Click to report rating    4/17/17   2     3     3     2     3   Son was bullied on the bus the junior counselor did NOTHING. When I called the counselor he just said "i told them to stop but they wouldn't". WOW! Thanks for your help!(EYE ROLL). Contacted Senior Staff: nothing was done since the bully's parents "were hard to reach and not very responsive". I mean seriously, the lack of concern and pervasive laziness. We would never go back RID: 50641

1/9/15   5     5     5     5     5   My two kids (a girl and a boy) have been attending the various FS camps (soccer, tennis, baseball, multi-sports) for 5 years now and each summer they have a wonderful and positive experience. Not only have their sports skills improved significantly but they have had tremendous fun. They have made friends from all over the tri-state area that carry through to during the school year. The directors of each camp are responsive, caring and clearly have strong leadership skills and the staff in general knows how to truly care for my children and ensure that they are not only learning new athletic skills but are having a great time while doing so. I have also been impressed with how the camp has fostered a sense of healthy competition and positive sportsmanship. All in all I have been incredibly pleased and I plan to send both my kids back for summers to come. RID: 48275

1/6/15   5     5     5     5     5   I attended the diving camp for 5 years and it was the best program ever. Mike Darland the director is a great coach and really knows how to help you through challenging dives. There are many other really talented coaches including Dick Kimball who was a former Olympic Coach. They have so much equipment to help you. They have trampolines with harnesses, diving boards with harnesses, foam pits, and an aeration system to soften the water. For divers who want to excel this is a great opportunity. I’m in college now and I was a counselor at Future Stars in the Rising Stars program last summer. I just met with them over break and am all set to return again this summer. Just like diving program, we had so many amazing & dedicated people working with the kids. It is a great place to work and most rewarding to see the kids exploring new frontiers, making new friends and enjoying their summer vacation. RID: 48262

Click to report rating    7/17/14   1     3     3     2     2   there is no instruction here. i ask my son everyday what they did and he tells me they did a scrimmage. i ask if they taught anything? answer: counselors where on cell phones. there is no teaching, no personal attention, i dont even feel safe with him there. You are suppose to sign your child out, well i went to pick him up and i could of just walked out with him. no one asked ?'s or stopped me. Everyone that works there are kids, maybe a couple years older than my son. Camp is a joke for what they advertise. My son is having fun for a reg camp but not for a baseball camp!!! RID: 47613
Click to report rating    7/16/14   1     2     3     2     1   I wanted to like this camp. I imagined sending all three of my kids here because they could each pick out what they like to do. I don't think that I will bother. The soccer camper/counselor ratio is very far off (our local AYSO, where the dads coach on Sunday mornings is better, according to my child). Our daughter's swim bag "disappeared" while she as having lunch on her second day. So much as finding out how the lost/found works was a chore (and then it never turned up). One of my kids won't even go in the pool there because he said the locker room is gross. One of my kids was picked on by an older camper. I don't know if a counselor saw it when it was happening, but my child now doesn't want to bother doing the second week of that sport. (And there are no refunds.) The pickups are a disaster on rainy days--even when you are on time. How rainy day pickups are handled was not communicated beforehand. On our first rainy day pick-up, our kids' pickups were at different ends of the camp RID: 47606
Click to report rating    1/12/14   1     3     2     1     2   I picked the Future Stars summer academic camp program in 2013 because I wanted my child to improve on his writing skills. It was a total waste of money. I was told prior to the start of camp that Dan and the counselors would work with my child on improving essay writing skills(i.e., paragraph structure, organization, graphic organizer, etc.). This was not the case. Dan and the counselors looked over his essays and basically corrected several spelling errors and that was about it. I also found out that they watched several PG13 movies (which may or may not be appropriate depending on the movie) as the basis for generating writing topics. PG13 movies may or may not be appropriate for an 11 year old. They should have told the parents in advance. I was also told when I signed that the counselors would consist of mostly college kids specializing in early education. This was not the case. They were mostly high school juniors or seniors. Needless to say, we will not be returning. RID: 46563
Click to report rating    8/9/12   3     1     1     3     1   Terrible tennis camp at Purchase. If it rains, your kids play dodgeball in the gym. They tell you they bus you to an indoor tennis facility but that is totally false. Our son only played tennis about 1.5 days out of 5. Total waste of $750. RID: 42303

4/26/08   4     5     5     3     2   I went to the circus camp (don't laugh I was like eight!!) and it was fun when i was little, but it got a little repetitive the next year. i can still remember all the stuff that i learned tho, like the tightrope, unicycle, hat tricks, balancing things, spanish web, etc. Most of the counselors were great, but some of them had NO IDEA WHAT THEY WERE DOING! once i was climbing the spanish web, and the counselor who was supposed to be spinning it kept on jerking it because she was confused and i almost fell! besides that, it was pretty good. Click to report rating    2/7/08   4     1     5     3     4   This is an fun camp. The food is great and you will loveit. The food has many different choices. So does the whole camp. You can do soccer, basketball, baseball, ect. The counselors are pretty friendly and you don't get so much attention but it doesn't matter because you'll make friends in a day!!!! RID: 19972
Click to report rating    1/31/08   3     1     3     3     4   This camp was alright. I went for volleyball for 2 weeks for 2 years. The first year was good and really helped me improve on volleyball. The next year the first week was good but then the counselor that i lked left, and was replaced by someone who didnt no how to play volleyball. It really hot in the gym but the food is great RID: 19664
Click to report rating    8/5/07   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to Future Stars Tennis Camp at SUNY Purchase College for 6 years. If your really serious about tennis this probably isn't the camp for you. They have groups for all level players. The on court counselors are very good players from many different countries, and are well trained to teach your child. The off court counselors are very nice, and are there to make sure your child has fun. The facilities are very good there are 24 courts and 2 large fields. If tennis doesn't appeal to you they also have computer and sports camp, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and circus camp. If Purchase isn't close enough to you, you can visit the Future Stars Website to find other Future Stars Camps in the US. Overall this camp is a fun day camp, which is well run and well organized.
