Boys club culture that you're in or out. Extracurricular activity of the staff is disturbing- don't put your children under this care.

My son came home with a severe post traumatic stress disorder after being beaten at this camp. He was 9 years old. He and his cabin mates were forced to live in urine soaked cabin, being beaten by other cabin mates, and were not protected like they should have been. And the 3 unmanageable perpetrators were not asked to leave... they were allowed to stay, even with the daily multiple complaints.

I spent five summers here as a camper and a counselor and I loved every minute of it. I made some of my best friends, had some of the most fun times of my life, and learned a lot here. The camp is small and everyone become extremely close to each other by the end of the summer. There's not other experience like it. The location on Trout Lake is beautiful. The longtime staff like Bob, Sue, Fred and Dave are extremely dedicated to the camp and to their dedication is contagious. If you have a chance to go to RAC, go!

This will be my 8th summer at rac as a camper and i this will be my last year. But afterwords i will work there as a cookie and a counselor as long as i can because this is the best place in the world and if you have never been there you need to go even just to see it. The people who wrote the bad comments obviously don't know what they are talking about or have never even been there. Like i said this place is the experience of a life time and i will always keep the friends that i have made there and cherish the memories for the rest of my life.

this is by far the best way to spend the summer. i went here for three years and couldn't go last year because of football and regret not going. my summers will never match the ones i spent in the northwoods with the friends i made there. the coulselors and food are great and after a week you feel like your at home. i wish i could go back and enjoy the great summers all over again.

this camp was the best choice of my whole life, i would suggest it to anyone i know, and while you read these reviews, i believe the negative ones rated with 1's and 3's are extremely misleading, as only the most negative and pessimistic people would write this information. I have been a camper from 2008 to 2009, i plan to go back for 2010 and 2011 as a camper, then join the staff every summer possible as long as they accept me. much of my family has gone to this camp and experienced what i am for generations. this is my honest opinion and i strongly suggest this camp.

In the late '70s early '80s, I was a camper at RAC for three years and stableboy for one, and I can honestly say those were four of the best summers I have ever had. Bob and Sue really care that their campers would have a good time, and bend over backwards to make sure the staff and counsellors are the best in the country. Trout Lake is incredibly beautiful, the activities are first rate, and the experience is unmatched. I unconditionally recommend this camp.

I attended as one of the older campers and even though this was my first year I had no problems making friends and feeling part of the group. Counselors were pretty fun, knew a lot about the sports and activities they taught. We were kept us very busy and feel asleep really fast at night. Camp is on a great lake with lots of water stuff to do. Food was really good. Didn't care for the bathrooms - they were old. Our group had to sing in the choir but even that wasn't bad. Really recommend it but I would suggest starting earlier so you can go for 3 or 4 years, it is that much fun and you learn a lot about yourself.

I spent six years as a camper(87-92). Without question those were some of the greatest weeks of my life. More than fifteen years later I still keep in contact with friends whom I met there. I can't speak highly enough about my experiences there. One of their mottoes is, "Don't wait to be a great man, be a great boy." But in being that "great boy" I was really also learning how to become a great man. Whether you're a parent or a potential camper, look no further. It's fun. It's challenging. It's my favorite place.

First class program in the heart of the Wisconsin north woods. Tradition, honor, morality, sportsmanship and friendship are all taught here on a daily basis. The former logging cabins provide a rustic home to the boys for 7 weeks. Cabins are grouped by age with each cabin featuring two counselors. The boys receive personal attention from their counselors and the instructors at their daily events. Special weekend events and trips provide the spice to the sports and hobby sessions held 6 out of seven days. Set on majestic Trout Lake, Red Arrow has been a gem for decades.

I was a seven year camper and four year counselor at RAC starting in the 90s. I look back at my years there and realize that no other experience in my life has had the impact that RAC has. I would be ashamed to know the future me had I not gone to camp. The values that the exceptional staff impart, the tripping experiences in northern Wisconsin, Michigan and even Canada, and the friendships that I made continue to influence my life today. A true testament to RAC's quality is the amount of second, third, and even fourth generation campers there. You can do no better than to send your child to RAC.

