Click to report rating    3/24/19   5     5     5     5     5   Our three children have loved their summers at DMDC. They are excited each morning for the multitude of adventures that await them at camp. From the moment that they arrive at DMDC, they are welcomed into fun activities ranging from archery to Legoland to nature to tennis. They have all greatly improved their swimming abilities in a safe, loving environment. The Camp Directors Carol and Roberta are incredibly involved and motivated to provide all the campers with a wonderful camp experience. The counselors are trustworthy and caring. Our older children particularly enjoy the ability to tailor their schedule to the activities that intrigue them. Our children have all formed lasting friendships with other campers. They also love the beautiful facilities and the delicious meals. We are so thrilled that our children are so happy each summer to be campers at DMDC! RID: 52532

8/9/13   5     5     5     5     5   I highly recommend Deer Mountain Day Camp. The camp truly is a family and when you are at camp it feels like home. The staff develops such a close relationship with each and every camper, and by the end of the summer no one wants to go home. Sending your child to DMDC will be one of the best possible decisions you can ever make. They will make new friends, learn new skills, and find their summer home. Carol and Roberta are wonderful people. As they walk around the camp daily, it shows how much they really care about all the children and staff members. Their goal is to make the children have the most memorable summer possible, and they sure do succeed at it! I highly recommend this camp. RID: 45587

7/31/13   5     5     5     5     5   SUPERB camp with attention to the little details. The owners are very attentive and sensitive to what parents have to say, and make the safety/well-being of the kids their priority. When my daughter started camp she was only 3 and she cried but Carol found her a 'shadow' counselor for one-on-one support. My kids have had really wonderful times here. Also, am confused by some comments below about non-returning staff; these are false allegations. Many of the division leaders/nursery staff have been there for about 7, 8 years or more. RID: 45459

7/23/13   1     1     1     1     1   We were loyal to Deer Mountain for years. Our child loved the camp and we referred nearly half a dozen families. Most recently, our teenager was hired at the camp as a specialty counselor. Turns out that the "beloved" owners, Carol and Roberta, were no longer so nice and mistreated the staff. They berated the staff daily despite being devoted and toughing it out during consecutive heatwaves. I wouldn't want to have my young child in the care of staff who are so sorely mistreated. Nor would I wish to patronize a camp with high fees run by such owners. It is a shame that it has all gone downhill along with the facilities. Also the owners take great pride in trying to save as much money as possible, ergo they pay the staff half of minimum wage. Do not support this camp, it seems like none of the staff and sometimes some of the kids do not want to be there. This is a very unhealthy work environment. RID: 45315
Click to report rating    7/15/13   3     2     2     2     1   This place is NOT worth the money. It might be okay if you're from ages 4-9, but otherwise, it's boring. The activities are limited and you have to do EVERYTHING that's on the schedule, no matter what. The lake is puny, and the only places to swim are tiny pools that are REALLY crowded. The first year I went, the lineup field was FILLED with people. The last, there was almost nobody, so over the years it has definitely gotten much worse. I recommend you don't go to this camp.  7/8/13   5     5     5     5     5   My daughters just love Deer Mountain! When we first toured the grounds and spoke to the owners, Roberta and Carol Katz, we knew we wanted our daughters to attend. They really care about camper safety, and their emotional well-being. There are so many activities that the girls are always doing new and interesting things. And they love the food -- as a parent, I'm glad they offer fresh fruit and salad as well as treats. The owners really hire staff with great credentials, and the division leaders and counselors really care about the campers. My daughters can't wait for the weekend to be over so they can return to camp. They are having experiences they will remember all their lives, in a gorgeous setting with great programming! RID: 45067

