Smiles, (the camp director) couldnt do a better job! as well as all the adstaff. keep on being my home camp cedarlege! i love you! shout out to:smiles, indian, tadpole, blaze, captain, dracuala, skittles and my entire family!! I hate seista (rest time @ the hottest part of day) becuase were having too much fun to take a break!! The last day is always sad cuz you become soo close with ur couselours nd friends you make!!If you dont go to this camp, your missin out!! I was a little homesick my first year, but i quickly grew outta that!!! The facilities were pretty darn good, becuase they are cleaned EVERY day!! U get a lot of personal attension, especially if your homesick, or young, or if it is your 1st time away from ur family.I learn a lot about teamwork, nature, and other things I'm sure I will use for the future!!! Click to report rating    5/11/08   5     5     5     5     5   I've been at Cederledge for 4 years and going back for my fifth. It's a great camp and I love going. I'm going to be in first session which is the one I like best. I truly feel that this is a wonderful place. RID: 23095
Click to report rating    3/4/08   5     5     5     5     5   LOVE yep thats the right word. Cedarl;edge was a polace that changed my life. i met some people there i will never forget. this summer i am going for eight weeks and am very excited. the counclers werte fantastic nice and generous. i love camp cedarledge and am literly counting the days till i go back! to day there is only 93 days left till camp. i hope to see my friends again and im sure i will. the food was amazing, and so was the camp fires the conoeing and the swimming. the medical staff was great the nurses were so nice! i learned some great life lessons there that i will keep and treasure all the rest of my life. as they say " you can own the earth and sill all you'll own is earth untill you can paint with all the colors of the wind." i dont know about you but i sure can paint with ALL the colors. RID: 20916
Click to report rating    3/1/08   2     3     4     3     5   I though the camp was OK. the staff was horrible though. once i was in the unit, and i didnt know that we were leaving and i was in the bathroom. when i came out, everyone was gone and only one counselor stayed and she yelled at me for not keeping up with the group! but that was only my one couselor. i would not recomend going in july or august, because many of the counselors have been there for weeks and weeks and get very cranky, and its extremely hot. another problem i had with the camp was the tight schedule. we never had any time to sit and relax and we had to participate in EVERYTHING. other than that, it was fun being with the other girls and the trading post was fun. Click to report rating    2/17/08   5     5     5     5     5   I grew up for 7 years as a camper at this great camp, and I've been a staff member there for 5+ years now. It's an incredible place. The staff is awesome, the site is beautiful, and the atmosphere is great. We have a great horse program that teaches riding and other equestrian skills, leading up to the culminating AWIT (advanced wrangler in training) program. That and our great CIT program that's produced many excellent staff members. We also have numerous general and specialty programs. Something for everyone, from theater to art to roughing it! Every camper gets a chance to shine and feel special, and I say that speaking as one who didn't get much chance to feel special outside of camp. The price has gone up this year, but it's still an incredible value when contrasted with most other camps in the area. I'd recommend Camp Cedarledge to anyone! The summer camp is simply the best, and over the rest of the year weekend troop camping and trail rides are offered. RID: 20379
Click to report rating    2/10/08   4     4     5     5     5   I really LOVE Camp Cedarledge. This Summer will be my 3rd year, I will be going to Saddle Sense, 4th session. Camp Cedarledge is really great, the staff is great, but not all gonna be nice all the time. If you choose to do a horse program like I did you will enjoy it. The wranglers are cool, and the horses are extremely sweet!!! NOt all the facilities are great-- ex. last year, in 3rd session when we were trail riding we were using the bathooms at Timber Trails, and they smelled so bad one counselor went in there, ran out and puked--but most facilities are really clean. They get cleaned every day so..... I really love Camp Cedarledge and I hope you do to! --Froggi :-) RID: 20107
Click to report rating    2/8/08   5     5     5     5     5   i love this camp! i like the staff- always nice! The facilities, are like camp- sorta rugged- and like camp- i mean how can they call camp camp if the units or living space is air conditioned and vacumed by janeters everyother day? this place rocks! RID: 20011
Click to report rating    1/6/08   5     4     4     4     5   Camp Cedarledge has been my second home for almost six years now, and I love it! I especially love the barn and Gail's Place. Very cool. I love the horses there, too! Last year in Bits n' Bridles, I learned lots of cool stuff, and in Center Stage, the C.O.(Camp Office)helped us with tons of the supplies we needed! I also really like the counselors and other staff. They are really funny and they usually help you get through lots of things. I just really love Camp. RID: 18667
