I've got to be honest with you: I was pretty dissapointed with Idol Camp. The facilities were nice, except the dorm rooms were terrible. They were extremely filthy. The food was not very good but typical camp fare I suppose. The classes really weren't very good, I'm not going to lie. Honestly public school singing/choir classes are probably a lot better then the classes I took at Idol Camp. The acting class I took was better however. Now, on the plus side of things, they did have some cool performers. Don't let yourself be shocked when you get there that you aren't seeing Fantasia, Carrie, etc. Typically they are IDOL rejects who couldn't find any other job. However, JPL was great, and we had some pretty cool muscians come. Also, the director, Donna, was fantastic. The kids who went there were cliquey and mean with huge egos. Luckily, I was able to meet a (small) group of great kids i still talk to. Overall, it was a dissapointing camp and most certainly not worth the time and money.

I attended the first session of the camp this summer, and I must say I was dissapointed. The kids, I found, soon became clique-y, and many arrived with large egos. I came as an actress, and I did not get my first choice, which was an acting class, but the classes I did get, which were set-building and a script-writing class, were fabulous. But I discovered that, although the camp claims to cater to singing, acting, and dancing, it revolves around singing. The facilities were gorgeous, I will admit, but our dorms weren't. The girls had a boys' dorm, which didn't really matter except that there were less stalls in the bathroom. The rooms, for what my parents paid, were less than what I expected. They were small and contained three small cots, and were very dusty. The performers brought in were great, but I myself did not get much attention other than when I was in classes. If you're a singer, go for it, but I wouldn't attend if you're an actor or actress; it's not worth it for the money.

The first session of idol camp which has been created by the producers of American Idol was fantastic. My daughter had the time of her life. She befriended past idol contestants and was even pulled up on stage to perform with Ace Young. The school was a beautiful setting. The staff was fantastic. She made many friends. The staff was very attentive and very prompt with answering questions. It is a little expensive, however they need the funds to hire high level staff and showbiz insiders. I hope the camp continues and that many future campers are able to have as wonderful as an experience as my daughter.
