9/25/14   5     5     5     5     5   Our family has been coming to Kingsley Pines for 15 years. At least 7 cousins have come over the years for a unanimously amazing experience. Our two boys leave camp every year exclaiming that they want to come back again next year, but for the entire summer next year! While the entire summer is not an option the three weeks they spend are a whirlwind of fun with a smorgasbord of activities for them to choose from. They rotate activities every week and so they try things they might never experience anywhere else...fencing, yoga, Magic cards, to name a few... They are stretched in so many ways, campcraft makes them feel more at home in the wild, the diversity of the campers and staff makes them more at home in the world. The staff are universally supportive, kind and fun. Theme days make great photos which are shared. The camp recognizes kids for character development at campfire. What an amazing experience each year has been for our boys, and I imagine, for other kids as well. RID: 48017

1/9/14   5     5     5     5     5   My son and daughter have been going to Kingsley Pines for the past two summers and 2014 will be the third year. They LOVE it!! It has everything you could want, as a camper and a parent -- arts, sports, tons of waterfront activities, great camper to counselor ratio, 24 hour nurses, and everyone is certified and properly trained. Amazingly, the kids love the food! They have both confessed to being a little homesick at night, but since they are so tired, it doesn't last for long. ;-) I was impressed how the counselors really look after the campers and genuinely care for them. If you are looking for the ideal summer camp, this is it!!! RID: 46528
8/18/13   4     5     5     5     5   I'm going to be honest with you, before I came to camp for my 1st year as an older camper to KP, I got really nervous to say the least. I was worried about things like that I would have to sit alone for meals, that I would have no one to talk to, that the counselors would be mean to me and not care about my time at camp. That all the older campers would know each other and exclude me. After my first summer at KP it turns out that I was dead wrong about not just one but ALL of the things that I listed above. As soon as I got to camp I was welcomed by other campers not excluded, I found that most of the counselors were fantastic and did everything in there power to make my camp experience fun.The guys I met became my good friends and eventually my brothers and we shared a bond that I don't even get with friends I've known my whole life. The amazing thing was it wasn't just me who had friends it was every single guy in the OBC. Don't be afraid of the unknown. - Brendan Boyle OBC 2013 ses 4 RID: 45735

THEY DONT LET YOU HAVE CANDY BUT IF YOU BRING IT IN YOUR TRUNK WHEN YOU FIRST GET HERE NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW!! THE COUNSELORS ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER MEET!!! LIKE OMG YOU NEED TO COME HERE! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!! EVERYONE IS SO POSITIVE AND THE PEOPLE WHO AREN'T ARE THE ONES WHO DON'T FIT IN!!! NO ONE MAKES FUN OF YOU AND YOU CAN TRULY BE YOURSELF!!! THE FOOD AND CABINS ARE AWESOME EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY BE A LITTLE DIRTY FROM TIME TO TIME OR YOU MAY SEE A BUG LIKE WHATEVER YOU ARE AT CAMP NOT THE HILTON FOR GOODNESS SAKE!! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY COME TO KINGSLEY PINES!! RID: 45700
Click to report rating    7/26/12   5     5     5     5     4   My first summer at this camp, I got very seriously hurt about halfway through the session, had to take several trips to the ER, and I still have a lot of scarring. My parents scheduled a phone call with me and asked me if I wanted to come home. Ten years old, with a leg full of stitches, I refused. I wanted to wait out the session. I was having a good time, regardless of the fact that I couldn't bend my leg. After five years, and eight total sessions, of Kingsley Pines, I decided I would no longer be returning. This place has changed me so much and I loved it there so much, but it's time to move on. The staff was always wonderful to me, and some of my best friends at camp are staff members who I still stay in touch with. The food was, I agree, a little shoddy, but it's worth it. The friends I made at camp are people who will forever live in my heart and have helped me overcome many challenges. If you're on the fence, bite the bullet and go for it. Camp was the best place I've ever been RID: 42104
Click to report rating    6/22/12   5     5     5     5     5   My 16 year old daughter is gleefully experiencing her third and final summer at KP. She has had nothing but glowing accolades about the camp. As a parent, I have been more than pleased with the attentiveness of the staff, the quality of the activities offered and the family vibe. I highly recommend this camp. RID: 41391

