Click to report rating    1/25/19   5     5     5     5     5   I went to Camp Louemma many years ago. It was such a fun place to be. One of the trips there we started building a log cabin between the bunk I was in and the next one. I still remember a lot of the songs, swimming in the lake,(boy that was cold), hearing stories and just having fun. I loved doing all the sports and other activities. Everyday we had to write home, but there were times I didn't want to write so I sent my family a blank piece of paper in an envelope. They laughed and talked about that for many, many years. Two of my daughters also when there. I will always have some fabulous memories of Camp Louemma RID: 52434

6/27/17   5     5     5     5     5   Don't let the couple of bad reviews fool you, they are probably a case of sour grapes. This is a great camp. the directors / owners are former campers themselves who met at the camp. The camp has been around for quite a long time but the owners keep the place in top condition. Sure the head counselors are young, but they are also former campers themselves and that is what makes them such good leaders for the other counselors. My wife's kids from her first marriage all went there and loved the experience. we now have a son who is currently a camper and he is having the time of his life. Another good thing is that the kids are totally disconnected from all tech. No cell phones, no computers, no tablets, and no social media. They all get to learn all sorts of fun real life stuff and interact with a unique cross section of kids. Please go to the site and learn more about the camp and you will find it is a great place to send your kids. RID: 50894

8/11/15   5     5     5     5     5   My twelve year old son Daniel went to Camp Louemma this summer and he described it as "awesome and amazing." I heard all about the fantastic food, wide range of activities and sports, and supportive staff. The pool is new and the lake is perfect. I would not hesitate to recommend this camp, everyone from the owners to the counselors made this a worry free experience for both campers and parents. Thank you so much! RID: 49051

1/30/15   5     5     5     5     5   After reading the terrible review I read below, I felt it was necessary to write a little something on how great the camp actually is. My two kids do not stop talking about how amazing Camp Louemma is and how amazing all of the staff are. I also hear the two 18 year old program directors are absolutely amazing at what they do. In my opinion, I would rather two young adults that have grown up at the camp and know exactly how to make the kids laugh and smile rather than some random old guy that couldn't make a kid laugh if he payed the kids ( which Is what i noticed at the last camp I sent them). Camp Louemma's staff are extremely friendly, nice, and really passionate about providing "a summer of fun and a lifetime of memories" as they like to say. My kids have made some great friends at this camp and there is no other camp in the world I would rather them be at. RID: 48347

10/28/14   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Louemma is truly a wonderful camp. The directors are great. They treat each and every child in a very caring way, making them feel excited and comfortable about their camping experience. My 2 children have been campers at Louemma for several years. I just signed them up again for the summer of 2015. Since camp ended that's all my kids talk about. They love this camp and look at Louemma as family. The facities are beautiful and update. The staff is fantastic and truly care about the kids. Both my kids loved the food especially the cookouts. I have recommended this camp to several people and each child came home raving about Louemma. The camps slogan ls "A summer of fun.. A lifetime of memories" I can honestly state that my children have summers of fun and made life time friends and memories! RID: 48113

8/17/14   1     3     1     1     1   This camp is honestly not worth your money what so ever. Extremely curious where all the money is going when obviously it is not going to the camp. The campers barely get to eat, to the point where they are eating the same thing every single day. The only funding goes to evening activties that are pointless and ones that the campers do not even enjoy. The staff is horrible to their campers to the point where some bully them. There is alot of partying and misbehaver at night and it is rediculous since they should be taking care of our kids. They also hire kids not adults. Having two 18 year olds as programs directors is ridiculous. There is also an extreme bully problem within the camp as well that is never addressed. Save your money and save your kid from the torment. I can assure you that my son will not be attending again. RID: 47861

