Click to report rating    8/16/12   5     5     5     5     5   Hi! I have been going to Ockanickon for 3 years now, and it is AMAZING!!! They have the greatest staff, food, and program! I got 7 merit badges at camp this year!!! I strongly recommend Ockanickon to be your next choice in scout camping! P.S. Don't listen to what those other reviews tell you. RID: 42402
Click to report rating    7/14/12   2     1     4     3     2   I didn't like the staff because they were mean. They didn't like me at all. When I bought a popcorn at the store I walked out of the back door instead of the front and a staff member came after me asking if I stole the popcorn. All the bathrooms are concrete holes in the ground and only a few of the buildings are air conditioned. The week I went it was in the 90s every day. For the showers you need to pull a string to make water come out. Only adults get flush toilets. The activities were ok at best. I don't feel like I got any personal attention. Overall I think it was a waste of money. RID: 41697
Click to report rating    6/26/10   4     4     4     3     3   My boys just back from Ockanickon today. They had a fun, but I am disappointed that they did not recieve a camp patch or t-shirt for the amount of money we paid. The boys enjoyed their merit badges and it appears they were well run. There was a lack of respect toward the American Flag on Friday and the camp staff did not handle this properly! Not only was the flag not folded properly one troop decided to play a "prank" during the retreat. This issue should have been addressed immediately by the camp staff, while everyone was still in formation and that troop should have had repercussions for their actions. Although the boys had a good time, we will be looking elsewhere for a camp next year. The merit badge progam seemed good and plentiful, but the staff needs to work on how to build a sense of pride and respect with the scout uniform (shirts buttoned and tucked) and with the American flag. If we do not hold our scouts to a standard then we are letting the Boy Scout organization down. RID: 33137
Click to report rating    6/20/09   3     2     4     3     3   The camp was ok. Pretty much a merit badge factory. A virus went through the camp the year I went there, and I got sick. The camp was dismissed early. Don't go on the Chesapeake Bay Adventure. It sucks. However on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give the science program a 10 and on the same scale, I'd give the food at 42. RID: 30163
3/11/08   4     3     4     4     3   The camp lied about a virus going around and didn't sanitize properly for my session. We were dismissed early with no refund and I didnt complete some badges. RID: 21159
Click to report rating    3/11/08   5     5     5     5     5   This camp has been around and threw it all in the past few years but still always has the Campers in mind and will always go the extra mile just to put a smile on your face. One thing we see at this camp but at no other camp is that the staff are always saying Please, Thank-You, Yes Sir, Hello and a lot of the staff take time to learn the names of the scouts, This camps COPE program is well run and you can tell that the camp is great because it's already Full for this summer. I highly recommend this camp for all scout troops Across the land...Camp Staff to look for are Dave Fischer, David Senior, Joe Naylor, Jeff Menacker, Mike Kramer, Dan Rowley, Terry Robinson, Dave Smith, Nick Gram to name a few. As you can tell THIS CAMP is the best camp I have ever been too it out ranks several High Adventure camps I have attended. RID: 21145
Click to report rating    12/4/07   5     5     5     5     5   The best camp ever! At OSR they do a great job of keeping you active and keep you on track for earning you badges. They also offer unique events such as rock climbing on a real rock wall, scuba diving, COPE, and even mountan boarding. The staff is more than exceptional with aiding new scouts and teaching merit badge classes. The Air conditioned chow hall is one of the best parts of your experence but all restrooms are outside. Also the youth shower house isn't partitioned these though are the only flaws. RID: 17691
Click to report rating    9/13/07   5     4     5     5     5   Ockanickon has great staff and Merit Badge items for Boy Scouts. They employ both male and female staff. Staff stay in facilities, and CIT's don't have to pay to get in. If you are a Boy Scout, come on down to this Scout Reservation for a week: You'll see what I'm talking about. RID: 15248