Click to report rating    3/11/12   5     4     5     5     4   I went to KP last year and it great. The activities were great, the food was good, and most of the counselors were great except for one or two. The cabins could have used some work, but overall a lot of fun. RID: 40508
Click to report rating    1/15/12   5     5     5     5     5   this camp is AMAZING. most of the faculty is amazing...caring but outgoing and entertaining! The activities are awesome...you are always doing something fun rain or shine. Food is pretty ok...i like that they always have a vegetarian option. Overall just a really great experience with great people!! RID: 37733
Click to report rating    6/5/11   5     5     5     5     5   I love KP. I went for the first time last year, and had a great time. A week from today I leave for camp again, and I'm really excited. The food was good, and they always have a vegetarian option, which is really nice. The activities were really fun, and even when it was raining, there was something to do. Some people complain about bugs in the cabins, but last year I didn't really notice any. The counselors were cool, and even helped us plan a kitchen raid. There were nine other girls in my cabin, and they were all pretty nice. Over the two week session I was there, my cabin grew close. I'll never forget our last night. We went down to the beach, and sat in a big circle. The lake was beautiful, and you could see fireflies. Three at a time, we sat in the middle with our eyes closed, and our counselor would say a good quality, and the others would put their hand on the person's shoulder that most fit it. At KP, I felt like I really belonged. Overall, it was an amazing experience RID: 36044

1/11/11   2     4     4     1     2   My first son had a positive experience at KP but his younger brother did not. He was very homesick and when I contacted the directors to ask how he was doing they didn't even know who he was or what cabin he was in. They said they would have to "get back to me". I don't think the staff get to know your kid well or what his needs are. My son felt isolated and he was not attended to. I would not recommend. RID: 34744

Click to report rating    9/13/10   2     2     2     1     1   This camp is horrible, their are so many rules and consiquences you might at well just go to school. Also the kids there are so very anti-social. If you like school and anti-social kids go to this camp. RID: 34043
Click to report rating    8/29/10   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is my favorite person in the world. I just finished my last year. I hope that Kingsley Pines never changes so that I can send my kids there and they will have the same experience I did. I can't imagine that there is another summer camp better that this one. The counselors are incredible- so fun and crazy. The facilities are top notch. They have an incredible wide range of activities for people with all different kinds of interests. The food is fine- not gourmet, but exactly what is to be expected at a summer camp. Yes, the cabins have bugs, but this is only because of the rustic nature of the camp. Any summer camp without bugs in the cabins is not a real camp. Give KP a shot- you won't regret it! RID: 33901

11/4/09   1     1     1     1     1   I went to Kingsley Pines once b/c I heard about it and it looked fun. Boy was I wrong. I'm not spoiled or anything, but the cabins were gross. There was a big poisonous spider, a rat, and dust all over. I got so sick! I got bug bitten up all over. The food was pretty bad too. The conselours were mean, but the kids were even worse! They were mean and rude and hated me, just b/c I was new. I tried to hard to be friends with them, and everyday I would say something nice, but they would just roll their eyes and gossip about me. They had a whole group together, and left me out. One girl was so mean she locked me out of the cabin when the consolers weren't there, and the whole group trashed by area and bed. I told the consolers and they said it was no big deal. Also, the cabin started a club that was just to make fun of me. The group and the other cabin was in it, so I was all alone. I hated this camp. I will never go back, and I don't recommend anyone else to go there either. RID: 31511
Click to report rating    9/13/09   5     5     5     5     5   We participated in the Family Camp program. Loved it! Best vacation ever. Food was excellent. Rustic, woodsy 150 acre property. Not too big to get lost and not too small either. They use their space very effectively. Food was great! Loved the variety and all the different ways to individually "dress up" your entree to how you like it. The lake is beautiful and scenic. Perfect experience. Must do it again! RID: 30966

