I have 3 children who each started at this camp between age 6-7. They are now 18,20, and 22. They still go back, now as staff. This is one of their favorite places in the world. They do say the staff is strict but they always have the best time there. As a mother, my concern was always safety. I never worry about their safety when they are at Camp Howe. It has made very special memories for them.

HORRIBLE!!! Do not believe any of the reviews. They are fake news. The parents may have liked the camp but the kids do not. You are probably looking for camps to provide an experience for your kids that they will never forget. Which I guess in a way is true that I’ll never forget this experience but in a bad way. There is no freedom the counselers are always hovering around the kids always telling them what to do, they have no chance to have fun with their friends. The food is horrible. I gagged on one meal. They make you sing in order to eat. THERE IS A LOT OF SINGING IN THIS CAMP. I had to basically shove my thumb up my a** to hold in my poo because the bathrooms are so gross that I didn’t wa t to even step foot in them. I was 13 when I went but I was treated like I was 6. They only let you go to the lake for 45 minutes for the entire week. There are so many “special needs kids” that have 2/3 of my cabin would have to leave the cabin to go take a dose of their “morning meds”. Crappy.

I have sent my nieces to Camp Howe for the past two summers. Not only have the girls come back with stories of new found friendships and fun activities but they talk about themselves in new and confident ways. They now talk about what they will try that is new not what is impossible. they have also brought with them a new ability to stand up for other children at school. My oldest niece was telling me the other day how she helped out this student at school that was being picked on and how it was not cool, that she learned at Camp Howe that is important to learn about peoples differences not make fun of them. The staff worked wonderfully with my youngest niece special needs as well. I am looking forward to the new stories from this summer experience.

response to nightmare I witnessed this nightmare, issue was not the fault of the staff, it was the parent. Parent described her son as quirky . well first parent tried to register her son in the special needs program, but program was full, so the parent register her son in the next open enrollment for non-special needs. as camping experience started it became clear to the staff that her son was a special needs child due to his actions. staff then had to change there staffing to accommodate her son so that he would have a wonderfully time at camp.I camped at camp Howe as, a boy, sent my children, my grandsons and will continue.As for not so nice children that teased her son only once,staff correct this issue on the spot. first if the parent had informed the staff her son was a special needs child and not just quirky they could have monitor her sons actions more closely. The staff did a wonderfully job with this child, parent lied to get her son to camp that is the nightmare

NIGHTMARE. That is the best word to describe my child's experience for two weeks at Camp Howe. Because of all the great reviews we were SO excited to send him there, and especially because it sounded like a safe place for a quirky kid with tons of enthusiasm!! He dressed up for Superhero week and was teased and taunted by his cabinmates. One child stepped on his camp and ripped it, which was very sad for my kid since we made it together on the sewing machine. The staff are young and they did not know how to get control of the cabin. One nice teenage counselor admitted to me that "This is the worst week I have ever seen at camp. That is not acceptable. My kid cried all the way home from camp each day and begged me not to send him. We had paid a lot of money and kept thinking he was exaggerating, or that things would get better. THEY GOT WORSE. Kids are very mean to him and my child had a HORRIBLE experience. This year he is afraid to go to camp. NIGHTMARE.

Camp Howe has a great focous on diversity and community! The staff treats everyone equaly regaurdless of there race, how much money they have or there physical or developmental ability! It is my home away from home!

Camp Howe is more than just a summer camp. It is a camp where campers grow, become more confident, and learn about inclusiveness all while having heaps of fun. Camp Howe has changed me for the better and I know many people that feel the same way.

I have been going to camp for 5 years. This was my first on staff. In my opinion Camp Howe is one of the best summer camps around. The staff truly care about the campers. They want the campers to be safe, have fun, and the staff encourage them to do their best. Camp Howe has made me the person I am today and I hope to continue being a part of camp as long as I can.

Camp Howe is is a very significant part of my childhood. The staff members throughout the years have shaped me into who I am today. I have nothing but good memories at Camp Howe, and hope every child has the opportunity to attend and grow.

Camp Howe has changed mine and im sure hundreds of others lives. No matter how minuscule, every year i return this camp and the people who run it change my life. Dont know where i would be without it/them.

i was sad this year, i was very anxious, the staff did not let me call my mom, i cried alot for her. the staff would'nt help me with my anxiety, they did'nt call my mom for four days, then told her to pick me up, it mad me vey sad.

This will be my boys 3rd summer at Camp Howe and being twins, they are pretty attached at the hip and not very interested in anything other than school during the school year. Once June rolls around, their excitement to get to Camp Howe for 2 weeks is beyond control! They keep intouch with their old counsellors and Camp Howe friends via Facebook and all look forward to seeing each other again for those two weeks in the summer. I am thrilled with everything about Camp Howe including the thin mattresses on the beds - afterall, this is summer camp!!

Camp Howe always seems to find the best counselors in the six years I have been. They have an awesome lake and they have an awesome farm. Negatives: There are not a lot of sports, and there are not a lot of activities in the woods.

I have gone to Camp Howe for 17 years, gone since I was 6. Now a staff member, Camp Howe has changed my life as a camper. Through that I have spread the same experience to campers in my own cabins. Facilities are not top of the line, but with a caring and committed staff they sure make up for it. Worth AT LEAST a week ( or 17 summers).

I absolutely love going to camp here!I have gone for 3 years now it is one of the best camps ever! The only issue I ever head was being scolded for getting a spoon. sadly I cant go this year but hopefully i can go the year after that!!!!

I love this place! I've spent the past two summers here and wouldn't want to spend them anywhere else. As a camper, you get so much more out of going to Camp Howe than learning how to shoot a bow and arrow or making it to the top of the climbing wall. You make lifelong and life-changing friends and memories that you won't get anywhere else. I would recommend Camp Howe to anyone and can't wait to send my own kids there someday.

This camp is amazing. My kids are better human beings because of this camp. They learned to appreciate and accept different kids they bunked with and found that it is ok to be who they are. The staff are amazing and are incredible role models from all corners of the world. They are caring, empowering and fun! My kids enjoyed all of the crucified but remember the people there the most! They embrace diversity and create a caring community. Thank you camp howe

this is the best camp ever staff is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice and amazing treat ypou like your the only camper cuz the devote somuch attention and time.there about 10-12 campers in every cabin and 2 camp counslers. But somtimes there is a 3ed staff member if there is a child with special needs becase there is one counsleur for them that stays with them the entire week. sooooooooo fun i would recomend it to everyoneeeeeeeeee

Camp Howe is my home. I have never felt more comfortable than i do when im there. The activities are fun and the staff just make it the best place to be. Going to camp Howe is the best choice i've ever made

My child had a wonderful experience this summer. Compared to another camp she went to, her counselors were so caring and helpful. She was nervous to go for one week, but when she came home she said she wanted to go for two weeks next year. Their new high ropes course was her favorite activity and she can't wait until next summer when more elements are open.

Camp Howe is a truly amazing place. The staff strives to make it a friendly & safe environment for all youth and provide a unique camp experience with a varity in not only the activities but the people as well. There are internaltional staff as well as campers, a wide range of ages interests and abilties. Though the campers may have varied levels of need, all are encouraged to achieve whatever goals they set their minds to.

camp howe is amazing that is why im coming back as staff next summer! The staf is amazing because they are willing to do anything to make campers happy. the facilittys are clean but the bathrooms need some work. the activities, including rock climbing and skeet shooting, are great.
