Click to report rating    8/27/08   5     4     4     4     4   I'm confused; I really liked McCormick! The staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. They DID have health checks at drop-of, they were careful about lice. My friend who was homesick said the counselor helped her a lot. The only bad thing was that one of three horse staff was angry and yelled a lot, but the rest of the counselors were AWESOME. I'd also like them to offer English horseback riding, since they only do Western, but that's just me. RID: 26135
Click to report rating    8/7/08   1     1     2     1     1   Ugh. Agree programs are not as described in brochure--'horse camp' provided all of about 1/2 hour of actual riding total. The 'nutritious' food described in the brochure=cold McNuggets on the first night. They have a 'no running' rule--in the middle of the woods! They had the kids swim in the pool when the filter wasn't working (no power/storm). When the kids got homesick, the lead counselor for my daughter's camp told them to 'suck it up and stop crying and ruining it for everyone.' There were bad storms/tornados in the area (which is actually what caused the crying)and the camp lost power during my child's stay and there was no way to reach anyone--no emergency communication plan. It's 2008! The local police recommended we complain about this since they received many calls from parents and had no information either. RID: 25486

At pick-up director and staff emphasized repeatedly to check lost and found yet no one, including the director, knew where it was. There was no health check at drop off and 5 girls with lice were permitted to stay or come back. They misplaced my daughter's sleeping bag. Their answer to lice outbreak was to heat/launder/or place in items in plastic bags. RID: 18422
