This may be my favorite place on earth. Everything we do here is fun- from tubing, the giant swing, to color war dance parties. The staff are all super nice and helpful and the food is really good. This is such a great camp because everyone can let loose, have fun, be themselves, and enjoy life.

Camp St. Charles is wonderful! They have an incredibly caring and devoted staff, focused on helping kids increase their self-sufficiency, responsibility, being kind to others, and overcoming obstacles. The camp is situated on a beautiful site on the Wicomico River with an amazing array of activities. Our 4 kids (ages 6 - 12), who we adopted just 6 months earlier, showed tremendous growth in self-esteem and responsibility during their two week session...and they loved Camp St. Charles!! During parents' visiting day, they were so eager to show off their newly learned skills in paddle-boarding and swimming,as well as showing us the entire camp. They made great friends from all backgrounds and all walks of life, and are eager to see them again this coming summer. We highly recommend Camp St. Charles!

I went to this camp in the late 70's and early 80's, as did three of my older brothers, and my younger brother. We all spent three+ Summer's there, most of the time for consecutive sessions. Session 2 and 3 seem the best for us. Our generation has sent five or six of our children, and my children will atend when they become of age. No you can't pick you own activities, except during daily Pollywog and the 'free session' because you are on a team that does team activities. Yes, there are no ipads, cell phones or other nonsense. Children learn team building, healthy competition, some boating, and wilderness skills. I also learned how to become a much more proficient swimmer that sticks to me to this day, and I'm 42. (Elementary backstroke, anyone?) Also, after breakfast every day the campers clean their cabins, shake out their sheets and attend to their wet clothing (due to swimming/boating) - everything kids need to do these days but don't always learn.

I have had five children attend Camp St. Charles over the past 15 years and would highly recommend it to other parents. It is a rustic traditional camp with lots of outdoor activities including boating, horseback riding, crafts, a ropes challenge course, etc... The cabins are very basic, but what makes this camp are the great friendships that my children have made here and are renewed each year when they return. The staff has been great, and the Director, herself a mother of two, is someone you feel good is in charge when you leave. Your child may miss the comforts of home, their ipod, cell phone, and video games for about two9 minutes after you leave, but I believe they too will fall in love with all Camp St. Charles has to offer.

Camp St. Charles is the best summer camp that I have ever been too! I never went there as a camper, only as staff, however it was the best summer that I have ever had. The people there are super nice and friendly, and they accommodate the campers as best as they can. It's not a high end fancy place, but that's what makes it great. It has charm. I highly recommend trying it out!

I remember the painstaking task of finding a summer camp for my very bright yet socially challenged son. To my surprise my family was introduced to the wonderful experience at Camp St Charles! The Director was very accepting of the potential challenges of making sure a young man had all the support needed to be socially support by staff and peers. It was a true fun and adventurous from fishing to tubing to petting the animals to off site trips to bunging swinging to swimming and their own style of dodge ball. My son made friends and built his social skills. He was a peer mentor the following year and became a hit with the young campers. Because of his complex medically profile, CSC made tuition affordable through their scholarship. His experiences with CSC are part of his strong foundation of self esteem and commitment to his community. Parents Google Trenton Gilstrap he is a product of CSC. Please show your support the counselors are well educated and caring and diversed.

I was never a camper at Camp St. Charles (just staff), which makes me sad. I only heard of this camp in 2011, but i'm glad i did. Camp St. Charles is the best camp in the world. Two weeks is the perfect amount of time for campers to stay. I love going to Kings Dominion with some of the campers. Every day at Camp St. Charles, i see campers smiling and having fun. CSC is where friendships are born. I will definitely continue going back to Camp St. Charles each summer.

My children look forward to going to Camp St. Charles every year. I love that my children learn about canoeing, archery, swimming, horse back riding, and more in a Christian atmosphere. We will be back for our 4th year! The camp director is awesome to work with!

My kids love Camp St. Charles! They went here as campers, worked here as CITs, continued as Counselors, and even worked as Camp Admin. My brother went here in the 70's when it was all boys. Even better now that it's coed! Kids are so happy here! It's a wholesome atmosphere with lot's to do. That makes me happy as a parent! Here are a couple things that make this camp special... friendships kids form are long-lasting! My kids still get together with kids they first met at camp over 10 years ago. Some of these kids come from other countries, and yet they keep in touch! Secondly, the setting is beautiful and peaceful being surrounded by water and breathtaking views. Camp is situated on a peninsula, so there's only one way in or out. It's safe! The staff is well trained and kids look out for each other. It's a loving and nurturing environment where kids learn about themselves, the environment and the world via interactions with U.S. and international staff. It's great!

