Click to report rating    2/15/08   5     5     5     5     5   I volunteered at Camp Sunshine and could not have been more impressed with my experience. As a teacher and veteran staff member, I was given the "Lead Counselor" responsibilities of a 6-8 year old age group, and absolutely loved it. The children were fantastic, their families so grateful for the experience of being at camp...it was all I could do some days but cry because I was so happy for them. The volunteers were enthusiastic and generous, not only with their time, but their spirits and emotions. Even the 16 year old girls that were assigned to work with my group impressed me. They were willing to learn, and had a genuine interest in the kids. I recommend visiting Camp Sunshine to anyone and everyone. You will leave feeling wonderful... RID: 20314
Click to report rating    2/6/08   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Sunshine is a camp for children with life threatening illnesses (sessions for different illnesses, including cancer, lupus, diabetes, and others) and their whole immediate families, parents, siblings... Camp Sunshine recognizes the burned an illness puts on a whole family. The program is absolutely free to attending families, and accommodations, food, etc. are all provided. I hope that maybe through seeing this someone will learn about Camp Sunshine and be able to attend, or tell someone they know who could benefit from it. Please go to campsunshine.org for more information. It is the most amazing place in the whole world, it really is more than just a camp. RID: 19937
