My kids have been attending Winnewald since 2013 and have truly loved their experiences there. The camp brings old world charm to modern day and the counselors and support staff are all friendly and welcoming. They have a flag raising and lowering ceremony each day and have tons of activities and field trips. My older son is now a Counselor in Training and is so excited for the summer. Highly recommend!

Great idea in the 70’s. Still ran like it. I had three kids in the camp last year. Problem after problem. I will share three to keep the reading to a minimum. 1st. my 8 year old daughter we not feeling well and she went to the nurses office. The nurse thought it was a good idea to ask her if she had her period. My daughter has no idea what that is and for them not to ask the parents is completely ignorant and unexceptionable.2nd. They lost our payments and could not explain why. They have no management systems to handle the billing and was a horrible experience. 3rd. I was in the office trying to handle one of these problems and the lady was extremely condescending to me and completely disrespectful to two young staff members in front of me. Needless to say he lost three campers for many years to come. Don’t look at as old world charm and more like ran down and horribly ran.

My kids have been going for 7 years and love it! Not a specialty camp and so it is a camp for everyone where everyone gets to flourish. The counselors have always been fun, kind & attentive. My kids look forward to it every year!

My daughter has been attending for 4 years and loves camp! She stays in touch with the friends she makes their all year. She can't wait for camp to start. We think this camp is a great old fashioned camp teaching equality and good manners. I always tell my friends about Winnewald, thanks Bob and Carol.

The camp is a good old fashioned camp with wonderful spirit. Swimming, hiking, nock hockey, and fun are had everyday. Flag raising and lowering ceremonies are awesome. My child has been going there for years and will definitely be back again this season!

The owner discriminated against my son who has an iep for a speech delay. They accepted our 800 dollar deposit then called us over two months later to tell us they can't handle a kid with sensory issues and that he should go to a special ed day camp. Now I need to scramble to find an alternative. The place was also overpriced and employed high schoolers. Not professional.

The owner of Winnewald Day Camp kicked my son out of camp because he has diabetes. He said that the nurse was spending too much time with him because of his blood sugar "highs" and "lows" which were due to exercise and heat. He said that the nurse had other campers to tend to with allergies and other issues. When I spoke to the owner, Bob Jones in the spring, I explained that my son was newly diagnosed and he informed me that he had a registered nurse on site and that he would gladly accommodate my son's needs. The nurse loved my son and did not think she was spending too much time with him at all. She told me that the owner just doesn't understand the disease. She tried to explain everything to him, but he "just didn't get it." The nurse, who is a school nurse, was a very warm and caring person. She told me that all the counselors and children in his group were very upset and sad that my son was dismissed from the camp. Discrimination is a horrible thing.

The before care hours and after care hours are misreported resulting in unexpected charges. It takes the office to long to respond to emails. There is inconsistency in the billing and the office is unable to understand what the issue is and resolve the problem. The kids enjoyed the camp experience and the counselors are very nice. My kids enjoyed going to this camp.

Unorganized with lousy customer service! My wife met with the owner in person and specifically asked about the bus service and requested a later drop off because both of us are working parents. That was not a problem. Less then a week before camp started, after they had our money and not leaving us any time to investigate other camps, the owner tells us my son will be dropped off at 5:00. Being forced to have to pick-up ourselves. Then on first day of camp, my child and I wait in front of our house for over an hour in the rain for a bus that never came. Calling several times being told the bus will be there in 10 minutes, then the driver is lost, then the lights on the highway were out, and then finally telling me to drive my child there, all along being hung up on multiple times during these conversations. No solutions, no calls from them, no back-up plans in place. The owner is rude old codger and out of touch with the demands on modern families with both parents having to work.
