This camp has refused to return my deposit for my daughter that I made over 5 months ago when she was placed on a waiting list … of the 3 weeks we chose she was like #171, # 152, and #105. I called May 2 and was promised my refund was in the mail, called May 23 and spoke with Mary Francis who was rude and then Margaret who told me my money was being refunded minus the $50 application fee…. Well today is July 28 and they refuse to allow me to talk to Margaret and sent me to her voice mail and she hasn’t returned my call. And this camo is very expensive and there is no financial assistance unless you live in Montgomery County. But keeping $50 for each kid that doesn’t get in over a 12 week period of just 100 kids a week is about $60,000 a summer. That’s a nice amount of money for doing nothing ! I have nothing nice to say, my kid didn’t go here and I am glad after reading the reviews, don’t even apply or you will probably just loose your money!!!!

I attended Camp Ozark for 8 years as a kid and loved it. Upon reflection, however, I am realizing just how corrupt and horrible this place was. I specifically remember how horribly they treated their counselors (who I loved). The counselors had no choice but to present an extreme form of Christianity with a lot of evangelical sentiments (lots of shaming, homophobia, etc) even if they didn't necessarily agree. This camp is EXPENSIVE and is essentially an industry. I definitely would send my kid to a smaller, less problematic camp. I credit the counselors I had at Camp Ozark with so much; the camp itself and its leadership - they have issues. Surprised they haven't been brought down yet.

As a former camper I can say unless you fit the cookie cutter all American boy/girl this camp is not for you. The councilors are nice, but god the staff is horrible. They are so rude to the councilors and any camper that doesn’t fit in. They are VERY ANTI-GAY. I’ve also know a bunch of former Ozark campers who were driven to self harm during their stay. I was one of us, and instead of getting help, I was expelled. They pulled me aside when everyone was at their activities, made me pack my bags, then left me with a camp mom at the gates until my parents arrived. We got no money back, and they didn’t even let me say goodbye to my friends. I had even written a goodbye letter, which was never sent. The same thing happened to a friend, but she was kicked out for being a lesbian. Please please please, don’t support this camp.

I worked at this camp in the office as part of the staff. They took our phones and computers when we arrived. They also only let us make one phone call to our family but we have to stand in line for over an hour in order to use the phone. They work us very hard lots of walking. They make the pay sound great but based on the hours worked 6 am to 8 pm you really only make about $4 per hour. Also the preacher there is very judgemental. You really only learn about the owner of the camps family. The bright side is they are very God focused. They have daily devotionals and prayer. I am a junior in college and management treated us like we were kids. Talk are very condescending. The hardest part is that you can only have your phone on off days when is one day a week. The food is good. But you get three meals a day but NO SNACKING in between. Working at this camp was very misleading at first. If you want to feel like you are in jail than this is the place to be. Please choose wisely.

Unless you want to give total control of your custodial kiddo up, DON’T think about sending them to this camp. Any person who signs them up gets control of their account blocking anyone else from making any changes or seeing any updates on the children. This person does not need to be a family member. Beware. I had to get my lawyer involved.

This Camp is literally the WOAT. They treat their counselors like they are their personal property. You can't imagine how terrible they treat their people. Their counselors are subjected to things that are simply degrading. I am shocked that places like this still exist today. The place should go out of business -- they treat their people like dirt.

We sent two of our children to Camp Ozark last summer. They LOVED it! It is more expensive than any other camp they have attended, but both agreed (as our neighbor friend described it), "It's better than Disney World!" Both were in middle school aged areas. There were not bathrooms in their cabins, but next year they will move up to the older age group that does. There are fans in the rooms/common areas, but no A/C. However, that did not take away from their experience. The staff was very attentive and inspiring to the kids--I would definitely say it was a life changing experience for my son! The only negative we experienced was that the foil packed Benadryl we'd sent (in case my camper needed it) was taken away and we were charged a $75 fee for sending it in his bag. He never even needed it, and he never took it, but that was very frustrating. We felt he is mature enough to know when he needs a Benadryl. But lesson learned!

Camp Ozark is undoubtedly the best part of my summer every year. I have been going to camp for eight years (going on nine) and it's the highlight of my summer! I get to have a blast, be renewed in my faith, and meet lifelong friends.

I went here for 8 summers, two weeks each year. At first I loved it -- I was 9 years old and got to spend time making new friends and doing fun activities! But the older I got the more disillusioned I became. 1) The Message: Camp Ozark is a "Christian" summer camp...so dated in their mindset that they are vehemently anti-gay. I had a friend who grew up there who was otherwise a lovely girl, but because she spent so much time around the staff, she had very low opinions of anyone who was not white/christian/straight/cis. 2) The Staff: The older I got, the clearer it became that Sam Torn (owner) has profits at the forefront of his mind. A friend of mine got in an almost deadly accident less than a week before camp one year, so we thought we would send her her yearly camper prize (a backpack) filled with nice notes. But Sam Torn quickly shut us down. She had not attended camp, so she did not get the backpack. There is much more I could say, but I'm at the character limit. I don't recommend.

