Yes it does rain alot but that is camping. All trips are not full of sunshine and unicorns. Highly recommend this boy scout camp to any scout troop. Have troops from all over the country coming to Camp Rainey a mountain. The NEGA council hires the best directors and staff to run the camp. RID: 52310
Click to report rating    6/9/18   5     5     5     5     5   Our troop has been going to CRM for many years and loves the place & staff. The staff is very confident and helpful to campers. The dining hall has undergone major changes and has a new director and has very good food and plenty for campers. Try CRM out - I think you'll like it! RID: 51875
Click to report rating    6/11/16   5     4     4     5     3   This was my son's second summer camp with boy scouts (he's 12), and the first time I stayed with the troop at summer camp (3 days anyway). We've been coming here with cub scouts since 2009. Speaking for this year (Summer camp - week 1 - 2016), the staff was phenominal, they could not have been better. The food left a lot to be desired, but I was never hungry. The kitchen staff was al new thie year, so hopefully it will get better. This is a fantastic facility, and it seems to get better every year. I had a great time. Had it not been for work, I would have stayed the entire time. My son and his troop always have fun, even though there is a lot of work involved (6 classes a day). RID: 49660

6/16/14   5     4     5     5     4   Went to this camp while i was in Scouts and many years on staff. This is one of the best camps around. I have been to several others in GA and this by far is the best. I just wish i had a son that could enjoy it as much as i did. Best times of my youth were spent here and wish i could go back to those days. The camp is very well maintained and over the years has had millions of dollars in upgrades and remodeling. The Food was great. I had to eat the same menu for 9 weeks and i can truly say i did not get tired of it. Only reason they got a 4 for facilities was cause of the Staff area. Behind the Dam is not a area for the staff if you are not going to put in air conditioners in the staff cabins. no breeze or air moves behind the dam. RID: 47406
Click to report rating    6/26/13   5     4     4     4     3   I did not know that the camp fee did not include decent meals with enough calories for the activities. You really need a nutritionist (or a new nutritionist). Other than not enough to eat, camp was ok. RID: 44904
4/30/13   1     4     2     1     2   I don't believe that our PLC will ever choose to come back to Rainey Mountain again. The staff only cared about the staff and if they were having a good time and those dumb campers only got in the way..The breakfast eggs were powdered and green. The medical officer has a Messiah Complex. I sat at a dining hall table for 20 minutes telling Trip Selman, the Scout Executive, about what a horrible time that we were having.... He didn't care.... Save yourself the trouble. Climb up to Big Rock and look for aƱother camp to go to with your Troop. RID: 44377

Click to report rating    7/11/09   5     5     5     5     5   Please dont listen to complaints about the rain. Its part of camping. Now, the staff at Rainey Mountain is by far the best Ive seen. The staff, unlike some camps, actually cares about the campers. They truly are there for them, and it shows.Everyone there loves their job. They are also extremely friendly and generous. All the activities are geared towards the kids, and making sure they have a great time. Their competitions are fun, exciting, and helped show our boys what it really means to be a team. The facilities are of high quality. Everything is well-kept. It fits the program very well, which is outstanding. The staff do a great job of making sure the kids actually learn skills and give the scouts plenty of encouragement. It is not very expensive and a great value as well.People who think poorly of this camp dont see what its really about, making sure the everyone has great time and that everyone walks away with a sense of accomplishment. This is where the south should prefer to camp. Click to report rating    9/20/08   5     5     5     5     5   Boy scout camp in the foothills of northeast georgia. The best staff i have ever seen. Facilities are not the best but they re being improved all the time. from shooting to whitewater they have everything, and when not in class for badges you can visit the waterfall or play games in the field. The staff assigns each troop a troop guide for the week so it you have any needs or anything they will be around all the time to help you. The air conditioned dining hall serves some of the best food of any camp ive ever been to. Trading post stocks everything you could need if you left something or everything at home and they have a laundry facility for a small charge in the leaders lounge. The staff is very experianced in everything they do from teaching new scouts basic skills to living like pioneers in goldrush the program is great everywhere . The camp is open for the summer but also hosts many northeast georgia council events throughout the year. RID: 26637
