I am a former camper and have sent my daughters here for the past few years. Recently the camp administration has been severaly lacking. There has been a great deal of staff turnover and a high rate of medical evacuations on trips. I am aware of a case where the camp nurse recommended a camper remain at camp rather than take a trip and the director overruled the nurse and the camper eventually had to be evacuated from the trip and returned to camp. Facilities have been let go and it appears the staff is not engaged and more concerned with personal relationship amongst themselves and not the campers. I'm a bit concerned, this used to be a great place to send my girls

I have been coming to arbutus for the last 8 years,it is the highlight of my summer every year. This past summer, I went to Alaska and had the best time! Everyone is so nice, loving, and accepting. Its a non-judging zone, and there is no place else in the world that I feel as happy as i do when i am at arbutus. I have made so many close friends, and i know that our bond will never break as friends or as a cabin. all of my counselors have been great, espeically the ones I had for Alaska. Overall I am so excited to be on staff for years to follow

I absolutely love Camp Arbutus. I has the best summers of my life there and made life-long friends. It is my second home! The counselors are WONDERFUL, as are all the activities and campers. Great for young and old campers alike.

My grand daughter is attending for her second year and last year when we came to pick her up she did not want to leave...she wanted to live there...this summer she is there for fout weeks and is expecting to love every moment of it...Not only is she meeting people from around the world, she is making new friends from around the world and several of them kept up with each other online during the year...she came back from camp last summer more grownup, more positive in hersels, self assurance. To see the changed in her was amazing...we hope she will continue to enjoy the camp and will want to attend a few more years.

This is a wonderful girls' camp. My 2 daughters have been at the camp for 6 years combined, and each year has been a great experience. All the basics (archery, canoeing, etc.) and great trips. Not to mention a lovely rustic setting. Great staff, well run. The only complaint is the food - but what kids do not complain about that?

My daughter has attended this camp for the last 6 years and loves it. Each year they go on a progressively more challenging trip starting when they are young with an overnight canoeing trip. In their final year, there is an opportunity to go hiking and kayaking in Alaska. This year, she spent 12 days hiking around Isle Royale in Lake Superior. We love that it is a single gender camp 40 miles away from the boys camp and there is no interaction whatsoever. It gives the girls a great opportunity to be themselves and not worry about impressing the boys. I disagree with the previous poster that said that you had to "poo in the woods." There are indoor showers and toilets. There is also a great website so check it out yourselves. We have found it a great value and our daughter is always eager to return.

Great camp, very dedicated staff & a good sense of community. Does awesome trips that get better with older age groups. Do not sign up unless you like a "rustic" environment.

I really didn't like this camp because pooing in the woods really isn't for me. At Arbutus, all the counselors are nature lovers... to a very great extent. Bue, if you like being dirty and stepping in horse poo, then this camp is for you. I hated it and I reccommend a camp with decent plumbing.