My father attended RAC in the 1930's, and when I first attended in the late 1960's one of the same instructors was still there teaching. I attended for 7 years and found that the memories and experiences are still with me. I feel that many of the lessons I learned years ago formed who I am today. I go back and visit each year, and find many of the same people from my time 40 years ago still working there. That kind of loyalty and dedication speaks volumes about RAC and the owners, Bob and Sue. They still teach the same family and faith oriented values they taught 40 years ago. Yes, there is a degree of competition, but it is done to push the campers to give their all and do the very best they can do. RAC is the only camp I would ever send my sons to.

My 3 summers(going back this year) at red arrow have been amazing!!! I think bob and sue are amazing people. The activities are great and the counselors are cool and non-judgemental but of corse it takes time to get to know people. This is the only place where I can do stuff that I cant do in FL. I completely recammend this camp. Red Arrow Rocks. And of corse the people who've been there for years might in fact be popular/well known. This camp is awesome!!!

Looking back, its really amazing how the things I learned to enjoy at RAC as a boy are the same things that I continue to enjoy today. Im sure its as great a place now as it was for me from 1968-1971. If you are a parent debating where to send your son, send him to Red Arrow Camp. He will absolutely love it. George Peterson.

I went to this camp for four summers and consider it the greatest experience of my life. The people on this website that say it is competative should realize there are many areas you can excel at. If you are not good in team sports you can excel in rifle, waterskiing, sailing and the like. Bob and Sue are some of the greatest people to shape a childs life. I returned as a counselor to make sure other kids had the same experience I did. Bob and Sue have done a great job in recent years making sure they get good people as counselors.

My 6 years as a camper at RAC still shape who I am today, 20 years past my camp experience ('79-'84). I frequently reflect on many facets of my RAC experience: the values instilled, the Northwoods, Bob and Sue, Isle Royale, "We are Clean," and the sad but beautiful sound of "Big Campfire" on the last day of camp! You Rah, Rah, RAC, You Rah Rah, RAC!!!

Red Arrow Camp changed my life. I went when I was 12, wining the whole way. Soon after the first week or two I slowly began to enjoy my experience. I became active in rifelry, archery, photograpy, basket ball, lacrosse, and water skiing. I even became an experience sailor! What an expericence. I am so gratefull for the great atmosphere and wonderfull opurtunities. If you can go, go. You won't regret it. P.S. Chris Farely and his brothers were campers and counselors there. Enjoy RAC!

Red Arrow was easily the best 8 summers of my life. If you have a chance to attend this camp then definitely go!! I learned to do so many new things and succeeded in many new ventures. I still find myself thinking back every summer as to what I would be doing if I was at camp instead of at work. As a counselor at camp although we worked extremely hard I never considered it a job. With now having kids of my own I am greatly looking forward to the time when my boys will be able to attend Red Arrow as campers. Red Arrow has built so many great men and boys because they truly care about their future!!

I went to Red Arrow, in the early 70's for three years and it was a fantasic experience. I learned to water ski, sail, shoot, ride, swim, canoe, camp and so much more. The traditions at this camp are wonderful; I learned a lot about life, team work and trying new things. I am thankful that my parents had the wisdom to send me there. I would reccomend RAC to any young boy 100%.

I'm biased - - I spent 5 summers as a camper and 6 summers working at Red Arrow. I learned and grew each year. I hope I helped others do the same. I had successes and failures. After each failure, however, with the help of friends and counselors I was encouraged to try again until I successed. I formed freindships of a life time starting at 11 yrs old that still remain. Each year Bob and Sue (camp owners/directors) seek to add new and challenging activities. Camp instills values of honor, team work, hard work, and of demanding the best of yourself. The Chapel services are moving, motivational and spiritual - - one of the best parts of camp. The highest award at camp is the Friendship Cup. Its dedication gives a sense of the values by defining a "True Friend". It ends essentailly with "Don't forget to thank God for a True Friend". As one of my "True Friend's" from camp says: "You can take the boy out of Red Arrow but you can't take Red Arrow out of the Man". If you can go, do so.

