I attended this camp from 1975-1985 and worked there from 209-2012. AMAZING place to grow up and learn! It's still one of my favorite places to be! The heart holds a very special place in my heart and always will!!!

My daughter has been going to the Heart for the past 8 years. What an incredible experience. She has had the best of times, met wonderful life long friends, and has she says "Mom I can just be me". The Heart is a beautiful place that is full of love and good times. A truly wonderful summer camp.

My favorite place in the world. The counselors are caring and inspiring, the traditions are held close, and the values stay with you for life. I attended this camp for five years and my only wish is that I could have gone earlier. I went to MO Ranch and Other sleep away camps before coming and HOH is far better. I will send my children there.

I was a counselor here and after having children of my own, chose to send them elsewhere. While I think the intentions are good, there is a great need for more organization, quality leaders, and attention to detail. I was on staff with young counselors from other countries, supposedly hired to add "diversity," but it became obvious that they were just cheap labor. The activities were poorly funded, and we were left to grapple with what supplies were left over and/or shoved in closets from previous terms. There was a stark contrast between the counselors who had been campers and new recruits. There was NO real effort to encourage camaraderie among the staff. Many of the areas were in disrepair, and I'd say that half of the staff were only pretending to be Christians, if they bothered to pretend at all. That said, I think that the campers had a great time--partially because they didn't know any different. I now look back and realize how much room HOH has for improvement.

My husband and I agree that, next to a college fund, the summers we have sent our granddaughter to camp at Heart o' the Hills has been the best gift we could possibly give her. This will be her 6th summer at the Heart, and she continues to look forward to heading off to camp. The staff, from the cooking staff up to the management, provide top-notch care for "their" girls. I not only recommend Heart, I strongly encourage anyone looking for a high quality camping experience for your daughter or granddaughter to check this camp out during one of its Open Houses! You will like what you see.

This is the best camp ever! just because it's a run down hotel, doesn't make it a dump. this camp has history. And it makes you feel fun, safe and welcomed. The food may be bad, but those cooks work there hartest. They have to serve at least 105 kids 3 times a day. This is the most amazing camp ever.the camp director is the nicest person in the whole whole world.!!!!

This was my daughter's first year at camp. She attended the 2 week session. She had a great time. I was pleased for the most part with the camp. I do think they "keep selling" a bit much and would have liked to have received a more detailed report on her experiance and instead got a report that talked about how she can't wait to come back. Other than that it was great.

Altho I view web sites skeptically, I wish I had seen this site before sending my niece here. I, too, was swayed by its association with Stewart for boys. My niece, not having anything to compare it to, loves HOH. But it is very disorganized; the living quarters for most girls are in a run-down hotel-like building & different ages are sometimes mixed in order to max-out the "cabins"; the horseshow activities that I saw focused on limbo-like games involving who could jump off their horse and eat a Snickers bar the fastest;the camp director, while well-meaning, often doesn't reply to negative input even when it comes from multiple parents about the same issue. To top it off, this year, they're cutting 3 days or 10% off the second term due to school schedules & yet charging the same tuition as for a full term. Don't seem to be very high standards for hiring counselors; rules are enforced lackadaisically because HOH can't afford to lose campers, many of whom get lax discipline at home.

My twin 9 year olds just returned from a month session at HOH. We were beyond pleased. The girls had a wonderful time. The counselors were so sweet to my girls ..we recieved handwritten letters and updates on the girls 2 times while at camp. I felt they were safe, well cared for and learned so much while they were there. I highly recommed this camp for families who want a wholesome, fun, rewarding and unpretentious camp for their girls! They are already talking about next summer!

The counslers were evil! They dod not care about us at All! I hated it there so much! The food was so bad one would be better off eating cardboard. The activeties are so boaring. every one was so mean to me. I cried every night. it was the worst camp ever! I recomend it to no one. I went to frost valley farm camp the next year and it rocked! i recomend that one!

This place is awful! My 10-year old daughter hated it in 2006. I was appalled by what a dump it was. When I went to pick her up on parents' day, they tried to force everyone to go outside during a raging lightning storm! I kept my daughter inside a building. No one even noticed she wasn't with the group outside. They never missed her! They do not give the parents any help getting the child's luggage down the 3 flights of stairs. You are completely on your own. There are no workers to help. They hire foreign counselors who work cheap. The food is lousy (according to my child). Send your child to Sky Ranch instead. She's gone there for 5 years. It is the most organized, safe, fun, loving, beautiful camp. At least I don't have to worry about her safety at Sky Ranch. In all fairness, though, my 2 grandsons have been going to HOH's brother camp for boys, Camp Stewart. It is newer and nicer. The boys like it fine, but they've never gone to any other camp. They can't really compare.
