Click to report rating    8/9/17   3     4     3     2     2   I had such high hopes for this camp based on other reviews. Maybe those kids were in sports camps? My son did the 1 week overnight camp. There were so few students there that in any given class there were only one to five students. This may seem good from an academic standpoint, but it was not good from an overall social and college experience perspective. We were not happy with lack of communication between central and the onsite staff. Many classes are taught by high school teachers off for the summer. Really, we could get that anywhere. I would not recommend this program. RID: 51205
Click to report rating    4/22/17   2     4     3     2     3   This camp is pretty average, but the tennis program is DREADFUL. Tennis instructors spoke little English and failed to teach how to hit with top-spin. Their serving "strategy" was a joke and could cause injuries. The summer camp counselors usually had attitudes and failed to get a connection with campers. The bus is driven by Julian Krinsky and it is actually dangerous with loud music and everyone standing up. The dining staff is rude and one physically hurt me. The camp is overpriced. The kids here are okay. A few got kicked out including one kid who beat up a counselor and two campers. They take trips, but one counselor took us in a bad part of New York. On the trips we never even saw cool sites, just went shopping or eating. Al the basketball coach was the only positive thing. They let kids use phones, but everyone stops socializing. I highly recommend you don't do the tennis, but the other activities are fine. RID: 50653
Click to report rating    1/14/15   5     5     4     5     4   Very Pricey, but such an amazing experience. I went two summers ago, and spent three weeks on the UPENN campus. I was in the internship program, and everyday, I was bused to a hospital about 30 minutes away. I cannot express how amazing this experience was, I worked in the NICU, and was able to observe procedures and surgery, as well as do hands on witht he babies. The camp could not have been better, great staff, good food, fabulous weekend trips, and friends for a lifetime. Yes, this camp is a bit pricey, but it is worth it because everything is paid for; food, trips, transportation, supervision, and a great time. I highly recommend this camp to everyone. RID: 48291

Click to report rating    2/9/13   1     1     1     1     1   Save your money and your summer. The camp is way to big abd run like a factory. No educational mission for kids. No supervision, international staff who don't speak much English and owners who are in it for the $$$$$. RID: 43627
Click to report rating    8/13/12   4     5     5     4     4   This is camp is NOT as bad as everybody is making it sound. The facilities are fantastic and the food is actually pretty decent (this coming from an EXTREMELY picky eater). It was also healthy unless you didn't like what was being served, in which case you were left with pizza and French fries. Some staff are wonderful but some are awful. The counselors for the dorms were all strict with the rules but they weren't harsh rules. The counselors for the activities are AWESOME! So funny and most give tons of attention. Evening activities are probably the highlight of this camp. There's clue night, counselor hunt, dances, and sooooo much more. They are the BEST. And if you win you get to go to wawa! The bus ride driven by JK himself is actually really fun since they take you to an ice cream place. The weekend trips are fun but not very organized. We had dinner at Starbucks, for example. Just don't go for the lastbsession because they run out of art supplies and such. RID: 42358
Click to report rating    7/21/12   1     1     3     1     1   I can kick myself for the rest of my life for sending my 12 year old girl into the depths of hell. There was no supervision, my child was bullied physically in front of the "chef" in cooking, who did nothing. The counselors let the kids dance and scream outside during a lightening storm, iPads, iPods and cash were stolen out of their locked rooms. THey took a speeding bus ride in the rain at night, while the counselor got everyone to dance and scream in the aisles. Julian Krinsky himself was the bus driver. No one there answers any phones. Need I go on?? This place should be shut down. RID: 42017

8/3/10   3     3     1     1     1   VERY disappointed with the Middle School Exploration program at Bryn Mar campus. Activities not professionally organized, no exercise, staff played video games in the AC most of the free time. Food very unhealthy. Weekend activities not as advertised. Very, very expensive for what it is and not worth it. Very unresponsive to complaints. Big marketing ploy in my opinion. RID: 33601

7/27/10   1     1     1     1     1   JK Camp is poorly managed and would work for your child if they dont require structure and want independance. The facilities are sub par and the camper experience is underwhelming. RID: 33508

