This camp is great, the office staff including Patty and Seth who helped extend my payment right up until we started. The program selections are unlike any other camp my kids have gone too (and there have been more then a few). No other camp has facilities where my kids can be in the same classroom that college students and athletes use. I would recommend this camp to anyone!

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I'll never work under Terry Ryan again. He was verbally abusive towards me and there's no question that he's very unprofessional. I wasted my entire summer there. An absolute disappointment.

The staff and the facilities are ok, especially the gifted camp. However, they are horrible at transportation. It is an independent company that is providing the buses and the drivers but the camp is ultimately responsible for oversight. Our kids have had to change buses numerous times because of unruly kids and drivers' inability to fairly pick up and drop off. The other issue is the long waits assembling in the morning and afternoons. Our kids won't be back next year.

This camp is a very expensive. I am not kidding. The staff is OK. Some of them are mean and they yell at you but whatever. Most of the staff are nice. The facilities are not really that nice. The bathrooms are horrible. The lockerrooms are pretty nice and the pool is ok but packed. You get swim lessons too, with your speciality camp. Talking more about the facilities: The gym, is very very packed in the morning. It is an OK gym. To get to many areas, You will have to walk. They make the buses arrive too early. Not time-wised. But you will have to wait at least 30 minutes to get to where you will have to go and you still have to walk to get to the places. You do get some attention but the thing that really bugs me is you have to ask to go to the bathroom.. come on really -_- (this guy told me *can you really not hold it in*) come on really dude. 2 stars now, Sorry. And actually, that is right.. Many of the staff are too young to be staff. Overall, too expensive for what you get. Average

This is the most ridiculous place ever. It is like an ocean, and when you go in the mornings, it seems very happy and cheerful. But the staff is just a bunch of inexperienced teenagers who are not supervised by a mature adult. I am all for kids learning responsibility, but when they are entrusted with kids younger than them, there should experienced person in the background overseeing what they do. My daughter was once left behind in their lunch room by her "teacher", because the teacher was too busy chatting with some other teenaged friend of hers. It is not safe or reliable. Transportation is a joke, as it comes wayyyy too early. They do NOT cater to different dietary requirements. My daughter ate french fries for her entire time at Hofstra. The programs they offer are amazing, but that is only three hours. The rest of the time the kids are there, they are being managed by irresponsible half-adults. I will never go there again.

I had a good relationship with this camp for 7 years. However, that has changed completely. This camp is appalling. I have been a camper for over 7 years and know the in's and outs of the camp like the back of my hand. I attended the CAP program, which was a complete waste of my money, in hopes of attaining a job within the camp. I did very well in the CAP program. I applied for a job and got rejected. Didn't even hear anything. Days later I find out that one of my fellow CAP's got a job. Let me put it on record that he was immature, acted out and was NEW to the camp. I was very loyal to the camp, recommending friends and even family to it. I have given the camp well over $10,000 throughout the years and when I apply for a job I get zip. That is absolutely distasteful. Hofstra Summer Camp portrays no loyalty to its campers. And for that, the can screw themselves. I have told all of my friends and family that I have recommended and they will not be back this year.

This camp is outstanding. Everything you could want and more. The best facilities on long island. Food was amazing, staff was even better. Head directors are very on top of all campers and staff. In my opinion best camp on long island.

My child had an excellent experience at this camp. Their offerings as what they call specialties are extremely varied, in the 6 years my child has been there he has never been bored with a program. I have personally visited the facilities at a few of the camps open house opportunities, there facilities are bar none being on a college campus. I could not imagine another camp that can offer college level computer and science lab rooms as well as full division I athletic facilities. I just wish my child was still camp age so I could send him back

While the course listing looks impressive and my 8-year-old son enjoyed the couple of hours in video game design, the rest of his experience was extremely disappointing. Perhaps this was because his main counselor was an inexperienced teenager. The rest of his day was with boys his age from different programs who had completely different interests. When we visited the camp before enrolling, we were told that his dietary needs would be met (he's doesn't eat meat and is picky). However, he ate NOTHING during his 8-10 hours most days, had French fries one or two days and had pizza one day. And that's after contacting the camp several times and them promising to offer him something nutritious. In fact, the only consistent emails I received were those outlining appropriate tip amounts. Even the head staff was totally unresponsive. What perfectly summarized my son's experience was the group camp picture in which my son was doubled over in a sneeze and the back of his head was photographed. W

This camp ia joke! My son is going into 5th grade and he was put in a group with mostly 2nd and 3rd graders for a soccer camp. He told me that he spent tons of time waiting around; waiting a half hour in the morning for all the campers to arrive, waiting to use the locker room and then waiting a 1/2 hour every day on the bus line. He also said the bathrooms are disgusting. The buses are also not air conditioned. In addition, there is a TON of walking all over from one area to another since it is on a college campus and when it is 95 degrees outside that is not fun!

This is by far, the worst camp I ever went to. The kids are really nasty, the bus counselors don't reprimand the kids AT ALL. But my counselor was a very, very nice guy. That's the only good part the staff. the staff is very, very kind. I will never go here again. Good luck if someone signed you up the kids are really mean.

I loved Hofstra! it was soo much fun and I met my best friends. We all live pretty close so i see them a lot and they made the camp special. I only went for one year so far but that year was the best year of my life! The tennis program was amazing and I am a much better player than I was before. The food is better than other camps and the facilities are great. I loved this camp!

The lunch waas horrible. (exept the cookies)! I did art and it was a lot of fun. In my group most days everyone exept me wouldnt want to do a sport so we ended up sitting in the shade doing nothing. The instrucional part of swimming bad because they didnt teach us anything. They would give us numbers and say for example number 1's freestyle to the rope and back. In free swim if you 9 under most likely you wont be able to stand. The shalowist part is 4 1/2 feet. I would definetly not go back next year.

HOFSTRA IS LIFE!!!<3I am absolutely devestated I won't be returning this summer. I've made SO many amazing friends, which is probably the best part about Hofstra - unlike my school which is filled with clones, Hofstra has a diverse atomosphere, for better or worse. Cheerleading program is AMAZING, food is deccent, and their fun little activty are so cujte and childish that everyone makes them fun by making a huge joke out of everything. My counsuler last summer was iffy, but the summer before that I loved my consuler. The staff is pretty good, but DO NOT be a CIT here. That's why I'm leaving - I'd rather work somewhere where they don't like, spit on you. And the CITs are just like us campers but a little older, so I feel so bad! It's expensive, yes, but worth EVERY penny. To me, Summer is about getting away from everything you know and going out of your comfort zone. Hofstra is a perfect place to expand your horozions.

I have done fine arts, soccer, dance, adventure eductaion, and Musical Theater in all of my years (7) at hofstra and it has been a great amount of fun. everything exept musical thater is a two weeks, and musical therter is either 4 or 6. I went for six. this camp is tons of fun. there is a last 1 week session where not as many campers go and its not as many choices. for the first few years i took atrs and crafts but they cancled it in 2004 so then i took swimming and travel

Excellent program for third grade and above unless your child is very independent. Counselors are very professional and have expertise in sport or subject area. Excellent swim program. Large campus, lots of walking but kids do not seem to mind. Great food in cafetria. Kids feel grown up.
