The Thomsen family (now third generation) have summer camp in their genetics. A wholesome, active, and instructive atmosphere led by a senior staff of about 15 that range in commitment to Deerwood from 45 to 20 years the staff of about 70 make Deerwood a healthy learning and experiential environment. My son learned blacksmithing there and became the blacksmith counselor for his years in college. Now in his 40's he has his own forge as a hobby producing wonderful works. Deerwood is an amazing place and an investment in your son's education equal to private school and college!

I go to camp waukeela and we have dances with this camp! The boys are really nice and cool;)

My son went to this camp for 3 years and LOVED it; I would almost say it was a life-changing experience for him. I cannot say enough good things about this camp--the activities are great, the spirit and ambience of this camp is so positive and uplifting. My son also raved about how good the food is. So much credit goes to the Thomsen family, their Senior Staff; as they say, it all starts at the top and their ability to continually attract great counselors as excellent role models for the boys and maintain such a positive vibe at this camp year after year is astounding. The only downside to this camp is the price as it does cost twice the amount of a YMCA camp but I guess excellence (and camper-to-counselor ratio) comes at a price.

amazing staff with incredible dedication to fun and growth- with some traditional values thrown in for good measure. what better place to spend the summer than on Squam Lake in the White Mountains surrounded by good food and comraderie?

Deerwood has continued to be a special place on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It is being run by the third generation of the founding family and remains true to its goal of building character and strength in the boys that are campers, and letting them have great fun in the process!

I love camp deerwood so much, I had so much fun there and Ilove all of the counselors, they're so great and really nice.
