Click to report rating    7/20/14   5     5     5     4     5   I have been going to Winacka for three years now and I love it so much! I always cry and have "campsickness" when I come home. I highly recommend this camp to anyone and everyone! BEST SUMMER CAMP EVER! RID: 47650

Click to report rating    5/30/11   5     4     5     5     5   This place is awesome! Not only do you get that traditional camping feel, you'll do some pretty cool things here. I'm never going to forget this camp, and I hope I can volunteer here when I get into CIT and stuff like that. I'm barely getting into program aide stuff, so I have a long road ahead of me. The only drawback about this camp is the fact that it feels like forever to walk to the archery place.. or maybe because the last time I came to this camp was when I was a Junior. I still remember it clear as a bell. Cabins are a little iffy.. if you don't like bugs and pine smell, hope you don't get placed in a rustic cabin. Other than that, it's really fun here, and I hope I can go here next summer! :) RID: 35989
Click to report rating    2/24/11   4     4     5     5     4   What a great place to spend the summer! I spent my summers there as a kid and now my daughter loves it too. The new buildings are a really cool addition to the camp, and the facilities are rustic, but well maintained. Programming and staff are top notch, you can't beat that camp magic. RID: 35188
Click to report rating    8/18/10   3     1     3     3     3   I am a mother of a daughter who attended this camp this summer. I was there with her as I am a leader. I thought the camp over all was good as far as the kids are concerned but found the sleeping conditions deplorable. We stayed in RAT infested cabins. I would never allow my daughter to return nor would I encourage anyone else. When i say infested I mean infested no one slept and one women woke up to a RAT on her chest. Even though the camp was good during the day the evening conditions made it so that we will never be back! RID: 33785
Click to report rating    8/13/10   5     5     5     5     5   There aren't enough wonderful things to say about Camp Winacka. I attended as a camper from the early nineties through 2000, and then had the privilege of working as staff for another 7 years. There is honestly something special about this place. The dedication, the tradition, the love. It is the safest place on earth, and I owe every bit of who I am to it. Thank you Winacka, for every beautiful moment. RID: 33713
Click to report rating    5/23/09   5     5     5     5     5   A great camp, I'm looking forward to doing CIT and later becoming a counselor. I've spent the past four summers there and am going this year as well. There is such a nice atmosphere about the camp and all the programs are really great! RID: 29830
Click to report rating    1/17/09   5     4     5     5     5   I have been returning to this camp for about 7 years and i would be devastated if I couldn't go back. This camp is like my home away from home. The people there are so accepting and loving. you never feel alone there. I have made many friends that I still talk to now. THIS IS NOT THE CAMP FOR SISSIES. If you want princess camp i suggest Whispering Oaks. In A year i will be a CIT (councilor in training) I have waited for that all my life. If this review doesn't convince you to come i don't know what will. RID: 28636

Click to report rating    2/3/08   5     5     5     5     5   Through the good times and bad I have grown with this camp. Starting off at Winacka when I was only 8 years old I have come to love this place with all my heart. I have watched her suffer in the flames of a raging forest fire i have seen her covered in snow and every summer Winacka stands strong and the most vivid camp in my mind. There is no comparison of any other camp against her as she outshines the rest. Now 10 years later I am staff at the camp I grew up with and when I have children I want my daughter to experience the same love that I did RID: 19809
Click to report rating    8/21/07   2     5     5     4     5   Winacka is the best Girl Scout camp in Southern California. It's rustic and lots of fun, with nice secluded cabins. The only really bad thing was the time when the counselors made us sleep outside in a thunderstorm. Under a huge tree. So stupid and dangerous... They also had us leave our stuff outside the night before a windstorm and a lot of it blew away into the wild blue yonder. But overall a beautiful and well-run place! RID: 14329

Click to report rating    5/21/07   5     5     5     5     5   i spent every summer here from 6 to 18 and worked there for 5 years after i been to and worked at other camps nothing compares to the staff, feeling, love that winacka provides. i have friends that have since moved out of state and send their kids here for the summer and wouldn't have it any other way, as soon as my daughter is old enough there is no where else in the would i would have her be. this place, the forest, the meadow, the trees are magical for a girls spirit! Click to report rating    6/19/06   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Winacka is the most amazing place. I learn so many new things about myself, others, and the world around me every time I go. RID: 974
Click to report rating    4/29/06   5     3     5     5     5   Camp Winacka is a fun, rustic camp. The facilities aren't fancy, but they serve their purpose well. The activities are great, and the counselors plan the schedules based on what the camper's want! Food's great and the kids are cool! Highly reccomended. RID: 234