1/31/09   5     5     5     4     5   daughter went to canyon ranch spa camp. She really liked it. She learned some great life skills, like eating well, cooking well and new exercise experience. She is not Jappy at all. She is very thin but became more fit at camp and lost a few pounds. I was very impressed with the attention to details at the camp. Much better than she or I thought it would be. She definitely ate well there and came home wanting to eat the "right things." They really stressed healthy lifestyle. Not a bad thing for a teenage girl to learn. I recommend this camp RID: 28784
Click to report rating    7/5/08   5     5     5     5     5   Canyon Ranch was the best camp I have ever attended. I've been to other camps and this is the only camp from which I was sad to leave! The campers and staff are so incredibly sweet and the counselors really care about you! The activities and trips are awesome! I cannot say enough good things about Canyon Ranch! Julian really knows how to run a camp! For all the people that saw Canyon Ranch from a distance and that are making assumptions because of the name: it's not a spa camp, and neither the people nor the program is 'jappy!' I had an amazing summer here and I really want to go back! RID: 24597
Click to report rating    3/25/08   3     4     5     4     5   I attended, Julian Krinsky Model UN, it was a great camp if you enjoy IR and Politics, like me. However, there were many who were oblivious to world events and had no idea what Model UN is (Model United Nations.) Some signed up to meet the foreign students who attended others because it was at UPenn. It was worth the money in some respects however the dorms at UPenn as at any ivy league school are horrible. The activities were awesome I saw 3 Broadway plays, went paint-balling, visited NYC 5 times, visited 2 embassies (Jordan and Israel,) visited America's Task Force on Palestine, met the Turks and Cakos consulate, visited the UN building, heard a series of prominent speakers and had the coolest crisis committee. The staff were decent, Merril, the head person was awesome. Harrison, a UPenn student never showed up. James and Kaitlin were so cool and helpful. Kelly was way too conservative and libertarian for her own good. There was a good ratio of maybe 7:1. WIsh i could go again! RID: 21639
Click to report rating    3/5/08   4     4     2     3     1   I did not attend Canyon Ranch, but I did attend a study program at Bryn Mawr during the summer, while Canyon Ranch was there. It is basically spa camp. At least the kids I saw from the program, while walking around campus, appeared very Jappy, and the program basically pampered them. They would do light yoga on the green and that type of stuff. Also, instead of eating in the campus dining halls, they ate at the Bryn Mawr Inn, which is the fancy expensive restaurant on campus. Trust me, while not amazing, the summer campus food was enough to sustain anybody. Personally, I think that this type of summer experience is totally frivolous, and if there is really nothing better your kids can do than do yoga, get massages, and eat fine dining 3 meals a day, then make them get a job. Otherwise, look into better summer programs that are more beneficial to your child. RID: 20960
Click to report rating    2/24/08   5     5     4     4     5   Fantastic camp!!! The trips are awesome, the counselors are nice, and the facilities are clean and well-kept. The only complaint I would have is doing the same thing every day could get kind of boring. RID: 20654
Click to report rating    9/11/07   5     5     5     5     5   I've gone to many camps, and i can assure you Julian Krinsky the greatest. It has a very good social scene, kids from all around the world come to Julian Krinsky. Through the Tennis Practices you do improve, and you have the time of your life while you are at it. Every night you would go off campus and have funn at the malls, movies. Almost the whole camp was Jewish. It was a very warm comfortable, and exciting environment, and if you are looking foward to an amazing summer I would reccomend going here! You never feel like you are stuck on campus, like you are stuck at a camp. this is a camp that gives you independence, great results and skills you can use in your future, great activities, superb staff, friends that will be there for you and last a lifetime, and an outstanding summer! Click to report rating    8/16/07   5     5     5     5     5   Best tennis camp my kids have been to. We tried Evert's, Bolliteri's and Saddlebrook past 3 summers and JKST is the best we have seen. We are going to send all our friends there as well. RID: 14044
Click to report rating    8/16/07   5     5     5     5     5   A great camp! I have been coming for years and I will keep on coming back. The staff are friendly and I make loads of awesome new friends every year. RID: 14043

Click to report rating    4/6/07   5     5     5     5     5   i went to cabrini, canyon ranch and now haverford.. no matter what ppl say, the camp itself might be japy but the ppl arent!! i love my friends.. they are amazing and i love them more than anything.. the tennis is great too and julian is the best camp director ever.. i mean.. i went to another traditional camp and it sucked.. i went to krinsky and its amazing! just what i was looking for.. i definetely look forward to my summers and my friends and the trips, tennis programs, counslers, and everything else!! believe me, i did the whole traditional camp, stuck-up girl thing.. i hated it!! i went to krinsky and even though there are nice facilities and trips, the ppl are the sweetest, most outgoing, entertaining, and fun to be around (and caring) ppl i have ever met in my life!! I love julian krinsky and his camps!!! RID: 9472
Click to report rating    9/16/06   5     5     5     5     5   Awesome experience in the music program. Haha, I was on the floor that smelled like burnt popcorn for 3 days. The microwave was right near my room, too... RID: 3208
Click to report rating    5/23/06   4     5     4     3     4   I loved this camp mostly because i made so many friends, and good memories. Like the time the fire alarm went off because someone burnt a bag of popcorn, and I had just gotten out of the shower. RID: 412