Click to report rating    12/26/07   3     2     4     5     5   I have to this camp for 5 years and I have been through everything written in those posts. my first year I knew nothing and I like to say crap when im mad it was a younger unit but not boarder village so i got in tons of trouble for saying crap and knowing a staff members real name. my 2nd year RITS was fun and messy but some girls just got to you by the "stress" of living outside so that put a downer on that year. 3rd year I finally got into Bits it was okay i didnt mind climbing the hill but some people did and I love horses. over the year i started riding horses so i got to skip to wit. My Wit year was bad i hated it people hated me and the head wrangler too. after that I Promised myself I would not go back. But in may i missed camp the smells and sounds and the few true friends so i applied and somehow got to be a AWIT. it was amazing true friends being treated like staff knowing your way around camp and the barn. im applying for staff this year. Camp, it grows on you trust me!!!! RID: 18338
Click to report rating    12/1/07   5     4     4     4     3   I remember going to camp Cedarledge with my best friend when I was in fifth grade. We stayed in tree houses for the camp sampler. I remember getting a little homesick on the first night, but the counselors were so nice to me. I remember not getting homesick again! I enjoyed getting free time to write letters and hang out with new friends. The food was good (Not like a resturant, but compared to other camps, I liked it the best). The tents that we stayed in were in good shape, and the camp was very clean (Especially after the counselors made us clean!). The one thing I did not like was having nicknames and being forced to use them. I could not start calling my best friend a nickname when I had been calling her her real name for years! Also, when making new friends, it would have been nice to know the girls' real names. Overall, Camp Cedarledge was a great camp and I enjoyed the experience! RID: 17615
Click to report rating    11/1/07   2     3     3     2     3   for me cedarledge had its ups and downs. I only went there for one year and i remember excitedly telling my mom that i wanted to go back ever. now i attend a different camp and realize that cederledge wasn't all that great. my main problem was counselors. some of them were extremely nice and carging, but others were just mean. i never was able to really connect with any of them. the activities like tether ball and climbing on tires were fun, but i wish that there could have been more. i felt like there was too much down time when we could have been doing something amazing anywhere on the beautiful land. the facilities are good for a girl scout camp. they're not amazing, but they are pretty clean and they are a lot better than many camps. i can't say that i liked the bathrooms though, but what are you gonna do? i think for a camp in MO, u can get a pretty good camping experience at cedarledge. Click to report rating    9/30/07   5     5     5     5     5   Wow. This camp is the best camp to have ever been made. I love this camp. In 2007 [this year] it was my third year going. I am going again this year to saddle sence. I am so excited! I share so many funny memories.I cry every time i have to leave. I seriously feel lie someone is evictiong me every closing day. I will go to camp every year for the rest of my life! haha.....no joke though. I <3 CAMP CEDARLEDGE...AND CINNAMIN THE HORSE! RID: 15715
Click to report rating    9/14/07   2     5     5     4     4   I really wanted to go to Camp Cedarledge as a young girl because my older sister had such a great experience there. I finally went when I was 7. (This was 22 years ago.) There was a counselor named Peaches who told everyone that the reason I won at Red Rover was because I cheated. I was a competitive swimmer at the time and they flunked me at the swimming test even though I tread water longer than girls five years older than me and did not explain to me why I couldn't swim with the rest of the group. Overall, I think it could have been a great experience but I still remember feeling really alienated. I'm surprised that the camp wasn't very selective in hiring staff. I'd say it's not a good experience for very young girls but I'm sure I would have had a good time as a 10 or 12 year old. My sister and I drove by the camp many years later, when I was 18, and we both shared some fond memories of the camp. RID: 15294
Click to report rating    8/26/07   5     5     5     5     5   I ? Camp Cedarledge!!! It is really fun I've gone there for 2 sessions in an Equestrian Camp-Bits and Bridles. I've made lots of friends, and I'm already planning to do the WIT program, and come back as a counsler!! I ? Camp Cedarledge!!! RID: 14502
Click to report rating    5/7/07   5     5     5     5     5   I've been going to Cedarledge for 9 years as a camper, and now another, as staff. this camp is amazing! RID: 10616