Click to report rating    12/4/08   5     5     5     5     5   Kingley Pines is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. The counselors are great and all the activities are so much fun. I love that you can try so many different things, things that aren't available at home. I have made some of my best friends during my summers at camp. This camp is just full of amazing people who care about what they do. I highly recommend it to anyone. RID: 27826
Click to report rating    11/6/08   5     5     5     5     5   Kingsley Pines is the best camp ever. I went there for seven years and only stopped because I was too old to go anymore. I made life long friends that I still talk to regularly, and the staff were always there for me when I was feeling a little down(which was rare). Despite what other people have said, the food was not half bad and the bugs, well it is a camp and if your looking for a camp WITHOUT bugs good luck. They have a great range of activities and it's always challange by choice so you're never forced to do anything you don't like. The staff like I said before are great. They create a friendly atmosphere that is always welcoming and easy going. Whenever anyone asks me what made me the person I am today, I always answer without hesitation my years at Kingsley Pines because they taught me leadership skills and many other things that have helped me through my life. Thanks KP,you rock! RID: 27338
Click to report rating    11/5/08   5     5     5     5     5   A lifetime of memories. This is what our children have from their years at Kingsley Pines. Our boys have been attending Kingsley Pines for more than 3 summers now and they love it! The counselors and staff are amazing and attentive to each child's individual needs. Kingsley Pines has had such a positive impact on our children as evidenced by the art projects, essays, and homework assignments that come home all describing in some way the wonderful times at camp. Our boys have made friends with other campers and counselors and maintain contact with them throughout the year on Facebook and via email. Kingsley Pines is like an extended family for our children and we are so glad to have found this amazing camp! Kingsley Pines - The Way Camp Should Be! RID: 27308
Click to report rating    11/3/08   5     5     5     5     5   I went to KP from 1996 until 1999. I started going only one session at a time, but loved it so much that I switched to two for my older boy year and as a CIT. I love this place, the beauty of the lake, the close friendships I made, and the amount I grew there as a person. It is a truly safe place for a young person to express themselves and try new things. The camper population was from diverse parts of the world and country with a large number of international campers but still many from the greater new england area. The variety of activities was large and will please campers interested in water activities, arts, adventure sports and traditional field sports. I highly recommend Kingsley Pines. RID: 27282
Click to report rating    11/1/08   5     5     5     5     5   Last summer was my fourth summer I spent at Kingsley Pines. During that time I have come back to camp both as a camper and as a counselor. Knowing these two sides of camp, and also having experience with going to other overnight summer camps in New England, I am confident saying that Kingsley Pines is one of the greatest camps a child can go to. The facilities are amazing, with a brand new high ropes course, soccer field and water ski boats. The amazing staff do all that they can to give each child individual attention to make him/her feel special help them to appreciate the time they spend at camp. There is a wide variety of activities for campers to do, including drama, music, football, fencing, tennis, sailing, windsurfing, band, jewelry, ceramics, rock climbing, golf and baseball. The friendly atmosphere at Kingsley Pines is truly unique. I highly, highly recommend Kingsley Pines for anyone looking to make spectacular summer memories. RID: 27245

Click to report rating    7/16/08   1     1     1     1     1   I went to Camp Kingsley Pines for one year. I thought this camp's cabins was really gross. One one consoler was nice, to be honest. The activities were okay, although the lake had leeches and the bathrooms and showers had many bugs. The food was not good to tell you the truth. Although, Kingsley Pines is not the worst camp, I just didn't like it too much. The had good activities, so I was never bored during they day, only when I was in my cabin. RID: 24876

Click to report rating    10/4/07   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is absolutely, without the slightest doubt, offers the best traditional camp experience of any around. The staff is selected each year in a process similiar(in style and competition) to that of top college admission processes and then trained far beyond the usual amount for a week before camp. The facilities are fantastic, with brand new waterski boats seemingly every year, well-maintained athletic fields, a huge rope swing, and pretty much anything else you can imagine at a summer camp. The entire camp experience is structured in a pleasing, traditional manner that sends kids home wanting to return year after year. Example: all the boys cabins are named after mountains in Maine, and the girl cabins are named after lakes and rivers. There is even a scary story behind the reason for this that is passed down every year to a new generation. It is unlikely you will find a better camp anywhere, and certainly not in the Northeast.