7/23/14   5     5     5     5     5   Excellent facilities, nice pool, nice basketball and tennis courts, beautiful lake, hiking on Appalachian trail, good food, archery, zip line, rock wall, arts & crafts, music, plays, sports....they have it all. Staff is great, not just ran by a group of teenagers, they also have plenty of mature qualified adults who typically work in the school systems in their normal jobs. Hal and Arlene, camp directors are awesome and passionate about their camp. They met each other at Camp Louemma as campers, and now one of their sons is married to a girl he met at the camp! It's a tight knit group that seems more like a big family than a camp. SO glad I sent my kids there, they love it and my son (11) is already talking about working there when he's old enough. Click to report rating    11/22/13   5     5     5     5     5   A great place. My son is going back for his third summer and my daughter is going for her first summer. Really caring staff and amazing facilities. Put in a fantastic new pool... RID: 46295
Click to report rating    3/25/12   5     5     5     5     4   This is going to be my third year going to louemma, and my first 2 summers were AMAZING. The staff are all caring, and they personally will deal with any personal problems a camper might have. And I mean ANYTHING. The facilities are very well kept, as the campers do the cleaning of there bunks every day, contrary to the person who posted 2 comments down from me. The activities are great, there's plenty to do and always time to do it, and certainly enough supplies & such. Personal attention, like I mentioned before, is perfect. Monetary value; of course it's a bit steep to attend the camp, but it's definitely worth it 100%. So, in other words; there is NO PLACE on this earth I'd rather spend summer with more than my family at Camp Louemma. :D -JP RID: 40615
Click to report rating    10/19/09   5     5     4     5     5   I couldn't disagree more with the last comment and can't really imagine that the writer went to the same camp last year that I did. Having worked at Camp Louemma, as well as other camps, I can honestly say that Camp Louemma has been the most incredible experience. The staff and supervisors I worked with were friendly, helpful and caring, and the kids are great. As for the food, while everyone has different tastes, I found it to be very good and the kitchen staff was very helpful in dealing with my food allergies. Just by walking around camp, you can see how well kept it is and as for activities, the camp may not have some activities like horseback riding or motorboats, but there is everything else and my campers loved it and always had plenty to do. I guess you cant please everyone, but for me I'm definitely going back next year as are my campers. We can't wait for summer '10 at Louemma. Peace RID: 31374
10/13/09   3     2     1     3     1   I'm sorry to say that Camp Louemma is not up to par with other camps. I'm perplexed as to where the money for the camp goes for the following reasons: Facilities are dirty and poorly kept: the first official cleaning happens when parents come for visiting day. The activities (the limited few that there are) are run by teens/young adults who are never given proper instruction as to how to plan for/facilitate said activities. The equipment was also terrible - there weren't enough sports balls to facilitate all activities at once. Most importantly, however, is the fact that the food was terrible - when there was enough. There were too many days when staples such as cereal and fruit were unavailable (though ironically, the head staff tables always seemed to have food, even when campers didn't). The redeeming quality is that much of the staff is caring, and that a lot of the counselors went there as kids. But I believe you'll find better activities, food, and probably staff at other camps. Click to report rating    6/19/09   5     4     4     5     4   My daughter went there 4 years and it was her home away from home. A great, small, Jewish sleepaway camp. Lots of adult staff which has been there for years which makes parents feel secure. Basic activities but lots of fun camp games like colorwar. Price jumped alot this year and time structure changed. Click to report rating    4/23/09   5     4     5     5     5   I went to Louemma for 9 summers and it changed my life forever. The people i met at camp have become my family and I could not imagine my life without having the experienced I had at Louemma. I love how everyone knows everyone and it's not one of those camps with air conditioning and butlers or whatever..i loved every minute of being there both as a camper and staff. I wouldn't trade anything for the memories I've made there. It truly is the greatest place in the world! RID: 29566

Click to report rating    12/12/08   5     5     5     5     5   I went to camp louemma for 8 of the most amazing summers of my life. First as a young camper all the way up to being a staff member. Although i havent been there in over 2 years, there is RARELY a day that i dont think about it, or talk to my lifelong friends. It may not have the facilities like other camps do, but it truly has a spirit and homey feeling that none of my friends have ever felt at other camps. From the spooky stories about camp's history, to color war, the most amazing experience of my life that i wouldnt trade for ANYTHING. If i could go back in time to one point of my life it would definately be one of the summers spent at camp louemma. "when i look back now, that summer seemed to last forever, and if i had the choice, yea id always wana be there, those were the BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE" RID: 27953
Click to report rating    8/1/08   5     4     4     5     5   This is my children's 3rd year. Every year they love it more. It does not have all the bells & whistles of other camps, but remember, it's camp! It has soul and spirit which is more important. Their religious program is very nice and keeps all grounded. The staff is wonderful & very attentive and responsive. RID: 25338

7/26/08   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is absolutely amazing. Every year I count down the days until I can return. I've been going to camp for 6 years as both a camper and a staff member. I can't imagine summer break without Louemma. RID: 25143

Click to report rating    10/2/07   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to Camp Louemma for 3 years and have had the best summers. Every year new activities are added and the staff is awesome!! At my previous camp I didn't feel accepted but here I have made sooooo many great friends. The bunks are really nice and new and I love the food. I can't wait to go back next summer! RID: 15773
Click to report rating    10/1/07   5     1     1     3     5   The program at this camp is terrible. Coming from other camps, it is easy to see why the enrollment keeps going down. The facilities are awful and if you are not into the whole religious thing...this is not the place for you. The activities are also poorly run and the admin staff are outdated. RID: 15727
Click to report rating    5/6/07   5     5     5     5     5   This summer will be my 6th summer going to Louemma. I have had sooo many wonderful years there - both as a camper, and staff member. My only regret is not starting earlier. A summer of fun... a lifetime of memories <3 RID: 10580
Click to report rating    2/9/07   5     5     5     5     5   Growing up in camp for the past 12 years, I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my summers. Camp has truly helped shape me into the person I am today. Being at Louemma is like being at my home away from home. I have met many of best friends at camp and could not have asked for a better camp experience. RID: 7679
Click to report rating    2/9/07   5     5     5     5     5   What can i say? I have gone to camp for 12 years now, both as a camper and now as a worker. I cant imagine summers not at Louemma. I have made lifelong freinds there, and have learned a lot about my self as well. I feel that camp has made me the person I am now. The kids are all friendly, the councelors are all nice and caring, and the whole staff is really dedicated to making the kids summers the best they can possibly be. I love camp and will continue to go there for as long as I possibly can. A Summer of Fun and a Lifetime of Memories... RID: 7661

Click to report rating    2/6/07   5     5     5     5     5   As a parent of three children that have grown up in Camp Louemma I can honestly say that my children could not have had a better experience anywhere. The staff is very attentive to each childs needs and the directors are caring, actively involved and very accessible. I have two children who are athletic and one that isn't yet they all found plently to do in this camp. What also impresses me is that for each of the 8 years my children have attended the camp has either added or updated their facilities. It truly is a second home for my kids and gives my husband and i piece of mind knowing they are there. RID: 7598
Click to report rating    2/2/07   3     2     3     4     3   Its okay... I went there for 4 years. The staff is very attentive, and they keep the Jewish perspective in order. Its a life lesson, but overall not such a great experience. RID: 7451