I went here in the 90s, and although I didn't like it at the time, due to various external circumstances that the camp could not have helped, it really impacted me later on. Here, I learned to not sit back and watch life go by. I learned to be independent and resourceful. In short, I learned that I could do whatever it is that I wanted to do. In spite of RAC, my athletic abilities are still limited, but because of RAC, I take chances in my professional and academic life that my peers would have never taken. It's safe to say that although RAC didn't directly build my confidence, which many claim it did for them, it gave me the ability to build my confidence down the line. Also, the outdoor component is great. Who knew that the kid that HATED hiking trips at the age of 10 would fall in love with hiking in Asia 10 years later? I thank RAC for the skill set that allowed me to do that. If there was a model of what a camp should be, this very well could be it.

What makes RAC special is the decades of traditions that are passed along to each camper every year. This has produced boys - and ultimately men - that have strong values, ethics, and competitiveness. Its very rare for a camp to produce so consistently individuals with such deep character.

This was by far the best summer experience a boy could have! I don't think the guy who put that the staff wasn't attentive knew what he was talking about....the ratio of 8 kids for 2 counselors speaks for itself. Most public camps - like YMCA camps have less staff per cabin.I think the fact that so many kids return and staff returns also speaks for what a good experience this is! So many boys' Dads also attended. If it wasn't great you wouldn't send your son. Also, most counselors were campers at one point. Yes it is competitive sportswise but, hey, that's sports!!!! Most kids really improve in athletics over the summer instead of sitting around on the computer or watching TV. GO TO RAC!

I went to Red Arrow about 1962 to 1966 that awoke an appreciation of activities that I still enjoy today. And, it looks like you have added several more that weren't available back then. I will never forget the canoe trip up into Canada where I learned to eat fish that was so fresh that it was still floping around in the pan. And how wonderful to learn to paddle a canoe all by myself, and ride a horse and shoot a rifle and even learn the difference between an oak leaf and a maple leaf. (Well, maybe I didn't think it was that wonderful back then.) Keep up the good work! And maybe I will be able to stop by this summer when we will be in the area.

I attended Red Arrow during the summers of 1995-1997. My father encouraged me to go and I reluctantly agreed, as none of my friends were going to Red Arrow. My first 2 weeks of that summer I was homesick. I wrote my Dad, telling him I wanted to come home. My attitude quickly changed. On the last day of camp, my Dad came to pick me up, and was utterly shocked. I was trying to hold back tears as I didn't want to leave! Once I got home I couldn't wait for the next summer. Looking back I clearly see how much I gained from my 3 summers at RAC. I left RAC with a better attitude, a positive mindset, great memories, friends, and a new found self esteem. The staff is superb, and they motivated (not forced) me towards achieving my goals. At my time at RAC I went from being lost 60 pounds overweight to normal for my age/height. I can not say enough good things the staff at RAC. Bob and Sue Krohn are wonderful people, who genuinely care about their campers. I can't recomend RAC enough!

The best 5 summers of my life. I wouldn't trade my time there for anything. At RAC you get the true, Northwoods, old-fashioned summer camp experience. No interference from ipods and laptops and soda machines. Just the lake and the stars and the most amazing people on earth. The only downside is having to leave.

I have spent six years at Red Arrow as both a camper and a counselor. No where else in my life have I found a place that teaches a person (young and old)the value of teamwork. At RAC I learned that I can accomplish so much more with the help friends and family. But the most important lesson that I have learned is that I am a person that people can count on to make the right decisions. That is something that is hard for people to learn at school or at work and I am forever greatful.

Guys come from all over the world to spend the summer learn new sports skill, going on trips, and most importantly, building real friendships that last for the rest of their lives.
