Would not recommend this camp. Councelors not well trained, food is all microwave crap, nothing nutritious like they claim. The days are filled with a lot of sitting around. They have 2 rides a day on lesson horses that aren't given any breaks in the heat and they swim once per day. No other organized activities. Not worth it

This camp is nothing but kids watching kids. The camp staff are young highschool age (or younger) girls with no certifications or accreditations. It is more like a pony ride and not a camp for those who want to learn to ride. All the campers are fed are hot pockets, or similar foods that are cooked in the microwave. The pool is the size of a large puddle. The horses seem to go on for hours on end and look tired. There is bullying that is not being addressed and the kids just play silly games or clean the horses tack. Overall, I would not reccomend it!

Unless you want your young daughter to get an education in inappropriate behavior I would not recommend this camp. The counselors had no idea how to manage 14 girls of different age groups. There was absolutely no respect between the girls and at times no supervision. The house has 2 baths for 14 girls and when the light bulb when out in one of them (day 2 of camp) it was ever replaced. There was not even enough milk for each girl at breakfast. The activities listed on the brochure for the most part didn’t take place.
My daughter every once in a while will tell us a story from camp that just floors me. When I raised questions regarding the camp the owner basically said that it was a money issue with me when he asked what I wanted from him and my response was my money back. What I wanted My Spurlin was for you to clean up your camp. I have learned a valuable lesson from all this. Just because it looks good from the outside doesn’t mean it’s good!
