Click to report rating    4/15/19   1     1     1     1     1   It was the worst experience ever. From the very, very rude and high and mighty Ms. Leigh, who was ugly to my child on more than a few occasions, to an odd incident where I fell down one of the dangerous loft ladders, and managed to completely get knocked out cold. Not one word was was said to me until the next morning when (I'm sure I looked disheveled) I took longer than 3 minutes due to excruciating pain to get dressed, and she informed me she was not letting me leave, that my husband had to pick me up. From 5 hours away. No way lady. I told her as much, and headed back to try and find my keys with my daughters help, and she called her buddy's the EMTS (who she greeted with a hug) and local sherriff deputy. It was unbelievable. Not to mention everyone else's testimony about conditions where we were staying and treatment. Buyer beware. RID: 52570
Click to report rating    7/21/13   1     1     1     1     1   Horrible experience. We left two days early and were too intimidated to even tell the owner, Leigh, about how terribly we felt. My daughter summed it up with "Mommy, I was crying because of the lady, not because of the horse." The family that runs the camp were screaming at each other, cursing and crying right on the other side of our quarters. All 8 campers sleep in one room, with the same bunks and foam pads that the state parks use, and share one toilet. The food is cheap and salty. The instruction is entirely about what you're doing wrong. It was terrible to watch them talk so harshly to my children. One daughter nearly hyperventilated and I was stuck on a horse and couldn't go help her. For people new to horses or expecting any instruction at all, this is NOT the camp for you. We sat in the hot sum and waiting while each person was individually berated. RID: 45289

6/23/13   1     1     1     1     1   I was there as an intern on June 8th. I was going to stay for 2 months then go to Wyoming to help there as well. After lasting one miserable week I had to leave. The owner treated me like a slave, even one of the guests asked me if I was doing ok because she could tell I was being treated badly. The place is perfect for people who don't know anything about horses and who don't mind hearing a rude owner/operator yell at her daughters and cuss and carry on like no one can hear them. Before I left I made sure to tell Leigh, the owner, that if I had my daughter there and she spoke to her the way she spoke to the little girls while they were on horseback, I would have left immediately! I was so uncomfortable, between being ignored and not feeling welcome! I just pray she learns how to treat people. I'm all about women having their own business, however I also am all about the general public knowing some facts before they waste money. Love Bandera, I met some very nice Texans!! Shopping!      9/6/12   1     1     1     1     1   Horrific experience. The staff was incredibly rude to me and to my daughter. They are not welcoming at all. There is no "ranch" just a corral so you don't get to see the "great outdoors" at all. Food was horrible. They needed babysitters for their daughters that spend the summer there and this is how they get that done and get paid for it. Don't go...save your money and go to a real ranch. They make fun of former guests and are very unfriendly. Terrible terrible experience. RID: 42599
Click to report rating    11/23/11   1     1     1     1     1   Buyer Beware. Very small setup to be considered a ranch. Only riding done is in a very small corral with very old horses. It's expensive to boot and there were no other campers when we went. Staff was rude and I saw them make a young girl who was interning for them break down and cry and I mean cry. So very sad. These people are shady ask many questions before booking because they have a FIRM no giving your money back if you don't like it when you get there. There is a reason for that. Ps you don't just take care of your horse when you stay. You take care of all the horses and there won't be very many campers to help if any. Good luck RID: 37337
Click to report rating    11/6/07   5     5     5     5     5   This is a mother/daughter horse camp and was the most amazing experience. They are so great with the kids and give you a lot of individual attention. RID: 16823
