Song says it best; The Rio Vista Spirit is the Best, We'll put it up against the hardest test, We know it's better than the very best, We're always striving for the tip top of the crest, And we play the games upon the square, We show our sportsmanship by being fair, And though the campers are the spirit there, We're always All-For-All! HEY! 8 year camper and 5 year counselor who simply loves this place. While it may not have the "it" factor of rival boy camps up the river, it is a magical place lost in time. I dream about learning teamwork in the Green Machine War Canoe, learning tribe songs and chants on Golden Arrow Hill, the pure joy of counselor hunt, and goofing off on the low water crossing. Do yourself a favor, send your son here.

My son (12) has attended Rio Vista (all the campers simply say RV) for four summers now. The Staff is amazing! My son loves the activities! We spend all year preparing for his term! Our first year was tough, my son had some issues with wetting the bed. We were extremely worried about how this would be handled. James, the Director, promised us he PERSONALLY would make sure that our son was taken care of. When an accident happened, James went and changed the sheets. His willingness to make our sons experience successful is heart warming! We love Rio Vista, the Hawkins Family (The Owners), and James Mostek! There is no better place to send your son!!!!

This is my son's 1st year at camp and his 1st time away. Needless to say we had a difficult departure. I can't begin to tell you 1st how wonderful all the other campers were. Then I had the director call me this morning to let me know how he is doing. (very well). That he has taken the extra time to visit with him to make sure he knows he will be ok means so much. I am so very happy that my son is starting his camp journey at such an amazing place. Not to mention the beautiful grounds and all the activities.

Great camp, beautiful facilities, excellent programs. Love the traditions and history behind the camp. My boys look forward to camp all year and can't wait to go back. Smaller camp with wonderful personal attention. Compared to other private camps in Texas, a very good value and definitely worth every penny. Another nice thing is that everything is included in the price and you don't have to pay extra for certain activities, snacks, laundry and things like that. Highly recommend.