My family has been apart of Camp St. Charles for 15. I personally have been with Camp St. Charles for 13 years. I started going to CSC when I was 7 years old. And I can honestly tell you that I do not know who I would be in my life if I had never attended. When I was a camper I had the greatest times of my life there. It gives children a chance to grow as a person and gives them an idea of responsibility. I recommend Camp St. Charles to pretty much everyone I encounter that has children. This is a great place with a great mission to help children to appreciate the little things in life that help them become the person they will be.

I've gone to camp since I was 7 and stayed all the way through being at CIT at age 15, l love the place so much. Wonderful place, beautiful scenery filled with great people and experiences you can only get at camp. Momories from camp are irreplacable, never been homesick and camp leads to great independence. The only bad part of camp is the kids that whine about everything and just want to do one thing. Camp helps you broaden your interests!

My children enjoy attending Camp St. Charles. The facilities are rustic, it is more comfortable than tent camping but it is not a hotel. I enjoy seeing daily pictures of the kids and hearing about their adventures once they return home.

This is your grandfather's camp. If your kid needs to unplug and be with real people instead of virtual friends, this is the place. My child has been to resorts all over the world. But when you ask him what he wants to do for the summer, he says Camp Saint Charles. Are the accommodations primitive? Absolutely. If you are a helicopter parent and/or can't handle the idea of your kid having a cold shower or two, this place is probably not going to be a good fit for you. For our family, however, we have experienced two benefits: We have watched our son become more independent and sure of himself as a result of his experiences at camp, and he has come to appreciate some of the basic joys of summer - telling ghost stories, riding horses, caring for animals, working with ceramics, swimming in the pool, and so forth. We will be back.

Terrible place to send your child. My child was extremely homesick and they refused to contact me. They conveniently lost bunk mail and when I finally got a letter it was late at night. When I asked to speak to her they refused. Only when I called and told them to have her get her things ready and that I was coming to get her did they decide to let her call me. When I got there to pick her up, I was completely ignored and refused a refund for week two. They said they do not refund for homesickness. My daughter then told me later that she went to the director crying to call me and she told her that there was nothing she could do for her and to go back to her activity. Two days after we got home we got an email to check her for lice since it was rampant in the camp. Fortunately she did not have it but she did have a rash on her back, shoulders and down the backs of her arms that went away within a day but who knows what that could have been. I would never recommend this place.

I dropped my 11 year old son off at cabin 5 yesterday. We sent him to this camp last year same session an he absolutely loved the experience and kept in contact w/ friends made last year. The camp is rustic and I am astonished that he loves this camp. He is used to vacationing in Disney and on cruises 2-3 times a years and is accustomed to suites. The fact that he loves the camp is wonderful and the camping experience is great for him and one that our family does not provide. It is not the Ritz but is fine.

I just dropped off my son and horrified by its facilities' run-down conditions. The cabin#5 is falling apart with dead bugs every where(underneat the bunk beds) It looks like there's absolute no cleaning or maintenance for years! I wasn't expecting "fancy" environment but at least to be safe and descent. I wasn't really felt welcomed by staffs at all!It was way too expensive for the money that I spend for $1200 and I may have to pick him up next Sunday if things don't go well with him. Hopely, he overcomes this challenges and be thankful for what he has and benefit his life in long run. Meantime, I can't fall asleep worring about him :( PLEASE check this place before you send your kids by attending spring weekend.

My husband attended Camp St. Charles and loved it. Our children have been going there for the last 8 years and have had wonderful experiences. This is not "fancy" camp...it's a fantastic, fun and welcoming old fashion camp experience. I would (and do) recommend to all!!!

This is a summer camp for kids not a high end resort as someone else expected in a previous comment. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this camp. All staff members are awesome and VERY, VERY accommodating. My 13 yr. old daughter, who has been attending for over 3 yrs. looks forward every summer to going to Camp St. Charles. I remember last year she had gotten sick and they immediately called me to let me know and fortunately, it did not last very long but she commented that they took very good care of her. Simply the BEST! Look forward to another year for 2012!!!!

I did not like Camp St. Charles. We were not allowed to choose our activities. the food was horrible, and SUPER limited. The facilities were disgusting, with one minute showers, and freezing cold water. Also, the camp was VERY run-down. Most of the cabins were falling apart, and the swimming pool was not well-kept. I did not feel safe going on the "Giant Swing", which is simply a few ropes strung between three telephone poles. Also, 5 or 6 KIDS and only ONE adult are using a ROPE to pull you up! NEVER doing THAT again! I will not be going back to Camp St. Charles. EVER.

This is such an amazing camp. I have met so many of my best friends here. Even though it is a Christian based camp, anyone can really go. I have been there 3 years and will be a CIT next year. The director is aweosme to. The only bad part is they really dont let you be with the guys alone
