Our troop has attended summer camp at FSR since day one with the exception of 2005-2007. 2008 we made a point in not only to go back, but to help make the camp better place for all. Many within the council felt the same way and with the dedication of many you can now clearly see dramatic improvements in the facilities and infrastructure, the staff and the Program. FSR is easy to get to, 15-20 mins from local towns and still provides a wilderness atmosphere all scouts need. Our 52+ acre Lake is as close to a hatchery as you can get. large and small mouth Bass, chain Pickerel, yellow perch and sunfish await your scouts. There is plenty of free time in the program so your scouts can enjoy what they like and a robust merit badge program. The management team a few years ago heard issues with the speed of the internet and fixed it by spending money to bring the fiber optics into the camp from miles away. Scouters, Parents, staff, and our tech center can now have high speed internet acc

Program was best summer camp program I have ever seen for summer camp. Wi-Fi is great for those leaders who need to connect. New campsite pavilions were great. Look forward to 2020 summer camp

This camp shows that it has put money and effort into the facility upgrades, new waterfront equipment, axe throwing yard a real hit, zip line and rope bridge over water challenged our younger scouts to leave their comfort zone, and tech center a real plus with a 3-D printer (made rockets our scouts launched). Our home council's camp could take some pointers from here. This camp gets high marks from our leaders. We too will keep Forestburg in our rotation.

Great camp, all should try it. Plenty to do for older and younger scouts. Also have separate adult activities. High Adventure opportunities and a great place to work. Waterfront is a lake with a lot of activities and great fishing.

Since my last stay at the camp; this camp has transformed its infrastructure, program and services to deliver a great program. I was very impressed with the commissary in addressing the variety of special dietary requirements of my Troop. Cards packed with each patrol’s daily provisions clearly indicated its contents, so I rested easier that I’d have less to worry about. I had my reservations on the number of Merit Badges offered – but came away satisfied on the quality standards they maintained. There was no shortage of open program activities, eleven in just the waterfront alone. Somehow this camp has kept it’s ‘wilderness’ camping qualities while meeting ‘new’ parent expectations; Wi-Fi, campsite pavilions – a real value added addition to my program especially during inclement weather as an in-site hard shelter. A refreshing experience after Yagoo (mill), Powhatan’s grossing overbooking programs,Rodney and we’ll leave it at that. We’ll keep Forestburg on our rotation for sure.

Camp has upgraded many features and programs over last 10 years. You have apace between campsites but its not hike to the group activities. Dual zipline is a blasted. Check it out

Attended as a youth in 1969-1976 and again as an adult with my 2 sons from 1998-2008. Recently went back in 2018 with nephew. Wow. Much higher attention to everything compared to early 2000's. Cleaner, brighter, no moss covered roofs, great rifle range yet still remained 'campy' enough as I remember as a youth. Speaking with admins they indicate a strong intention of maintaining higher standards than what they inherited. Would recommend.

Camp is best in class. Programs for everyone. Facilities are the best I have ever seen in a scout camp. Staff is extremely friendly and really goes out of their way for the scouts and scouts. They recently installed WIFI which permits adults that must stay connected to their work place to do so.

Great activities not found at many other Scout camps, such as a Monkey Bridge and zip lines across the lake. Great staff with a great attitude! Great WiFi in key locations. Choice of either Dining Hall foodservice, or cook your own food camping (food provided). Beautiful lake with excellent fishing!

Rapidly improving camp for Scouts BSA. Added great zip line, fiber high speed data link and WiFi (for Scoutbook entries by scouts, and work access by visiting adults) in past 2 years, and the new staff facilities built this year look outstanding. Camp counselors are all older scouts, and are very energetic. Most offered programs focus on getting younger scouts started with rank requirements or merit badges. My son has taken 12 merit badge classes over past 3 yrs; he enjoyed them all (ranking Lifesaving #1). They have a high adventure program suited for more advanced scouts. Waterfront has lots of fun options (large multi-kid battle inflatables, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, sailboats, etc). This camp is likely the only 1 left with a rope monkey bridge over lake. Food service made great meals the last 2 years. Camp has added some flush toilets; more may be on the way. Great experience overall for our scouts; went as a troop but lone scouts can go and will be linked to a troop.

Merit Badge Factory! My boys were bored and under challenged. Tech center is a joke... old crummy computers. Who come to camp to spend time on a computer anyway?

The staff was too young. Badges were given away even if boys did not show up for sessions, they did not check prerequsites. Counselors did not know specifics of badges they were responsible for. Most buildings are run down or "Rustic" as camp terms them. Boys who could barely draw an arrow back on a bow got the archery merit bafge. No fish were cought in camp all week, no cleaning and cooking of a fish, yet all boys received the fishing merit badge. The ranger there is never around, and when he is gives you an attitude when you tell him something else in the camp does not work. The camp director seems less concerned about the quality of the merit badges then the profits at the canteen.
