The horses are the best around, the staff is great, and even the food is ok. The bathrooms are bathrooms in the woods, what do you REALLY expect?! It is MUCH better than Laughing Waters, I wouldn't go there if I were paid. I wish they would bring some of the old staff back, they has some really great counselors back in the day! I only wish they were going to be open this summer! Please don't close CHF!! RID: 29405

Maybe I'm just old-fashioned in my camping thoughts, but the cookout I attended-- the counselors were doing all the work preparing the food and starting the fire. Aren't the children going there to learn this? The staff let the children run rampid over the unit while the meal was being prepared-- supervision seemed to be lacking! At two different points, I saw campers walking around the camp without staff! If they were CIT's that would be a different story but these were girls who were young--- does the camp need a reminder that they are centered along a road??? I would never in my right mind send a child to this camp-- I value my child's life and safety, the money I'd be sending to ensure their getting what the program offers, and the overall idea of a good GS camp program to do so! Click to report rating    6/3/08   3     3     5     4     5   I really enjoyed this camp. I went there last year for horseback riding and made a lot of friends. I don't know why people are saying it's dangerous; my counselors sent people to the nurse immediately if they got hurt. The only issues I had with this camp were the relatively poor facilities and a few mean staff members. The facilities aren't really that bad, but the bathrooms are gross. But, that's a given with camp in the woods. The problem I had with a staff member was that one time, we were walking in the rain at night, really fast, and I had a horrible blister from my boot. I asked the counselor if we could walk a little slower, so she snapped at me and told me that if it hurt so bad I couldn't ride for the rest of the week. That really ticked me off, and I ended up not riding for a few days. And also, my blister had popped and started bleeding badly. My boot has a huge bloodstain in it. So, great camp, mostly terrific counselors. That one was the only one I ever had problems with. RID: 23544

Click to report rating    7/28/07   1     1     1     1     1   My Niece was injured the first night she arrived and no one called her parents. They made her participate in activities with the arm injury which happened as a result of a broken bunk bed. Today her parents are dealing with the lice and louse she came home with and spread to her family. The bathrooms were disgusting and they won't call you if your kid gets hurt. They will never return your phone calls so don't bother to get in touch with the director. They other girl scout camp she went to last year was never as bad as Camp Hidden Falls is. Don't waste your money sending your kids to this camp. They are in danger if they go. RID: 13363