Click to report rating    9/2/12   5     3     3     4     1   MY counselors were amazing when i went here a few years ago. but i hear that they treat them like slaves. there is a variety of old rundown activities. i keep in touch with few of the other campers since they weren't my type of people(they were kinda rude). my Division leaders were amazing always taking they item to talk to me with any issues. however the owners are terrible and have no idea how to run the camp... it was just given to them from their parents. overall don't waste your time or money here. Click to report rating    8/6/12   5     5     5     5     4   I have sent both my kids to this wonderful camp for 2 years now, and they love every single day of being there. The activities are varied (sports, exceptional swim program, archery, cooking, arts & crafts, legoland, etc.)and the food is as excellent as it could be while still appealing to kids (organic when possible, whole wheat breads/pastas, etc.) . It's obvious the negative prior comments were written by disgruntled former employees, but most of the staff returns every single year (& most of them are Ivy League-educated). We get 2 progress reports every week (for swim & regular camp)so we know what's going on. They have several weekend activies throughout the summer & school year to keep everyone connected. They are very generous with their merchandise (free back packs, t-shirts, sweatshirts). I have absolutely nothing negative to say; every single person that works there cannot be any nicer than they already are. I'm more sad than my kids when summer is over. RID: 42247
Click to report rating    8/1/12   5     3     2     2     2   As a counselor at this camp, I was not very impressed with what I saw. It's a nice-looking camp, but some of the activities there and the way the kids responded makes me question how much the owners know about what the kids want. Also, the staff was treated terribly. Many people actually quit halfway through the 2012 session! I wouldn't recommend going here. RID: 42189
Click to report rating    7/8/12   4     2     2     2     2   The camps owners are really out of touch with their camper's wants and needs...and as a result the numbers have been dwindling with each summer. Staff are treated very poorly and there is no appreciation for them whatsoever. Activities are great for younger kids but for those 10-13 there is not much to keep them entertained. RID: 41606
5/21/12   5     2     1     1     1   This camp needs an overhall, in both facilies and leadership. The staff is great but the owners are cheap and out of touch with what kids like and don't like. Most of the staff from last year are not returning which speaks volumes. RID: 41099
2/22/12   5     2     2     1     1   what was once a great camp, now being buried by greedy owners. they put on a good show, but it's their under paid and over worked staff that run the place. without them you have a crumbling facility, a heavily polluted lake/pond and very dated activities, and for the amount they charge you expect a LOT more. it will certainly be interesting to see how summer 2012 pans out as a little birdy informs me that they've lost ALL there returning staff...... Click to report rating    1/27/12   5     5     5     5     5   Deer Mt is such an amazing camp! We have been so thrilled with our son's experiences year after year. He has made great friends and been introduced to new and exciting activities. Everyone is so friendly and I love the extra effort they make at keeping the parents informed about whats going on at camp and how your child is doing. The grounds are beautiful too! A must see! Click to report rating    3/31/11   5     5     5     5     5   This will be my sons 5th summer at Deer Mountain. From the start in the nursery until now it has been amazing. He particularly loves all the water activities. They have really taught him how to swim. He also loves having choices in activities. That's a really big deal for us. The staff is warm and truly caring. Can't wait for this season to start!! RID: 35506
Click to report rating    8/13/10   5     5     5     5     5   I did much research since this was my first experience with day camps and a first for my 6 yr. old son. My research paid off overwhelmingly!! What I love so much is the variety of activities. In one day he will have swimming, boating, photography, tennis, cooking, archery and softball. Love that it's not just all sports. The staff are very attentive and knowledgeable. Instead of all the accolades, I will end by saying my son will be there for MANY years to come! Thank you so much for calming down this Italian mothers nerves!! RID: 33720
Click to report rating    7/12/10   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper there for YEARS. This place was THE best. Kept very clean, everything was in good condition. The staff was great. If there was an activity you really did not want to do, they would do their best to accommodate you. Bowling trips, amusement parks, entertainers, celebrity guests. It was awesome! There were SO many activities. Sports, fishing, zip line, cooking, arcade, drama, archery, mini golf, basket ball, magic, arts and crafts, nature and TONS more. A resort compared to other camps I had been too. RID: 33306
Click to report rating    7/7/10   1     5     5     1     2   The owners seem caring until you really need them to be. They want to ease their way out of helping when your child isn't perfect....even when you have been upfront with them on any issues they may have. Roberta may like kids a little, but she likes $$$$ much more. RID: 33260
Click to report rating    4/16/10   3     2     2     4     2   The camp has gone down hill, the owners are grumpy and nasty, and there is not much to do if you are over 8 years old. RID: 32601
Click to report rating    2/6/10   1     1     1     1     1   DON'T GO HERE! THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE! You can get a lot better for you money everything about this place sucked and it ruined my summer! Do not go here! RID: 32098
Click to report rating    2/6/10   3     2     1     1     1   I was forced to go to this camp for the past 4 years of my life AND I HATE IT! its terrible my mum luvs it but everyone else in my familly hates it dont go there last year i begged my mum not to go and i didnt. The food sucks and everything about is terrible the quality and i wish it would b allot better! RID: 32096
Click to report rating    8/3/09   5     2     2     4     2   worked here for a few summers. The staff is great besides the owners who were the main factor in my not returning. You could be getting a lot more for your money sending your kids to a different camp especially if they are over 7. RID: 30621
Click to report rating    4/26/09   5     4     4     5     5   This camp is amazing ive been going for like 8 years and so what if no one is coming back that doesnt mean anything! This camp is amazing and its a lot of fun and they do have an upper kids program you just dont know about it cause you dont like it and have you ever heard of trippers? that take trips everyday almost?!?!??! Its a lot fun and dont believe anything mean! RID: 29589
Click to report rating    3/13/09   4     3     3     3     3   My kids went there for many years, but it is now time to pull them out. The nursery is a great place, but once your kids are over the age of 8, forget about this camp. I heard that almost all the staff left this year, including the programming director! I think that says a lot. Roberta is a great salesman, but I don't think she knows anything about kids, since she doesn't have any. There is no upper camp program at all, and according to my son, the older kids tend to wander around with nothing to do. I think for the amount of money they charge, there are better camps out there. RID: 29269
Click to report rating    9/8/08   5     5     5     5     5   Fantastic place!!! Love everything about this camp. I cannot say enough about the staff they are all terrific. I know that Deermountain will be part of our family for years to come. RID: 26425
Click to report rating    5/13/08   2     2     4     3     2   this is my 9th summer at deer mountain and it is very babyish.I thought the facilities needed alot of work all of the girls yell at you alot.the counselors are really grumpy. if you get mad at them they yell at you as if u were getting punished thats why im going to CAMP TACONIC IN MA check out that camp its alot better.itd good for little kids from 3-10 try but you won't like it trust me! Roberta and carol very cranky owners they never take care of any problems last year i wanted to leave the camp because i was getting made fun of by the girls she wouldnt call my parents and tell them i told my parents myself and they yelled at roberta she needed it!! RID: 23127

Click to report rating    12/23/06   4     4     4     5     5   I went to Deer Mountain as a camper and now i work there and it truly lives up to its motto of your childs summer home. I come back each summer and have fun. Every year carol, roberta and jocelyn and now josh add to the program and make the camp a better place to be. there is never a dull moment there and though many of the programs r designed for the younger ones, the older campers are now feeling the effects with our amazing TOPS choices and trip choices. DMDC is still a fun place to be in the summer and I cant wait to come back this summer in '07 RID: 6250
