Click to report rating    3/8/11   5     4     5     5     5   This camp is so much fun for scouts! The climbing wall and shooting ranges are excellent! The staff is friendly and helpful. We've been to other summer camps and this is their favorite. Meals are good - and there is plenty of food and lots of choices! No one goes hungry. There is a positive attitude among the staff and they don't have a pompous attitude toward the scouts like at other camps. RID: 35290

Click to report rating    5/17/10   5     5     5     5     5   I've worked at Firelands Scout Reservation for Two years. And the only reason I stopped working is because everyone there told me a bout Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, New Mexico. It is just a great camp all together. It has totally changed my life just being a part of the staff there. You get LOTS! of food, activities, religion practices, Rare merit badges, and just fun fun things to do. As in Polar swim, where you wake up real real early and swim in the wonderfully big lake in the freezing cold. Always supervised by certified BSA life guards. Ceremonial programs and Camp fires are held during the week or weeks you are there. Depending on how many you years you have attended there you will receive the Wyandot award (not sure if I spelled it right). But this will be my finale year going as a scout because I will be 18 next march of 2011. Thank you for reading about this amazing place! ---Sean M. Schofield RID: 32780

Click to report rating    1/13/09   5     5     5     5     5   This is the best camp in the world and I think the rest of the guys from troop 8 in Sandusky will agree!! RID: 28574
Click to report rating    9/17/08   5     5     5     4     5   I love going here. WE go here probably 4 times a year. The staff, or staph as they call themselves, is awesome. Summer camp is the best part in my opinion. It's one week long with merit badges and all the troops come together Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They also do OA ceremonies and has a special award called the chief wyandott. Each year, you can get a higher chief Wyandott. You must do a series of skills approved by your leader. Also, in the winter, they have a klondike derby. You pull a sled with everything you need to each station. If you complete the stations, you are given a rating. This determines how many "nuggets" you earn. The nuggets will then be used in a dutch auction. This is a really fun camp and I reccomend it for everyone!d RID: 26583
Click to report rating    7/21/08   5     4     5     5     5   This camp is great- there's always something to do, whether the camper is a boy or venture scout. The staph is extremely helpful and friendly, the activities are endless (there's something for absolutely everyone :), everyone gets attention and feels valued. The camp is well worth its monetary value, and campers will sharpen their social skills as they interact with scouts they hadn't known before for the first time. All activities are at the top of their class- we hope to return next year! RID: 25006
