Click to report rating    7/20/19   5     5     5     5     5   I sent my 2 sons to this camp in 2017. They LOVED it and we were happy with every aspect of the camp. The made great friends, and loved the counselors. The facilities were fantastic and there was no shortage of engaging activities. They particularly loved the lake and the banana boat. They also tried activities they would not typically have tried like cooking and gymnastic. They played all the sports and took fun overnight trips. The communication with the camp was easy and responsive. I highly recommend this camp based on my sons rave reviews and our experience with it. RID: 52753
Click to report rating    1/28/18   5     5     5     5     5   Our two children, ages 8 and 11, went to Chestnut LAke for the first time in the summer of ‘17. The absolutely loved their time there. When they returned after a three-week (2nd 1/2 of summer) stinit, they were raving about their experiences. Not only did they try tons of new activities and make great new friends, we really felt that their social and emotional maturity was well cared for as well. They will both be returning this year. In fact, they begged us to be able to go for the enitre summer session! That is a true testament to this amazing camp. WE love it. RID: 51608
Click to report rating    8/12/16   4     5     5     5     5   This summer was my 6th year going to chestnut lake. I ended up going to chestnut lake camp after chickening out of trails ends 7 weeks (when I went CLC was 3 or 6), and I'm so happy I did. While I could have transferred to TEC after my first year at CLC when I realized 7 weeks was not that bad, I stayed because after just one summer I had already grown so attached to CLC. Chestnut lake is a great place because of the environment. Since it's a small camp, everyone knows everyone. The councelors are wonderful and you really form bonds with the ones that come back. The bunks are especially great because they are spacious and they dont get very hot.The campers at chestnut lake are down-to-earth and are all great people. Its hard to believe that just 7 years ago I knew no one in my division, and now they are the 52 sisters I never had. I am crying writing this because unfortunately this was my last summer at CLC but thankfully it was the best one! Send your kids here, they will be so happy. RID: 49939

1/20/15   5     5     5     5     5   We couldn't be happier that we chose Chestnut Lake for our children. While they both have different interests, they both came back raving about their summer. My husband and I get the biggest kick out of their "camp" stories. My husband didn't go to camp growing up and was extremely anxious about the whole experience. Debbi and Paul were great through the whole process. When we went on our tour, it was amazing to see how many campers came running up to say hi to Debbi and Paul. They knew each and every camper which is a big reason we chose Chestnut Lake. Our daughter was very nervous to start a new camp in 6th grade, but she absolutely loved the girls in her bunk and now can't wait to see them again. We are very thankful that we chose Chestnut Lake and want to thank Debbi and Paul for providing our children with a summer home. RID: 48308

Click to report rating    7/18/13   5     5     5     5     5   CLC is a wonderful camp. My daughter made great friends there and she wants to go back next year. The kids (and families)are down-to-earth. When I asked her about the camp, she said that the girls were nice. Debbi and Paul are very professional and kind. A fantastic place to send your kids for 3 or 6 weeks!!! RID: 45235
Click to report rating    7/2/13   5     5     5     5     5   This is my sons 3rd year, for the first 2 everything was great, this year surprisingly my son got homesick. The extra special care and attention my son received was worth every penny I spent on this camp. The benefit of a smaller camp is they really know your child, and they really knew my son. they did all the special activities he liked and made us feel comfortable he was being taken care of with phone calls to update us. My daughter goes to a larger camp and we would never receive this type of attention anywhere else. Additionally Paul is 1st class the way he knows all the campers by first name and they all love him. All I can say is you will not go wrong sending your kids here, it really is a great summer program!!!! RID: 44970

I went to sleepaway camp and I loved the feeling of walking to a canteen to talk and hang with friends, play games, and eat CANDY! lol I love the staff and outstanding new facilities, I really think the camp would benefit from having a canteen building. Click to report rating    1/6/13   4     5     5     5     3   Very expensive but worth it. They put their hearts and soul into everything for the children. Bunks are lovely, grounds beautiful and the food is both healthy and varied and most plentiful. They treat the children with love and firmness and the kids gain a lot of confidence and come back very satisfied with a great time at camp. RID: 43335
Click to report rating    8/17/11   5     5     5     5     5   Unbelievable camp. Brand new facilities, big bright and clean bunks, wonderful food, the MOST caring staff a camp could have, Paul and Debbi (the directors) are the most amazing people you will ever meet. My child fell in love with the camp instantaneously. It's not about who wins or loses here. Every camper is encouraged to cheer the next one on regardless of ability. If you want your child to have the summer of their life, send them here.....to Chestnut Lake. They come home a totally different person. Already looking forward to CLC 2012!!!! RID: 36747
Click to report rating    6/30/11   5     5     5     5     5   AMAZING camp! The Directors are fabulous - very attentive and caring. Great facilities and fun activities! RID: 36250
Click to report rating    5/24/11   5     5     5     5     5   Chestnut Lake has really brought out the best in my daughter. Before going to this camp she was very shy and lacked confidence, however after attending a six week session there in 2008,she became much more independant and even ran for president of the school the following year and won. The morals they teach at the camp makes it worth every cent. Now she will be returning for her fourth year as a six week camper yet again. The staff are wonderful people who are easy to talk to and put in their best effort to connect with each camper. Paul and Debbi are also two of the kindest people I have ever met. As a parent, knowing how close they are with their children makes me even more assured of Paul and Debbi's credibility towards directors of the camp. Overall, if your child is open to trying new things, meeting amazing people, and learning to be better people, then without out a doubt you should enroll your child ASAP.The only flaw with camp is hearing your child whine when they are not there. Click to report rating    1/16/11   5     5     5     5     5   AMAZING CAMP!! It is clean and beautiful and has wonderful facilities. Bunks are big and really nice. The director (Paul) is the best. My son did 3 weeks and will do 6 this summer. My younger son is going too. Your children will be well taken care of and the communication between camp and parents is outstanding. RID: 34857
Click to report rating    1/5/11   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter loves this camp! The facilities and counselors are top-notch. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for her. RID: 34684
Click to report rating    10/28/10   5     5     4     5     5   My daughter was wishy-washy about going to sleep away camp. She went to CLC for the first time in the summer of 2010. She had a REALLY difficult time with homesickness; however, when she came home in August, she was so enthusiastic about going back for summer 2011 that I knew it really was the right place for her. The staff and the counselors, as well as her fellow campers made the experience so wonderful, that she is already counting the days until next summer. The activity level was fairly low-key, which was perfect for her. CLC allowed her to be herself, and encouraged her to try all kinds of new things - some she liked and some she didnt - but isnt that what camp is for? I am BEYOND pleased with her/our experience with CLC. We are so glad to be a part of their family. RID: 34329
Click to report rating    8/29/09   5     5     5     5     5   I loved going to chestnut lake this past summer. I never thought i would love a place so much. None of the campers were mean at all and they welcomed me into the Chestnut Lake family right away. Rhonda and all of the division leaders are very warm and comforting, as well as the counselors. I will definitely go back next year to enjoy the fun activities and see my friends. WAKANDA (WAQUANDA) IS AWESOME! RID: 30866