Click to report rating    4/30/07   5     5     5     5     5   OMG!!! I'm in love with Cedarledge!!!! Seriously!!! I could live there! I have been at Cedarledge for 6 years, going on 7. I'm going to be an AWIT this year and can't wait! Some people say to go to camp at the beginning of the summer but I say that the end is the best! only because I have gone to camp at the end of the summer every year and have loved it. The staff may get cranky but that isn't their fault. really..it isn't. they just have to deal with the silly kids who come to camp and want to go home the first day there because they miss their parents or they are scared of bugs...well if you are scared of bugs or can't live without your parents for more than a week...THEN DON'T GO TO CAMP! Don't put more stress on the staff then they already have. It is that simple!!!! lol!! anywho..i'm completely in love with camp cedarledge and if you have gone for as long as i have..i bet you would love it! the friends that you meet are amazing, you could never imagine!!! omg i could live there! RID: 10308
Click to report rating    4/25/07   4     4     5     5     5   I love Camp Cedarledge, it's a place where you can really forw and find yourself. Here, you can be yourself-you may be suprised who you really are. The staff is pretty amazing but sometimes they can get cranky(I don't blame them, I probally will too) But they are normakky energetic and caring. The equestrian program is good, you learn, but if you are really serious, don't expect to learn complex moves, jump, barrels, dressage, or other things. There is bugs, and can be a little rough, so if you ABSOLUTELY can not live without makeup, a straghtner, hair dryer OR AC this is not your camp. Cedarledge is an amazing camp, RID: 10146
Click to report rating    3/26/07   5     4     5     5     5   I was a camper last year and will be this year and I really love Cedarledge. It is a place were if you look hard enough, you will make real friends who have the same interests as you and who won't judge you. It is a really great place! The only problem is if you don't like bugs you're out of luck here. ;) RID: 8986
Click to report rating    2/20/07   3     3     4     4     4   I was a camper for 8 years and staff for 2. It was a great place where I met a lot of great friends. Some of the staff is wonderful but the politics of camp are becoming overwhelming. Campers are being pulled into the politics as CITs and AWITs. The monetary value is great for campers but the staff are underpaid and this is reflected in their lack of enthusiasm at times. Parents who are considering sending their children here should evaluate what their attitude would be after dealing with 30+ kids all day everyday for 9 weeks while living in a tent. The earlier in the summer a camper can get there, the better. The beauty of Camp Cedarledge is something girls need to experience firsthand. Before sending a girl to camp, really consider if she will enjoy ALL aspects of it. Often times, staff becomes worn down when dealing with one problem camper day after day and this can affect then entire group. I loved this camp but realize that it is not ideal for everyone! RID: 7981
Click to report rating    1/25/07   4     4     5     5     5   staff get more upront with you as you advance in years and the groups that you enter into. sometimes this just means more information but sometimes this can also mean being yelled at more for 1 person in your whole group who scares a horse, or says a bad word. the facilities are okay..as you get older you get better facilities but during your first year the outdoor restrooms have spiders and insects inside. this is suposed to give you a nature feel but for me it always grosed me out. i love this camp either way but me comming back to it next year has to do with weather i am willing to put up with the moody staff members or am not going to even try. RID: 7186
Click to report rating    9/21/06   5     5     5     5     5   I have been going to Camp Cedarledge for 6 summers! The time at camp is always the best part about summer! I love everything about it! Especially the staff and I also love the varioius activities! A few activities that are my favorite are horse back riding, being on the Lake and and all the cheerfulness! RID: 3373
Click to report rating    9/5/06   5     5     5     5     5   Cedarledge is awesome! I was a camper there for 7 years, followed by 4 great years on staff, and I plan to go back again for many years to come! It's a very welcoming, fun, open environment. The setting is beautiful, the people are nice, and there's always something fun to do. I wish I could stay all year long! RID: 2871
Click to report rating    5/5/06   5     5     5     5     5   This is an awesome camp! I grew up there as a camper and am now working on staff for many years. Its a wonderful place (see details of previous rating.) RID: 262
Click to report rating    5/3/06   5     4     4     5     5   I was a camper for 10 years and I'm abotu to start my fourth year as staff. This Girl Scout camp is amazing at helping girls fit in, have fun, find themselves, discover nature... It's a beautiful 700+ acre camp nestled in the middle of seven "mountains" (really just hills over 700 ft. tall). Girls sleep in platform tents with 2-3 other girls in units of as many as 32 girls. Activities include archery, canoeing, arts and crafts, nature, horsebak riding, sports, and hiking. Girls cook out once week. The camp offers one or two weeks sessions in addition to four week long CIT and WIT programs. Specialized sessions allow girls to explore camp in a way that fits their personality. The staff members are always more than welcoming. It was here where I really feel I found myself. RID: 247
