My kids had a good time the first year but complained about the counselors being mean. The second year they complained more and this years all three kids refused to go back!

Wavus is the most amazing, special and beautiful place to me in the world. It is where I found my sisters who I love the most, I was brought to another world of no expectations of being perfect, a girl who wears cool clothes and makeup. None of that is here.It is what being a real girl and person is; themselves. When not surrounded by technology and these expectations, Wavus showed me who I was and really am. I have become a real, pure girl. I have also discovered the most amazing place in the whole world with my best friends (sisters); the wilderness. We go on this trips that have become the most incredible life changing thing in my life. You find yourself, you experience the real world with the people you love, and you are away from reality of problems you may have at home. I cannot believe it, but I will be returning for my 7th year with my same sisters I met day 1. We are going on a 17-day canoe trip and then finally, a 22 day trip on the Appalachian trial. This is my home and life

I love Wavus! I have been going for 4 years now and I am super close with all of my friends that I have met over the years, I know that these friends will last a lifetime. Coming from a camper Wavus is what I look forward to in the summer and is so welcoming and nice to all! I cannot wait for Wav this summer!!

This camp is AMAZING. You will fall in love with everything about it. The councelors are very nice and goofy and the campers are like that as well. However if you don't like hiking and camping this might not be the place for you. The cabins are great. The dining hall is also very nice. The food is delicious. There is a really good ropes course and the tennis courts are good too. You won't get bored with the activities at all. They have very creative and original ideas for activities such as, slip and slide, paddle boarding, their zip line over water, arts and crafts, and so many more. They even have cozy options for rainy and icky days like, fort building in the dining hall, cooking, art, s'mores making, board games, book reading, learning to make fires, puddle jumping, and more. You get great attention from the councelors and campers. Everyone is very friendly there. I'm not sure what monetary value means. There are very good values to be taken away from the camp, like women power. ?

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! I fell in love with Wavus. My first time there, I had just experienced two summers at a poor sleep away camp. I noticed extreme differences. I absolutely loved Wavus. It's on the expensive side, but you're really getting something for your money. I would definitely recommend Wavus (3.5 weeks for older girls, 10 days for younger) I'm sure Kieve is a similar experience for boys.

I will be returning to Wavus for my sixth year this summer. I went my first year when i was seven, and my family debated wether I should go to the junior session or the three and a half week session. I ended up going for the longer session. I never regretted it. Wavus is the place that i love the most. I can be myself at Wavus and that is because it is a very open place. The counselors make that possible by being crazy, it is a crazy place. And the trips are wonderful experiences. They push you while binding with your cabin mates and counselors. I talk to my cabin mates everyday. Wavus has changed my life and has taught me to be outgoing and respectful.

We sent our daughter, age 8, to Wavus for the Jr. session, and we could not have been more pleased. The staff, particularly her counselors, were fantastic. They demonstrated patience, kindness, understanding, warmth, and most of all genuine love for our daughter and all her cabin mates. Each was a wonderful role model, and our daughter misses them dearly. With a camper/counselor ratio of nearly 2:1, the attention and care she received could not be beat. The facilities are fantastic and the location is like a picture post card. Wavus challenged our daughter to try new and, for her, difficult tasks like the ropes course, and she is very proud of her accomplishments. She's standing a little taller back at home. Wavus takes seriously its mission of building character in the girls and instilling values of responsibility, respect, kindness, and courage. For Wavus, that is more than a slogan for the camp's logo.

This is our 5th year at Wavus, a wilderness tripping camp in Maine. My daughter loves it here, has made friends from all over the world, and says it is her "happy place." She started here as a Jr. Wavus at age 9 and now she is 12. This is great alternative to an all summer camp. The children spend a great deal of time in the wilderness on trips appropriate to their age and stage. The camp is meant to encourage risk taking and team work, and I think their approach works. There are many campers who return every year, and the girls make lasting friendships. They are close to their counselors, most of whom attend excellent colleges all over the country. While on site, the activities are varied -- camp rituals, the arts, a terrific ropes course, swimming, canoeing, sports and hanging out with friends. The facility is gorgeous. There are lots of dogs running around. The girls are very comfortable and the environment is relaxed and friendly.

i am embarrassed by and scared of the person i would be if i hadn't grown up at wavus. i'll be going back for my eighth year and my counselors, especially this last year, are who i want to be when i grow up. I admit that in the past it was not managed as well as it was in 2011, but under new leadership, its amazing. best experience of my life. I've made my best friends here and its taught me more than school ever will.

When I began at Wavus I was extremely excited to try a sleepaway camp for the first time although, my expectations were definately not met that summer.First off I have never met a group of more unprofessional people meant to be role models for young girls. They were innipropriate, strange, and down right mean. My cabin was seriously freaked out by our councelors. The facilities were wonderful and the lake was gorgeous. Personally I enjoyed all of the outdoor activities offered at Wavus, but I am a very sports orriented person and there was not a lot of opportunities to play competitively.Wavus could be great if the staff was more experienced. Thanks for trying!

I have sent my daughter here for three years now. She loves this camp and it is a very good alternative to an 8 or 9 week summer camp. The facilities are very nice, the staff is very attentive to parents, and the activities are geared to develop a girl's self-confidence through experimentation, risk-taking, and teamwork. There are a variety of activities that encompass the arts, the outdoors, sports, and music. We were introduced to this camp through personal friends, one of whom attended Kieve as a boy. My daughter has definitely grown through her experience at Wavus in a myriad of positive ways. There are no perfect camps just like there are no perfect schools, but we have had a positive experience in every way and my daughter is going back for her third year in 2011. The camp is expensive, but the reward from my daughter's perspective is great. The camp is sited on a peninsula that juts into an enormous lake. There are numerous overnights and outings beyond the camp.

The camp is a wonderful place to send your daughters, however do not consider to become an employee here. They are super clicky, the directors get drunk every night and depend on the counselors do a horrible amount of work for the amount they get paid. They also offer no recognition for the staffs hard work, and if they do the director will talk behind your back. They try to teach young women core values and then they fail in every aspect to run a business with any values.

This sister camp of Kieve (boys camp) is a fantastic camp. The staff is phenomenal. I could never say enough great things about my child's counselor, Malory. I will definately send my daughter there again next summer. The kids are friendly and there are many fabulous activities offered by Wavus Camp and staff. Perfectly maintained camp with absolutely beautiful facilities. This experience was worth every penny we spent for the experience our daughter had there!