I was a long term, loyal camper at ozark. Camp Ozark created a strong foundation for my faith in Christ. It was on the porch of a cabin with a friend and counselor that I truly accepted God into my life. This is a place where people can come just as they are and are taught that they are enough and loved. The counselors and staff here have impacted me in ways I can't begin to explain. Yes the counselors are worked extremely hard but most of them are happy there because they are sharing the love of Christ though their actions while loving, caring, and guiding children. It may be expensive but it is worth every penny. There is a large variety of activities for every child. Whether they like sports or arts & crafts and whether they are 7 or 17 they will fall in love with ozark. Its good for kids (or even counselors) to detox from phones and the real word to spend some time at heaven on earth. Camp Ozark is truly incomparable.

I have had 3 children go through this camp, 2 for 10 years and one just returned from her 9th. My two oldest also went for a year as counselors. It is an incredible place, and is where each of my children truly found Christ to be their personal Savior! We attend a great church with wonderful youth programs, but still they attribute that moment to Ozark. The counselors are very screened, work within a very disciplined framework, and have true joy to share with the campers. We love this camp, and are so happy our children decided to leave our wonderful state of Texas to have a new experience for 2 weeks every year!

My daughter is attending Camp Ozark for her second time this summer. She loves this camp. I was hesitant to send her out of state. After many calls to speak to the staff, off she went. I chuckled at a previous comment. The first thing my daughter said to me after not seeing her for a week was," Next year ,I am staying 2 weeks ?"

Camp Ozark was a wonderful experience for me as a 8 year camper. The staff is caring and attends to your child's personal needs. The med staff takes care of any injury (which is highly rare). The camp moms handle homesickness and (if requested) can call you everyday to let you know how your camper is doing. The food is very tasty, and if your kid is gluten-free or vegetarian, they can fit to every need. The activities are what every kid wants. They compete, swim, run, play, ride, skate, kick, and play sports. If your kid is not really the sporty type, there is craft sheds, woodworking, painting, soap and bath creations, sewing, pottery, etc. bathrooms and cabins are very good. I call the top bunk! Camp ozark is a very fun camp for any one. Sometimes I here my parents telling me that if they knew this was here, they would've gone too.:)

I started camp ozark when I was eight for one week, and the first thing I said to my parents were not "I love you and missed you" but "can I go two weeks next year?" I am now a loyal 5 year camper and going to go tgere until im 17. I can honestly say that this camp is brtter than any other camp! Camp ozark has taught me more about Christ than any church has ever done because its fun, relatable, and amazing! The food is great, the staff is absolutely INCREDIBLE ( how do they find such great people?) and the friends are life-lasting! Thank you camp ozark for being the thing I must look forward to every year!

Camp Ozark is Great! My children LOVE it! The staff works very hard at making this a wonderful experience. First year campers have camp moms call and give updates on your camper. They have a wonderful website with daily pictures and much more. Camp is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Go Osage!

Camp Ozark was VERY professional in every aspect. Starting with my gathering information off their website, to signing up and choosing activities via the web, and their superior organization with loading kids on the buses without a hitch. My two kids (ages 8 and 10) had a fabulous time and met great friends!!! GO OSAGE!!!

This is a great camp experience! We have girls that attended Waldemar for years and have had the bar set high for a great camp experience and this is it! My son wanted to join his cousins at Camp Ozark instead of attending his Dad's childhood boy's camp in the hill country of Texas and we are very glad we made the decision to send him to this FINE Christian camp. The staff is always very accommodating and the facilities are top notch! The activities that the children have the opportunity to participate in are wide ranging and well-taught. The kid's feel very connected not only to their counselor's but to the Torn's as well. The love of children and the desire of the Torn's and their family to share God's love with every camper is truly evident in the way they operate this camp. My son and our family is truly blessed to have been exposed to the Camp Ozark experience!

I was a nine year camper and from the first day I stepped foot into Camp Ozark it was my home away from home. The worst part about this camp is leaving! All of the staff members, not just counselors, are magnificent and are very experienced. Camp Ozark also helped me to have a relationship with Christ and for that, I will always thank Camp Ozark. I won't be returning this summer unfortunately and I am very sad. I love my Ozark family and all the fun they provide. Send your kids here! And if you don't have the money, they can earn their tuition at Camp War Eagle, Camp Ozark's partner camp, through community service and achievements in school. Ozark also gives scholarships. If it could, Ozark would take in every child in the world, and every one of those kids would have the time of their lives. I HIGHLY recommend this camp. Not an opportunity to be missed out on!

My son attended this camp for four years and we were very pleased. A great Christian atmosphere, but not in your face, over the top. Beautiful setting on the Ouchita River in Arkansas. We were very impressed with the counselors there who were all great examples. I've looked at lots of camps and the faciilites, activities and staff can't be beat here. Worth the money!

One of the best camps out there. Their facilities are better than any I've seen, the staff of such high quality, and the amount of activities offered is staggering. I don't know how they do it year after year, but Ozark always seems to get better and better. My kids have been to several other camps but wouldn't think of leaving Ozark. They would be so mad at me! Ozark is a bit pricey, but it is, in my opinion, the best summer camp out there in this part of the country (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, etc.)
